North Carolina: Charlotte Hornets and bet365 announce partnership, anticipating the legalization of sports betting | Yogonet International

    [ad_1]

The NBA‘s Charlotte Hornets have announced a strategic partnership with bet365, a global giant in online sports betting. This collaboration positions bet365 as the official mobile betting provider for the team, as revealed in a press release on Friday.

This announcement follows the signing of a bill by Governor Roy Cooper at the Spectrum Center in June, legalizing sports betting in North Carolina. Jacob Gallagher, the Hornets‘ Revenue Director, highlighted that the search for a suitable betting partner began immediately after the law was enacted.

The partnership’s activation is pending until bet365 receives a license to operate in the state, with the legislation for online sports betting expected to be implemented on January 8. The association will allow the company to have a presence at the Spectrum Center, on the Hornets’ website, social media platforms, the team’s mobile app, and in game broadcasts on television and radio.

Operating in 78 sports and offering over 78,000 live streams, bet365 serves 90 million global customers and employs more than 7,000 people internationally.

The new legislation enables individuals aged 21 and over to bet on professional and college sports in North Carolina, both online and in-person, at locations near eight of the state’s professional sports facilities. These locations include Bank of America Stadium, Spectrum Center, Charlotte Motor Speedway, and Quail Hollow in Charlotte, as well as PNC Arena in Raleigh, WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Wilkesboro Speedway, and Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro. Up to 12 online sports betting apps and websites will be allowed to operate.

With this partnership, the Charlotte Hornets become the fifth professional sports franchise in the U.S. to establish an agreement with bet365, joining names like the Washington Commanders, Colorado Rockies, Cleveland Guardians, and San Antonio Spurs.

With plans to expand its operations, already established in states such as Colorado, Ohio, Kentucky, New Jersey, Virginia, and Iowa, bet365 is one of the first sports betting houses to be licensed in North Carolina.

The process of licensing and regulating sports betting in North Carolina is ongoing. The North Carolina Lottery Commission indicated that implementation might not be ready until January 8, aiming to activate the system by June 15, 2024.

  • BetMGM research reveals half of UK gamblers view betting funds differently to money in their bank account | Yogonet International

BetMGM research reveals half of UK gamblers view betting funds differently to money in their bank account | Yogonet International

    [ad_1]

Over half of UK gamblers view the money in their accounts with betting websites as different from the money in their bank account, new research from BetMGM reveals.

To mark Safer Gambling Week in the UK, BetMGM surveyed UK residents who have placed a bet or gambled within the last 12 months, with 51% of them saying they see money in gambling accounts differently from their personal funds.

Despite the money holding the same value no matter where it is held, the research highlights that there is an innate awareness of its true value.

Further highlighting this and the need for greater education and awareness around gambling, 19% admitted they usually or always chase their gambling losses, while 14% do not view their winnings as “real money.”

However, there is a positive trend among younger players, with those aged between 18-34 more likely (92%) to put a monetary restriction on their betting to ensure their safety.

In a press statement, BetMGM reaffirmed that it is committed to promoting safer gambling and providing an experience that is safe and enjoyable for all players, noting that it undertook this research to educate the public about gambling habits and how to stay responsible while betting.

Sam Behar, UK Director at BetMGM, said: “The industry has come on leaps and bounds in the past decade – we know so much more about responsible gambling and everyone at BetMGM is devoted to ensuring our customers play safely. We’re a huge supporter of Safer Gambling Week but it is something that is core to our business throughout the year.

We’re delighted to see the growing use of responsible gambling with younger players throughout the UK, but there is always more that can be done. We are striving to improve and introduce new methods to help potential problem gamblers.

“To those who have admitted chasing their losses and those who view the funds in their betting accounts as different to that of their bank accounts, we implore them to see that money as having real-world value.”

BetMGM highlighted that it has tools in place to support players who are feeling uncomfortable about their gambling, including human customer support available 24/7. Also in place are deposit, loss, session and wagering limits, self-exclusion and ad-limiting tools as well as access to services like therapy, support groups and financial blocks.

Key findings from the report include:

    • 51% of UK gamblers view the money in their gambling accounts as different from that in their bank accounts
    • 92% of players 18-24 put monetary restrictions on their gambling
    • 46% put money won from gambling into their savings
    • 26% use gambling winnings to place another bet straight away
    • 19% always or usually chase their gambling losses

  • More UK industry voices join Safer Gambling Week promotion efforts | Yogonet International

More UK industry voices join Safer Gambling Week promotion efforts | Yogonet International

    [ad_1]

The seventh edition of Safer Gambling Week is now underway, taking place from November 13 to 19, with the UK gambling industry rallying together to advocate for safer gambling practices. More voices have now joined these efforts, highlighting the importance of fostering a responsible gambling industry and providing consumers with tools to keep their gaming safe.

Among those supporting the efforts is The Health Lottery, which operates on behalf of twelve local society lotteries across Great Britain. Lebby Eyres, CEO, said: “The Health Lottery is committed to responsible gambling and is always pleased to show its support for Safer Gambling Week. We will be distributing enhanced safer gambling messaging directly to players and on social media throughout the week.

The Health Lottery also announced it has arranged additional staff training to make sure the team keeps the vulnerable “firmly at the forefront” of what the operator does, according to the lottery’s boss.

“Safer Gambling Week is a valuable opportunity to encourage everyone who gambles to take time out to think about how much time and money they spend,” added Eyres. “For those who recognize that they may have lost their way, it’s about reminding them of the tools that are available and urging them to seek help at the earliest opportunity, in order to take back control of their lives.

The impact of the UK gambling review

This year’s Safer Gambling Week is especially important given it comes in the midst of a review of the UK’s gambling laws, reason why firm Poppleston Allen will be running an extensive social media campaign to promote responsible gaming throughout its network.

Felix Faulkner, solicitor at Poppleston Allen, said: “Unfortunately, this year we have seen several failings from gambling operators on the social responsibility front, with some large financial penalties handed out by the Gambling Commission and also the relatively rarely used sanction of a license suspension.

In addition, we’ve seen a number of operators fall foul of the rules related to the prohibition of gambling marketing with ‘strong appeal’ to children introduced by the Committee for Advertising Practice last year. In particular, there have been several cases where operators persist with arguments that the Advertising Standards Authority has already made clear it does not agree with.”

While Faulkner highlights that the “vast majority” of gambling operators in the UK market act responsibly, he noted that the few that do not may generate negative press that taints the entire industry. “Safer Gambling Week is a good time to urge all operators to have systems in place to ensure they stay well within the current rules and regulations,” Faulkner added.

With a general election looming, we expect that some of the proposals in the White Paper and the subsequent consultations may fall by the wayside, but we believe those related to safer gambling are the most likely to be prioritized by the current government. Specifically, these include proposals such as a gambling ombudsman and the statutory levy.”

Affiliates also join calls for safer gambling

The affiliate sector has also commented on the significance of Safer Gambling Week. Affiliates generate a significant percentage of the new customers delivered to gaming companies in the UK and, for many players, they are the first point of contact with a gambling website.

Therefore, it is important affiliates have a strong sense of responsibility towards players and that they are invested in promoting safer gambling as the operators they work with are, says Andrew Lee, group operations director at QiH Group.

We are fully behind this year’s Safer Gambling Week, with support for its social media campaign and also our own social media activity. It’s important to remember though that it isn’t just about one week; responsible gambling should be something all companies involved in the industry are constantly thinking about.”

For this reason, QiH Group regularly raises awareness of the topic in weekly staff meetings throughout the year, explains Lee. The company also makes sure new staff receive adequate training in the area.

Compliance is embedded in the DNA of our company and we always take care not to push the boundaries in terms of our advertising. There is sometimes a very thin line between being compliant and non-compliant and we don’t want to be close to that line,” the executive explained.

Affiliates have a duty to advertise responsibly and many operator partners also have specific requirements in terms of links to responsible gambling organizations, but this should be seen as a minimum and there’s no reason affiliates can’t go above and beyond that.”

Organized by the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC), BACTA, and the Bingo Association, the annual Safer Gambling Week event aims to intensify efforts in promoting responsible gambling. The focus is on showcasing available tools that empower customers to remain in control of their gambling activities and providing assistance to those seeking help and advice.

Las Vegas sees room rates, ticket prices decline ahead of inaugural F1 Grand Prix | Yogonet International

    [ad_1]

With the inaugural Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix just a week away, room rates along the famous Strip are experiencing declines.

Over the past year, room prices at several Caesars Entertainment properties, monitored by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, have witnessed reductions of up to 75%, offering potential attendees more affordable accommodations leading up to the race weekend from November 16 to 18.

According to Dr. Mehmet Erdem, a professor of hotel operations and technology at UNLV’s William F. Harrah College of Hospitality, a decrease in average rates isn’t uncommon if booking momentum has slowed down.

However, he emphasizes that this decline may not necessarily indicate a decrease in anticipated revenue potential. Erdem told Review-Journal: “Despite the decrease in room rates, judging by the pricing of venues and restaurants for the race weekend, the demand is going to be high.”

Here’s a breakdown of the changes in four-day stays (Nov. 16-19) at four Caesars Entertainment properties, as per Review-Journal:

    The Linq Hotel

    • Nov. 2, 2022: $2,694.87;
    • Sept. 14: $1,395.54;
    • Oct. 16: $810.55;
    • Thursday: $778.58.

A 71% decrease from November 2022 and a 4% decrease in the past month.

    Paris Las Vegas

    • Nov. 2, 2022: $2,694.87
    • Sept. 14: $1,395.54
    • Oct. 16: $810.55
    • Thursday: $778.58

    Planet Hollywood

    • Nov. 2, 2022: $4,336.61
    • Sept. 14: $1,791.18
    • Oct. 16: $1,524.79
    • Thursday: $1,082.61

A 75% decrease from November 2022 and a 29% decrease in the past month.

    Caesars Palace

    • Nov. 2, 2022: $5,323.02
    • Sept. 14: $3,383.71
    • Oct. 16: $2,420.49
    • Thursday: $2,182.39

A 59% decrease from November 2022 and a 10% decrease in the past month.

Erdem notes that visitors to gaming destinations like Las Vegas tend to have higher risk tolerance, allowing for last-minute bookings in anticipation of a “good deal.”

Play’n GO breaks its record for number of rounds played in a single day | Yogonet International

    [ad_1]

Swedish gaming studio Play’n GO announced on Friday that it has broken its record for the number of rounds played in a single day.

“Underlining the enduring strength of the company and continued growth across global regulated markets, Play’n GO recorded close to a quarter of a billion rounds on 1 November – an all-time record for the nearly 20-year-old company,” the company announced in a press statement.

The new record follows a string of other achievements this year by the iGaming content supplier, including launching with major Tier 1 customers such as Sky, Sisal, BetMGM and Betway.

The company, renowned for developing products such as the popular Book of Dead franchise, also went live in land-based environments for the first time, garnered licenses across a number of iGaming States in the US, and launched global Network Leaderboard promotions across multiple countries and operators.

Magnus Olsson, Chief Commercial Officer at Play’n GO, said: “Continuing to break our own records is a testament to the hard work of everyone at Play’n GO, and to the appetite of players around the world for our games.

Our titles continue to be extremely sticky with the millions of unique players who enjoy our games every single day, and with blockbuster titles like Gargantoonz still on the horizon in 2023 we may finish the year with more records set. I’m really proud of our entire team at Play’n GO and it’s brilliant for everyone to be rewarded with a new all-time high.”

Founded in 2005, Play’n GO is the creator of some of the world’s most-played online casino games including Book of Dead, Reactoonz and Moon Princess. The company’s games are enjoyed by more than one million players every day. Today, the supplier delivers 300 premium titles to regulated operators in more than 25 jurisdictions.

Play’n GO’s new record follows the provider’s launch of a new Ancient China-inspired slot called Legacy of Dynasties earlier this week. The game invites players to uncover lost relics of the Three Kingdoms hidden within a modest antique shop.

For the game, Play’n GO delves into one of the most popular eras of Chinese history. This romanticized period of time is filled with war, intrigue, and power grabs as the country fractured into three, notes the supplier. Players can spin the 5×3 reels to create winning combinations as they find antique items related to the era and earn bonuses.

    [ad_1]

Melco Resorts & Entertainment has clocked operating revenues of $1.02 billion for the third quarter ending on September 30, 2023, representing an increase of approximately 321% from the $241.8 million posted for the comparable period in 2022.

The increase in total operating revenues was primarily attributable to the improved performance in all gaming segments and non-gaming operations following the relaxation of COVID-19 related restrictions in Macau in January 2023 and the opening of Studio City Phase 2, the company said.

A total of $812 million was derived from gaming activities, with an additional $205 million stemming from non-gaming operations. Net loss narrowed significantly to $16.3 million, compared with a $243.8 million net loss in the third quarter of 2022.

Macau’s recovery continued to grow from strength to strength into the third quarter of 2023, especially during the summer months, with our property visitation and casino player hours benefiting from this growth. We had solid performance over the October Golden Week and we saw a robust recovery during the remainder of October,” Lawrence Ho, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said.

Both gaming and non-gaming segment revenues improved, reinforced by our commitment to invest in world-class entertainment and enhance our non-gaming amenities. Our market-leading design standards were recognized by Prix Versailles with Morpheus being the only hotel in Macau to have the honor of being included as one of the World’s Most Beautiful Hotels.”

City of Dreams registered $506.2 million of total operating revenues, compared to $66.4 million in Q3 2022. Altira Macau saw its total operating revenues grow to $24.2 million in the third quarter from $2.4 million in Q3 of 2022.

  • “The progressive regulation of iGaming in LatAm encourages us to continue investing in this vertical” | Yogonet International

“The progressive regulation of iGaming in LatAm encourages us to continue investing in this vertical” | Yogonet International

    [ad_1]

Following the latest edition of the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas, Sebastián Salat, International President of Zitro, analyzed the company’s participation in the event, which took place from October 9 to 12 at The Venetian Expo, as well as the outlook of the gaming industry in Latin America.

In an exclusive dialogue with Yogonet, the executive reflected on the large number of visitors to its booth at G2E, where the supplier of gaming machines and iGaming titles exhibited its most extensive and diverse product line to date.

He also highlighted the brand’s rapid growth worldwide and its leadership in Latin American markets. In addition, he discussed how the advancement of online gaming regulatory processes in this region will drive Zitro Digital’s expansion.

While there are still important events on the 2023 calendar, in a way G2E closes the year for many of the executives who are part of this industry. What is your assessment of the latest edition and the products presented by Zitro in Las Vegas?

This year’s G2E was the best attended we have ever had in Zitro’s history. The massive public attendance at our booth is the consequence of the spectacular transformation process that our company has undergone, which today is the leading company in all Latin American markets, mentioning Mexico prominently, and is registering rapid growth in Europe and in the North American market, where we are already present in 13 jurisdictions, including California, Oklahoma, Florida, Arizona, New Mexico, Minnesota, Virginia, Ohio, Connecticut, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, and Kansas.

On the other hand, in the year 2023, we have more than doubled the business of Zitro Digital, positioning our company as one of the essential game providers for digital casinos anywhere in the world. The affluence to our stand of companies that operate in this channel, whether operators, platforms, distributors, or aggregators, has been spectacular, and the digital world has already discovered the amazing profitability of our games.

Regarding the products exhibited, and the way they were presented in our stand, we have received many congratulations. Those who visit our booth will undoubtedly corroborate the enormous progress Zitro has made in the breadth and diversity of its product range which makes our booth at G2E a must for any casino operator in the world.

Of the products presented, which do you think will be the most celebrated by Latin American operators? Will you be developing specific products for Spain or any of the Latin American markets this year?

At G2E we have presented the most extensive and diverse product line we have ever presented at any previous event. Of course, Zitro’s presence in the world today is greater than we have ever had, and it took a lot of hard work in 2023 to be able to serve our customers in the many markets we are in.

From our wide range of games I would like to highlight Fu Frog, Fu Pots, and Billy The Pig for the Glare Illusion and Glare Allure cabinets, as well as Lún Pán Dú and Mighty Hammer Ultimate for the Glare Altius cabinet. All of them are safe bets for Latin American casinos. The Mighty Hammer Ultimate game has been chosen as the basis for our first WAP network in Latin America, a country that we hope to announce soon.

    Zitro's stand at G2E Las Vegas 2023

Regarding whether we develop specific games for Spain or Latin America I must say that we have observed that great games tend to be successful across all regions, although they certainly need to be adapted to the tastes of the demographics of the players in each market.

This is what we have done with our first game for WAP: we started from a successful game like Mighty Hammer and transformed it into Mighty Hammer Ultimate, a version of the game suitable for the players it is aimed at, but capable of paying the big prizes expected from the WAP interconnection of machines in various casinos.

Another good example is the gaming room market in Spain, where Zitro is the outstanding leader. All the successful games that Zitro has been launching for the global casino market are adapted to the regulatory requirements of the Spanish gaming halls and made available to the operators of these establishments.

How does your regional strategy vary, the gradual opening of the online gaming market in more and more Latin American jurisdictions? What is the importance of this segment for the company?

Zitro Digital is already today an indisputable pillar of Zitro’s growth, and the progressive regulation of online gaming in multiple jurisdictions in Latin America and the world encourages us to continue investing in this business vertical.

Today, at Zitro Digital, we have an extensive library of games that includes our video bingo games, as well as the Zitro video slot games that have changed the history of our company, and that have placed us among the most prominent content providers in the industry.

Additionally, this year 2023 we have taken some steps beyond launching in digital format the games that have triumphed in the land-based market: we have started to make available to our customers games for special dates, ideal for seasonal promotions, as well as various tools, such as tournaments or missions, that accompany our games and help the operator in their distribution and promotion.

LatAm is a key region for the company. What characteristics would you highlight from this year’s performance in the region’s main markets and what do you see as the main challenges for the coming year?

Our only concerns in Latin America stem from the socio-political situation in key markets, such as Argentina. Our company is the undisputed leader in the region. We have the product, and we have a solid, capable, and cohesive team there.

The demand for Zitro products from operators and players is overwhelming, but the rulers of many Latin American countries still need to ensure the political – and exchange rate – stability that operators need to be able to invest in and that consumers also need to be able to spend some of their income on leisure and entertainment.

Is Brazil a market to be addressed from its imminent opening to online gaming? And do you think it will open its land-based gaming market, once the first objective of regulating sports betting and online gaming has been achieved?

At Zitro we are working to be prepared for the opening of the Brazilian market, both digital and land-based. We hope that how gambling in both channels is regulated will allow a feasible development of this activity.
