HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Three people were injured Sunday morning when a security guard opened fire outside a bar in the Woodland Heights area, police said.

The shooting happened at about 3:30 a.m. along North Main, near Pecore.

According to the Houston Police Department, the security guard said workers told him there was a man refusing to leave the bathroom. The security guard went into the bathroom, escorted the man out, and a verbal fight began.

Police said the man was with six or seven friends at the bar, and at one point, those friends began attacking the security guard. During this time, the security guard said he thought someone was reaching for his gun while he was being attacked, so he fired it.

HPD said two people were shot in the chest, and a bystander, who is a worker at the bar, was shot in the hand.

Police are still working on gathering more information on the case, and the prosecutors will be the ones to decide whether the guard will be charged or not.
