RICHMOND, Texas (KTRK) — A woman was hospitalized after a verbal argument turned into a shooting early Sunday morning, according to Richmond police.

In a statement, the Richmond Police Department said officers responded to a call about a possible shooting in the 300 block of Damon Street at about 1:15 a.m. When officers arrived, they met with a woman who said that another woman had been shot, according to the statement.

Police said they eventually found the victim with non-life-threatening injuries to the right side of her head. The victim was then taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Katy, where she is in stable condition, according to officials.

Authorities said the investigation shows a verbal argument turned physical, with talk about the victim having a gun as well as the suspect. This corroborated the initial 911 call, according to police, with the eventual suspect being the one who made the call.

Richmond PD said investigators have very limited information other than a verbal fight turned into a shooting, stating that the details are “sketchy as statements changed several times.”

According to officials, no charges have been filed and the investigation is still ongoing.
