Upside is an app that gives you cash back on everyday purchases. With this app you earn cash back at thousands of gas stations, but also restaurants, and grocery stores across the U.S. You can see locations near you by downloading the app and checking out your local options, or by searching a city or town you’ll be traveling to.

Using the Upside Cash Back App

Here’s how this app works:

1. Open: Open the app when you need gas, convenience store items, groceries, or something to eat from a restaurant. 
2. Claim: Claim the best offer from a business near you.
3. Swipe: Pay for your purchase as usual, with your regular credit or debit card. 
4. Follow the in-app directions to either tap “I paid!” or upload your receipt.
5. Earn: Receive cash back on your transactions directly in the app. Cash out your earnings whenever you want via PayPal, e-gift card, or your bank account.

Make sure to claim your offer before you make your purchase, and complete your purchase within twenty minutes of claiming the offer. Don’t forget to get a receipt! You need to upload the receipt for some offers, but many locations on Upside do not require receipt upload. Pay with an approved payment method. Cash or gift cards are not eligible forms of payment with Upside.

Upside Credits

The cash back your earn with the Upside app does not expire. You can cash out your Upside balance to your bank account or Paypal. To redeem your cash or link your bank account, tap your balance amount in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Tap “Cash Out” and then select “Your Bank Account”, “PayPal” or any of the gift cards available.

There are some fees when you cash out small amounts:

• Bank: $1 for cash-outs that are less than $10
• Paypal: There is a $1 fee for a cash-out under $15.
• Gift card: $0, but please note certain cards may have certain minimum thresholds.

Upside Pay

Upside Pay is a new feature that instantly earns users cash back when they pay for their restaurant purchase on the Upside app via a newly purchased gift card. If you don’t see Upside Pay on your app yet, hang tight! Upside Pay will be released to users in stages, so you’ll have the opportunity to use this feature soon.

Here’s how it works:

1. Look for the Upside Pay badge & claim an offer.
2. Place your order at the restaurant or on the restaurant’s website
3. Once you’re ready to pay, enter the total including tax & tip.
4. Add your credit or debit card details and tap Pay. – Your payment is powered by Stripe.
   Tip: Check the ‘save my info’ box for faster checkout next time.
5. Show the server or cashier your digital gift card. They will scan the code or enter the gift card’s number and pin if you are ordering online.

As soon as you complete your gift card purchase, your cash back will be added to your Upside balance.
