NASHVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) — ABC11 is highlighting people and products that are North Carolina-made, with the spotlight on Braswell Family Farms.
Braswell Family Farms in Nashville, North Carolina, has grown from a small local operation into a national supplier, even playing a role in a White House tradition.
The family-run farm has been in operation for over 80 years. Founded in 1943, it’s now operated by the fourth generation of Braswells.
The company has become one of the largest specialty egg producers and organic feed mills on the East Coast. It supplies premium feed and eggs for Eggland’s Best and Natural Choice and provides thousands of dyed eggs each year for the White House Easter Egg Roll.
“All of our eggs, I would say 99.9% go into grocery retail, and that’s either through direct-to-the-store delivery or to a warehouse. So most major retailers up and down the East Coast and independents, really from North Carolina to eastern Pennsylvania,” said Trey Braswell, president and CEO of Braswell Family Farms.
Trey Braswell, proudly leading the fourth generation of the family business, said giving back is part of their company’s mission.
“We fairly consistently donate eggs to the food banks around here. And then, a few times a year, we’re donating a full load, which is 23,000 dozen, into the food bank system. Mostly here in North Carolina, we absolutely take those opportunities and are thankful for that,” he said.
Now, Braswell Family Farms is entering a new phase, expanding in Nash County. The company recently purchased property in the Nashville Business Center to grow its egg processing operations.
Grateful to be North Carolina-made for more than 80 years, the Braswell family hopes that legacy continues for generations to come.
