Vehicle crash into tree sparks fire, leaves one seriously injured in Placer County

A vehicle crashed into a tree and caught fire near Wise Road and Lincoln Sheridan Boulevard, leaving one person seriously injured and rushed to the hospital.

LINCOLN, Calif. — A person was injured after a vehicle crashed into a tree and sparked a fire in Lincoln on Saturday, officials said. 

Fire crews responded to a report of a PG&E power pole on fire near Wise Road and Lincoln Sheridan Boulevard, according Cal Fire’s Nevada Yuba Placer office. 

While crews were on their way, they were advised by the Grass Valley Emergency Command Center that California Highway Patrol had received an Apple Watch crash detection alert in the same area. 

Crews arrived to find a single vehicle had major damage and was actively burning after colliding with a tree. One person was found lying 20 feet away from the vehicle. Officials said they had serious injuries and was possibly ejected from the vehicle. 

Emergency personnel began administering first aid. The vehicle fire was quickly knocked down. The person was taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center under emergency conditions.
