One woman is dead and a second woman was left badly hurt after they were each hit by a car in two separate incidents in Philadelphia on Friday, according to the police department.
Hit-and-run kills woman in Overbrook
The first crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 26 at the intersection of 54th Street and Lancaster Avenue in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia, police reported.
According to investigators, a black-colored Infiniti with a Delaware paper tag was driving eastbound on Lancaster Avenue when it hit a 77-year-old woman.
After the crash, the driver reversed their vehicle down Lancaster Avenue and drove south before dropping off a female passenger at a pizza shop near 56th Street and Girard Avenue, police explained.
Police said that the woman who was hit by the car was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Crash leaves woman badly hurt in Northeast Philly
Then, about two hours later, another woman was hit by a car in Northeast Philadelphia, police told NBC10.
That crash happened near Levick and Walker streets, police explained.
Officials said that the woman was left seriously hurt after a man hit her with his car.
The woman was taken to a hospital where she underwent surgery, police said.
The driver was eventually found and taken into custody, according to police.
