Warmer today with a stray storm

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Today

Temperatures will be cooler in the mid 80s. Scattered thunderstorms are likely to form by the mid afternoon becoming more widespread by the evening. There is a low chance for severe thunderstorms and flash flooding this afternoon. The main threat with any severe storms will be potential damaging winds. Lows overnight only falling into the low 70s. 

Tuesday

Look for areas of fog in the morning. Skies will remain mostly cloudy with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible.  It will be hotter and more humid with highs in the upper 80s. 

Wednesday-Saturday

Another heat wave is setting up and the 90s back a strong return on Wednesday.  The Heat Index will be around 104 Wednesday and 105-108 Thursday through Saturday. Heat Advisory’s are most likely on Thursday and Friday with highs in the upper 90s each day. A chance for thunderstorms will be possible each day but it most likely on Saturday.

Watching the tropics:

A tropical wave has a 60% chance of developing in the next 7 days. The path of this wave will possibly impact the Southeast, so we need to watch its development closely. This will either mean more clouds and/or storm chances at worst here in the Charlotte area.
