Despite not standing out as a cheerful personality, nothing could’ve prepared us for Hugh Grant’s candid reaction to filming the upcoming prequel movie, Wonka.
The 63-year-old actor plays an oompa loompa, alongside Timothée Chalamet, who assumed the protagonist role of Willy Wonka, previously portrayed by Johnny Depp and Gene Wilder.
To achieve the otherworldly look of an oompa loompa, the production reportedly used a mixture of animation, motion capture, and multiple cameras on Hugh’s face to capture his facial expressions.
Hugh Grant gave a brutally honest response regarding his experience filming for the new Wonka movie as an oompa loompa
Hugh recently told Metro: “It was like a crown of thorns, very uncomfortable,” after being asked about what it was like working with all the technology needed for the animation.
He recalled: “I made a big fuss about it, I couldn’t have hated the whole thing more.”
According to the publication, the London native was unsure throughout filming as to whether he was supposed to “act with my body or not, and I never received a satisfactory answer.” He said: “And frankly, what I did with my body was terrible, and it’s all been replaced with an animator.”
Asked if it was all worth it when he saw the final product, he shrugged “Not really,” while the other cast members laughed around him, Metro reported.
“I made a big fuss about it, I couldn’t have hated the whole thing more,” Hugh said
Upon being asked whether the dancing aspect of the film was fun for him, Hugh replied “it should be fun, but that was done by the animator.”
The actor continued: “It’s very confusing, with CGI now, you can’t tell what’s going on.” As per the publication, it wasn’t just Hugh’s character or Wonka itself he had an issue with, as he jokingly admitted later in the interview, “I slightly hate [making films] but I have lots of children and need money.”
Hugh said he was unsure about whether he was supposed to “act with my body or not, and I never received a satisfactory answer”
The Notting Hill actor has a total of five children with two women: actress Tinglan Hong and his now-wife Anna Eberstein, People reported.
As per Metro, all wasn’t bad on the set of Wonka, as Hugh revealed it was “quite fun, messing around and trying new lines.”
Wonka director Paul King had reportedly cast Hugh in the role, as he previously said he did so because he thought the actor was “the funniest, most sarcastic s**t I’ve ever met.”
Upon being asked whether the dancing aspect of the film was fun for him, Hugh replied “It should be fun, but that was done by the animator”
In an interview with Radio Times, Paul said: “The Oompa Loompas don’t have any dialogue in the book, really, and the films, they’ve sort of got very little. But in the book, they do have these very, very long songs – or they’re presented as songs, they’re poems.
“But they’re so funny, and I was reading them sort of trying to get a voice in my head, and they’re so sort of biting and sarcastic and scornful and incredibly funny, and Hugh’s voice just kept coming towards me.”
Upon being cast as the curious being of small proportions, the Bridget Jones star has been met with some controversy from actors with dwarfism who have reportedly argued that the casting took away roles from little people.
In previous Willy Wonka movies, oompa loompas were played by actors with dwarfism.
George Coppen, a British actor with dwarfism, took issue with the forthcoming film for casting Hugh instead of a small actor.
He told the BBC: “A lot of actors [with dwarfism] feel like we are being pushed out of the industry we love. A lot of people, myself included, argue that dwarfs should be offered everyday roles in dramas and soaps. But we aren’t getting offered those roles.”
The first Wonka trailer came out in July, with Hugh stealing the show as he appeared dressed in a purple tweed suit with bloomers and matching pointy-toed, pom-pom-adorned shoes.
Wonka will hit the cinemas on Friday (December 8).
Fans thought Hugh’s brutally honest answers were ironic as “it’s exactly what a real oompa loompa would’ve said”

Coming out to announce your sexual orientation is entirely up to each individual’s preferences; some like to communicate it with their surroundings while others don’t, for many reasons.
However, Billie Eilish just reminded people why it is never appropriate to ask anybody about their sexuality without the person’s immediate consent beforehand.
Taking to her Instagram page following a red-carpet interview with Variety asking about ongoing speculations regarding her sexual identity, Billie accused the outlet of “outing” her.
Taking to her Instagram page following a red-carpet interview with Variety asking about her sexual identity, Billie accused the outlet of “outing” her
The grammy-award-winning artist wrote: “Thanks variety for my award and for also outing me on a red carpet at 11 am instead of talking about anything else that matters.
“I like boys and girls leave me alone about it please literally who cares stream ‘what was i made for’.”
Billie’s clarification follows her appearance walking the red carpet at Variety’s Hitmakers event on Saturday (December 2), where she was presented with the award for Film Song of the Year alongside her brother Finneas for “What Was I Made For,” which featured in the summer blockbuster Barbie.
While gracing the red carpet, the 21-year-old singer was asked about the viral comments she had made alluding to her sexual orientation during an interview for Variety last month.
In the November profile in Variety, Billie spoke about her feelings for women and said: “I’ve never really felt like I could relate to girls very well”
An interviewer asked Billie: “We gotta talk about your cover story because you mentioned that you felt like for a long time, women didn’t like you.
“And when that came out, all the women were like, ‘No, we love her!’ How did that reception feel?”
As she nervously giggled along with the reporter, Billie replied: “I’m still scared of them, but I think they’re pretty.”
The interviewer went on to question: “Billie, did you mean to come out in that story?” to which the Ocean Eyes hitmaker quipped: “Girl, no I didn’t, but I kinda thought, wasn’t it obvious? I didn’t realize people didn’t know.”
She continued: “I just don’t really believe in it.
“I’m just like, ‘Why can’t we just exist?’
“I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I just didn’t talk about it. Whoops.
“But I saw the article, and I was like, ‘Oh, I guess I came out today!’
“It’s exciting to me because I guess people didn’t know, but it’s cool that they know.”
“I’m attracted to them for real,” Billie told Variety last month
Billie followed her answer by admitting that she was “nervous talking about” the subject on the red carpet, before adding: “I am for the girls.”
The interviewer continued her conversation with the music star by asking her about her upcoming album, igniting an enthusiastic answer from Billie, who explained just how “excited” she was for its release.
“Thanks variety for my award and for also outing me on a red carpet at 11 am instead of talking about anything else that matters,” the singer wrote
Despite the brief exchange appearing friendly at first glance, it is now clear that Billie wasn’t too keen on having her personal life exposed in that unprompted manner.
In the November profile in Variety, Billie spoke about her feelings for women and said: “I’ve never really felt like I could relate to girls very well.
“I love them so much.
“I love them as people.
“I’m attracted to them as people.
“I’m attracted to them for real.”
“Did you mean to come out in that story?” an interviewer asked Billie at Variety’s Hitmakers red-carpet event
As per the publication, Billie went on to reveal: “I have deep connections with women in my life, the friends in my life, the family in my life.
“I’m physically attracted to them.
“But I’m also so intimidated by them and their beauty and their presence.”
After Billie’s comments regarding her attraction to women, as well as her disappointing red carpet interview, the singer went on to appear in another red carpet event on Sunday (December 3) for the 3rd Annual Academy Museum Gala.
You can watch the red-carpet interview with Variety below:
This is unfortunately not the first time the music talent’s sexuality has been scrutinized.
In an interview with Elle in 2021, Billie revealed that she hadn’t felt safe leaving her own home after her address was leaked online and stalkers and paparazzi started showing up in her yard.
As her fame grew, the musician said she had endured relentless scrutiny on the internet for everything from the way she dresses to whom she dates, “or my sexuality!” she told the publication.
Outing is the act of telling someone else (or others) about a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity without their approval, WebMD states.
The website explains that while in some cases, outing is done without any harmful intent, other times, the person revealing the information does so to retaliate or to bring shame.
It further states that whether outing is deliberate or unintentional, it violates someone’s privacy.
“And if you’ve been outed, it may seriously affect your physical, mental, and financial well-being,” WebMD reveals.
Fans came in support of Billie Eilish
According to the website, outing is different from “coming out,” which is when you voluntarily share your sexual orientation or gender identity.
Additionally, coming out, especially if you have a supportive community to lean on, can bring emotional benefits and even help lower the levels of cortisol, a stress hormone.
Outing, on the other hand, takes away the power of those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (or questioning), or others (LGBTQ+) to tell their own story, the website stated.
Moreover, outing affects people across the gender spectrum, including those who are nonbinary, asexual, or intersex, too.
Some fans were surprised Billie’s sexuality wasn’t common knowledge
Mario‘s predecessor was writing some Java code that parsed textual input. Thus, it needed to be able to turn the string "true" into the boolean value true, but also needed to handle "True" and "TRUE".
Now, in Java, the obvious answer would be to use the equalsIgnoresCase String member function. if (value.equalsIgnoresCase("true"))…. I mean, obvious to you or me, anyway.
But if you’re a developer with a hammer, you’re going to turn every problem into a nail. And when that hammer is regular expressions, you’re going to turn every problem into two problems.
Again, the goal here is to turn a string containing “true” into a boolean value, but this actually has the bonus of turning any string containing “true” as a substring into a boolean true, including “not true”. So it’s incorrect, but just so happens to work because there are no input strings like that.
I also think the ClassCastException is mysterious, and unless mSourceParams.get throws that out, I don’t think that’s a real expected exception here. And if mSourceParams.getdoes throw a ClassCastException, I think there’s a deeper problem.

ST. LOUIS—Vowing to provide what could technically be considered an alternative, third-party candidate Patrick Laine promised Monday to fill whatever void was still left between centrist Democrats and centrist Republicans. “Americans deserve choice, which is why I’m running on a platform of whatever extremely narrow ideology sits between moderate Republicans and moderate Democrats,” said Laine, explaining that as president he would find compromise between the extreme centrists on both sides of the aisle. “Whether it’s on issues of immigration, gun rights, or abortion, I promise to find even more milquetoast opinions than anyone else. With so much animosity among centrists of all stripes, I believe people are desperately looking for someone who embodies the tiny sliver of space separating the most middle-of-the-road views.” At press time, Laine was attacked as too radical.

This is a great way to answer the under pressure question employers love so much. Why do they ask about it? Well, here’s a honest description what they mean by it.
There’s a little bit of geekiness in all of us. Who doesn’t have that one thing about which they strangely know a lot and pride themselves on being experts? Whether it’s gardening, the Harry Potter universe, or video games, it’s not such a bad thing to channel our inner Sheldon Cooper sometimes. Sure, he’s a bit socially awkward, but that doesn’t take away from his charm.
