I’m not going to pretend that I’ve lived the most exciting life out there, so my “wildest” party stories don’t compare much to even the average person’s experiences.

However, I don’t think the average person has seen even half of what these stories describe. Particularly the last one, which unlike so many stories we see posted online is confirmed to be absolutely real:

Reminder not to take things that make you happy for granted!

The holiday season often forces us to think a little harder, a little more intentionally, about the beauty in our lives. Occasionally, amidst the general tones of love and joy we're also reminded to focus on the specific things that bring us happiness – not just now, but always. Tonight, I was acutely reminded of what I love about my wife… By her car. I want to share it with you in the hopes that we can raise a glass to those things that bring us joy – big, small, and everything in between. Cheers!

Woman Helps Daughter’s Friend With Her Matted Hair, Her Dad’s Fiancée Now Says She Owes Her Money

Parents will do anything they can to help their children, and sometimes, that means extending a hand to their kids’ friends as well. But how far should they go in helping someone else’s child?

Below, you’ll find a story that was recently shared on Reddit, detailing how one mother found herself in hot water after simply trying to help her young daughter’s friend, as well as some of the replies readers have shared.

This mom didn’t hesitate after her daughter’s friend reached out asking for help with her hair

But not everyone was thrilled with the girl’s newly detangled hair

Mental health issues can often take a toll on an individual’s personal hygiene

In a perfect world, we would all have soft, clean and healthy hair. But in reality, it’s not always possible to look like the models in a shampoo commercial. And among the many factors that can impact personal hygiene and the health of a person’s hair is the state of their mental health. The mom who shared this story noted that A’s matted hair was the result of a depressive episode, which is perfectly understandable.

According to Healthline, is it common for mental health issues to manifest in an individual neglecting their personal hygiene. Depression often causes immense fatigue and a lack of motivation. Getting out of bed and into the shower to wash your hair can feel impossible when you barely even have the strength to stay awake.

Brushing hair can also be a challenge for a depressed individual; it might even be physically painful. As time goes on, these tasks can seem even more daunting, as brushing or shampooing your hair will likely become more difficult after days or weeks of not doing it.

With patience, matted hair can typically be detangled

When it comes to matted hair, although it’s not ideal, Healthline notes that it’s not always necessary to treat the problem with a drastic cut. It may be possible to detangle the hair through saturating it with a detangling or moisturizing conditioner, loosening it gently by hand then with a comb, rinsing it with cool water, and then combing through the hair again.

Once hair has been detangled, future matting can be prevented by regularly brushing and washing the hair, using moisturizing shampoos and conditioners, sleeping with hair in a silk scarf or bonnet, trimming the ends of the hair regularly and using protein treatments on the hair from time to time.

While A’s hair in this particular story was impacted by her health issues, she’s only a 13-year-old girl, so she should not be held fully responsible for her own hygiene. And according to the Child Protection Company, seeing a kid with poor personal hygiene, such as unwashed or matted hair, might be a red flag that they’re experiencing neglect.

Parents are responsible for their children’s hygiene, and ignoring it can be considered neglect

BetterHelp explains that child neglect is “when a parent fails to provide sufficient emotional, physical, or financial support for their child,” and it can have long-term psychological impacts on an individual. Parents are responsible for providing for and protecting their kids. So if they’re not ensuring that their little ones are healthy, housed and fed and clean, they are increasing their risk of developing mental health issues such as anxiety and depression or PTSD.

When it comes to how kids and their parents can support friends who appear to be neglected by their own parents, Kids Help Phone recommends being there to listen to them, showing them support, reaching out to see how you can help, believing what the friend tells you and checking in with them frequently. And as a parent, if you feel it’s necessary to involve authorities or a third party, don’t hesitate to reach out to a hotline such as the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline.

Feel free to share your thoughts on this situation in the comments below, pandas. Then if you’re interested in reading another Bored Panda article discussing a parent helping out their child’s friend, look no further than right here

50 Times People’s Responses Were Comedy Gold, And Got Shared On The ‘Savage Responds’ Page

Bored Panda got in touch with Peter Chibueze Ofoegbu, the man behind the “Savage Responds” Instagram page and he was kind enough to answer some of our questions. First and foremost, we were interested to hear why he made the page and how it has grown over the last few years.

“Back then before I created Savage Responds, I had always been a lover of memes, going online looking for funny content, sharing memes, and reposting to make people laugh. Around 2018 I decided to create my own page, the idea was that, since I love memes, why don’t I create mine and turn it into a passion?”

Trump Selects VP Running Mate – Bill Tope, Humor Times

Following months of media speculation, Donald Trump has selected his 2024 VP running mate.

After much public conjecture and overt deliberation by the candidate himself, former President Donald J. Trump has selected his 2024 VP running mate.

    Photo: Gage Skidmore, flickr.com.

It was once thought that Trump might select a female vice president, a speculation entailing such GOP luminaries as former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, N. Dakota governor Kristi Noem (“She has the nicest ass,” averred the ex-president), Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, and even songstress superstar Stefani Germanotta (Lady Maga). Also figuring prominently in the selection process was sex-device entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy; Rep. Jim Jordan (R. OH) and high-end evening wear model Governor Ron DeSantis (R. FL).

Delivering an address at a sweat-shop tennis sneaker factory in Little Rock, Arkansas on Thursday, where 120 children under ten are employed, Trump railed against those RINOS who had in the past supported even the slightest vestiges of industrial trade unions. The ex-president paused in his speech to unexpectedly announce his VP selection: the newly defrocked congressman George Santos (R. NY). The children, who did not speak English, applauded politely.

“Santos,” boasted Trump, “has has been in Washington for only a brief period, however, he has held positions of immense power even in that short time. He’s told me all about being a Congressman, Secretary of State, a General in the Marines, an Admiral in the Navy, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and he’s both written and starred in blockbuster movies in Hollywood. This shows his versatility,” said Trump.  The ex-president pointed to Santos’s tenure as Pope as evidence of Santos’s willingness to “theocratize the nation.”

“Secondly,” Trump went on, “he’s not intimidated by the fake-news, deep-state, mainstream media, like the failing New York Times and morally bankrupt MSNBC.”

Asked by a Fox News reporter how he accounted for Santos’s auspicious disposition, Trump answered at once: “Because, Santos has literally no shame.” He smiled proudly, noting that this makes Santos an especially appropriate stand-in in the event that Trump himself meets an untimely end.

“You never know,” said Trump, “I might stop eating again and maybe this time the Speaker won’t drop by.”

Israel Assures It Doing Everything Possible To Minimize Civilians

TEL AVIV—Addressing observers concerned about the toll of the nation’s ongoing incursion into Gaza, Israeli officials assured critics Friday that it was doing everything possible to minimize civilians. “To those expressing apprehension about this war, just know that our troops are taking every effort to mitigate civilian life,” said Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, explaining that he remained laser-focused on taking the necessary precautions to reduce civilians in Gaza or prevent them entirely. “Let me be clear: Our war is against Hamas. We have explicitly instructed our commanders that they should take pains so there are as few innocent men, women, and children in Gaza as humanly possible.” Netanyahu then added that because of the unfortunate realities of war, it was always sadly possible that a few Gazans might survive.

  • Student Wishing For Food For Christmas Brings Teacher To Tears In Viral Video

Student Wishing For Food For Christmas Brings Teacher To Tears In Viral Video

    [ad_1]

Christmas should be a jolly time, but for some, it is a time when sad realities hit extra hard.

Cheri Guy, who works as an English teacher at Desert Pines High School in Las Vegas, recently went viral after she shared a TikTok video revealing her students’ heartfelt gift ideas.

Cheri explained how her school has a “Wishmas” program to help get children what they want for the holidays.

She said: “Not only do [the kids] say what they would like, but they say why it’s important to them.”

But the emotional teacher found herself fighting back tears, as she went on to read some of the wishes that kids were yearning for, with a handful of the propositions shedding light into what their private lives were like.

One child had written: “I would like some black slippers to protect my feet from the cold.”

Another penned: “A bag of takis… It will help me not be hungry.”

Meanwhile, other pupils chose to use their wish to offer a helping hand, with one kid, in particular, expressing hope that all the other students’ wishes would come true.

Another student just wanted their sister to have a good birthday.

Cheri went on to reveal that due to the school teaching 3,000 students, she couldn’t make all of their wishes come true. Nevertheless, she expressed her hopes to get some assistance from the TikTok sphere.

In her initial video, she asked the internet: “If you’re interested in helping, DM me, comment, let me know, spread this around. Maybe we could do something to try and make some of these things happen.”

As news spread at an exponential speed online, the caring teacher didn’t have to wait long before the results of her call for help started to show.

She told Today: “We have a lot of kids who are in the foster system, we have a lot of kids who are living in poverty. These kids are facing enormous stress outside of the classroom.”

As a result of her viral TikTok video, the teacher has been able to make some of her students’ wishes come true.

Cheri said: “We have well over 300 wishes granted, which is amazing,” though there are 950 students participating in the Wishmas program in total.

As a result of Cheri’s initiative, numerous strangers stepped in to help, sending gifts to grant over 300 of the students’ holiday wishes

She continued: “A few of the seniors are asking for a yearbook because they can’t afford it. I’m looking at the spreadsheet right now and one kid asked for help paying for their cap and gown for graduation.

“We have a student who asked for a textbook called ‘Lectures on Physics’ because he wants to be an astrophysicist.”

The teacher further stated: “One of the most incredible things about Wishmas is these kids are realizing that they are loved — and not just by the staff at school, but by strangers around the country (who) care about them and believe in them.”

Cheri has set up a series of links to help people online donate to the Wishmas program.

Social media users felt grateful for people like Cheri and her “incredible soul”
