HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Police are looking for a woman after a fight at a gas station led to a fatal stabbing in Houston’s Second Ward, according to the Houston Police Department.

The incident occurred on Friday night in the 3300 block of Navigation Boulevard, police reported.

Lt. Ali said that’s where first responders found a woman, estimated to be 25 to 30 years old, with a stab wound to her upper right chest. She added that a friend was performing CPR when they arrived.

The woman was taken to the hospital, but she was later pronounced dead, according to Ali.

Investigators said their preliminary investigation suggests the women argued at a nearby gas station before the stabbing, reportedly over some items.

The women met again in an open field near the gas station, where a second fight broke out, Ali said, adding that it was then that the fatal stabbing happened.

Police said they do not know if the women knew each other, but the suspect is known to be homeless in the area.

Officers said the suspect was not at the scene when they arrived and had not been detained as of Saturday morning.

HPD is asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
