Weekend Box Office: Scream

Scream VI debuted on top at the weekend box office with $44.5 million. Its a franchise best opening in non-adjusted terms, but comes in 3rd after 2 and 3 respectively. Its also the widest release for the franchise, opening in 3,675 theaters. Its opening also surpassed Scream 4’s entire adjusted total domestic haul ($44.1). The film received a B+ Cinemascore, and a 74% Recommend from PostTrak (a huge 19% increase from 5).

Creed III came in 2nd, dropping 53% to $27.1 million. Its the best second weekend for the Creed franchise and has pushed the film passed the $100 million mark.

Adam Driver’s 65 debuted in 3rd with a well-above-expectations $12.3 million. That said, audience response was as weak as critics, landed a C+ Cinemascore and a 37% Recommend from PostTrak.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($7 million, -45%) and Cocaine Bear ($6.2 million, -44%) rounded out the Top 5. Woody Harrelson’s Champions debuted in 7th with $5.1 million. The target-audience loved it as expected, giving it an A Cinemascore and a 66% Recommend from PostTrak.
