Nathan Fillion, Jenna Dewan, Eric Winter, ‘Rookie’ cast on season 8, who spills show secrets

The cast of “The Rookie” takes on a whole new set of challenges in season eight, starting with some of the team heading to Prague.

“Monica (guest star Bridget Regan) has an immunity deal with the FBI. John (Fillion) and Bailey (Jenna Dewan) go along to kind of babysit Monica. Harper’s (Mekia Cox) there. And we’re having her set up a sting, like a super spy sting,” explained Nathan Fillion, who plays John.

“It’s so cool to be part of a show where our story line in the very first episode is a sting operation in Prague. It’s just so great,” added Dewan.

Meanwhile, the team back at home hints at some big action they have to deal with.

“We do end up going down for a pretty intense mission at the docks. That’s about as much as I can say about that,” teased Melissa O’Neil.

“The action this season is honestly bigger than ever,” added Shawn Ashmore. “I do feel like… this is our biggest season.”

When asked to sum up what season eight is going to be all about, the cast gave some interesting answers.

“Season eight is the season of bigger, bolder, better,” said Mekia Cox.

“Season eight is the season of complications,” added Alyssa Diaz.

“Action, adventure, comedy, character development, and a lot of fun,” said Ashmore.

“Explosiveness,” said Eric Winter.

“It’s going to be an explosive season,” added O’Neil with a laugh.

“Season eight will be the season of revelations. How’s that,” asked Richard T. Jones.

Speaking of revelations, Winter revealed who he thought might be the cast member to spill show secrets.

“Richard T Jones,” said Eric Winter. “Only because he’s right there and I like to tease him!”

Jones had a good rebuttal.

“I could. I could,” added Jones. “But I’m gonna leave it to Deric (Augustine). He’s the newbie and they give him a lot more grace than they were giving me!”

Augustine admitted his social media accounts could give away show secrets.

“Eric was a spoiler king. Now I’m a spoiler king. I think it’s because sometimes on TikTok I really just look, I post and ask for forgiveness later! But I haven’t gotten in trouble though.”

Lisseth Chavez had some questions about that!

“I felt like I was a rookie forever I was mindful of like I need to cover this, I gotta cover that… you get away with…”

“Yeah, I get away with a little bit,” Augustine continued.

As you can tell, the cast has as much fun off screen as they do on screen, and that’s due to the family-like atmosphere on set.

“I think the chemistry that we have here translates onto the screen so it is such a gift and a blessing,” said Diaz.

“I feel genuinely blessed to be amongst such a wonderful talented, kind, goofy funny group of people,” added Cox.

“The Rookie” airs Tuesdays at 10pm EST/ 9pm CST on ABC and streams the next day on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
