Following on from her atmospheric pop bangers Balenciaga Covered Eyes, Ego and Milk, Swedish pop royalty Agnes returns with brand new track WAKE UP. The star continues the road to her upcoming studio album Beautiful Madness, which looks set to follow classics Magic Still Exists and fan-favourite Veritas.
WAKE UP is written by Agnes, Hannah Wilson, Kerstin Ljungström, Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare. Vincent Pontare, Salem Al Fakir and Frans Bryngel produce the track. The quietly empowering number sees Agnes sing: “Wake up! It’s time for you to wake up, Wake up! To all the power you got, Wake up! It’s time for you to wake up, You and I are so much more than our history!”
The upcoming album found a source of inspiration in Irish alt-pop goddess Róisín Murphy and the art work of Mark Rothko, with Agnes seeking to capture something raw and truly authentic in the set: ‘This time, I wanted everything to be more naked and direct. Instead of building layer upon layer in the production, I wanted to let each element have its space – it should feel rawer and less polished.’
Gathering an all-star level team of songwriters and producers: Kerstin Ljungström, Vincent Pontare, Salem Al Fakir, Magnus Lidehäll, Alex Aris and British songwriter Hanna Wilson, Agnes is gearing up to reveal something truly special in the upcoming album.
