Wedding of the Prince of Leiningen and Grand Duchess Maria Kirillovna of Russia

Royal Guests and Relatives from around Europe celebrated the Wedding of the Prince of Leiningen and Grand Duchess Maria Kirillovna of Russia at the Kyrill Palace in Coburg on this day in 1925, 100 years ago!

The 6th Prince of Leiningen, son of the 5th Prince of Leiningen and Princess Feodore of Hohenlohe-Langenburg, married Grand Duchess Maria Kirillovna of Russia, daughter of Grand Duke Kirill Vladimirovich of Russia and Princess Victoria Melita of Saxe-Coburg und Gotha, at the Kyrill Palace, also called the Villa Edinburgh, in Coburg.

Grand Duchess Maria Kirillovna wore Diamond Stars on a Kokoshnik and a Diamond Necklace created from her mother’s Tiara, atop a Russian Court Dress from her late grandmother, Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna.

Royal Guests and Relatives in attendance included Tsar Ferdinand of Bulgaria, the Duke and Duchess of Saxe-Coburg und Gotha, Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna, Princess Nicholas of Greece, Princess Alexandra, Princess of Hohenlohe-Langenburg, Princess Beatrice, Duchess of Galliera,  Princess Marina and Princess Elizabeth of Greece, Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg und Gotha.

The Prince and Princess of Leiningen had seven children, including Prince Karl of Leiningen and Princess Margarita of Hohenzollern, and remained married until his death in a Russian Concentration Camp in 1946. The Grand Duchess passed away in 1951.
