❄️🌡️ Winter storm in North Texas:

Road conditions are expected to remain hazardous Wednesday morning after temperatures drop back below freezing overnight, officials with the National Weather Service said on Tuesday.

While temperatures rose above freezing Tuesday for the first time in days, a dense, high cloud cover spoiled the chances of efficient ice melting, according to a NWS forecast. Anything that melted during the day is likely to refreeze when temperatures drop overnight.

Additionally, a potential for freezing fog across much of North Texas early Wednesday morning could inhibit visibility and lead to light accumulations of new ice, according to the NWS.

“Roads will still be slick, particularly for both untreated and smaller side roads, so make sure to continue to give yourself plenty of time during your commute,” NWS officials said.

Highs are expected to climb into the mid-40s Wednesday, and the sun will come out, so road conditions are likely to start improving Wednesday afternoon, according to the forecast.

Crews with the Texas Department of Transportation were on day 7, on Tuesday, of round-the-clock shifts in response to the winter weather, officials said.

“As we look to continue clean-up efforts later this week, we ask motorists to maintain safe speeds, give our crews and work convoys extra space, and ‘Drive like a Texan’… kind, courteous, and safe,” a TXDOT spokesperson said.
