Westbound I-70 closed after vehicle hydroplanes off road

DENVER (KDVR) — Westbound Interstate 70 is closed Saturday evening after a vehicle hydroplaned off the road near Vail.

Colorado State Patrol told FOX31 that the call came in reporting a single-vehicle injury crash at 5:11 p.m.

It was dry in Denver, but storms hit mountain areas. CSP said the vehicle hydroplaned off the road, and westbound I-70 remains closed between Exit 190 at Vail Pass Summit and Exit 180 at East Vail.

Colorado Department of Transportation cameras showed water on the road in the area, and traffic backed up.

The driver’s condition was unknown. FOX31 is working to learn more and this article will be updated.
