UC Berkeley student injured in drowning at fraternity

(KRON) — A UC Berkeley student was hospitalized following a drowning incident at a recognized off-campus fraternity Friday.

The student remains in the hospital, the university told KRON4 News. Their condition is not known at this time.

“Our thoughts are with the student, their family, loved ones and friends during this time,” UC Berkeley said in a statement. “We are following our protocols to offer support to the student and their family. The safety and wellbeing of our students remains our top priority.”

The drowning is under investigation by the Berkeley Police Department. KRON4 will update this story when more information is available.

“We offer free and comprehensive psychological services to all students,” UC Berkeley said. “For any students in need, please contact Counseling and Psychological Services located at UHS. We encourage students to seek support should they need.”
