  • Super Bowl betting at Nevada sportsbooks lowest level since 2016
  • $133.8 million wagered at Nevada’s 186 sportsbooks on the big game
  • Unaudited figures show a sportsbook win of over $9.89 million

Super Bowl LX between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots was a super bust on the field, in many ways, and Nevada sportsbooks are walking away disappointed as well.

According to information provided by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, a total of $133.8 million (unaudited) was wagered on the big game across Nevada’s 186 sportsbooks, the lowest level since the 2016 game between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers, Peyton Manning’s final game in the NFL (Denver won 24-10). Gamblers wagered $132.5 million that game.

Big Decline in Hold Percentage

Last year’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles generated $151.6 million in bets.

On Sunday, Nevada sportsbooks made $9.89 million from Super Bowl wagering, a 7.4% hold after paying out winning bets, compared to last year when they raked in a record $22.1 million, or 14.6 hold%.

NFL Betting: Seahawks Dominate

The Seahawks won handily in Sunday’s game at Levi’s Stadium in California, 29-13. Seahawks QB Sam Darnold threw for 202 yards. He didn’t turn the ball over. Running back Kenneth Walker III rushed for 135 yards, on 27 carries, and took home MVP honours.

Seattle’s defence was suffocating, while Patriots’ QB Drake Maye later admitted to injury problems with his right shoulder, his throwing arm, which would explain his ineffectiveness in the game (27/43, 295 yards, two interceptions, and a bleak total QBR of 16.3, an NFL stat that incorporates all of a QB’s contributions to winning, how he impacts the games in rushes, passes, penalties and turnovers).

The game was 9-0 at the half. The first touchdown didn’t come until 13:24 of the fourth quarter.

Seahawks Cover Spread

The Seahawks went into the game 4.5 point favourites. That line didn’t change much leading to kickoff. DraftKings Sportsbook Director Johnny Avello told us Friday they were seeing Seahawks money on the spread, Patriots money on the moneyline, where New England were underdogs at +190 going in.

Sportsbooks already have odds out for next year’s Super Bowl winner. DraftKings has the Seahawks to repeat at +950, followed by the L.A. Rams at +950, the Buffalo Bills at +1100, the Philadelphia Eagles at +1300, and the Patriots at +1300. At FanDuel it’s Seahawks +750, Rams +800, Baltimore Ravens +1200, Bills +1200, and Green Bay Packers +1300.
