Discussion:

We’re in for an active week of weather as we kick off the month of June. Temps will climb back into the mid 80s today with the chance of a few afternoon storms. Severe threat will be limited due to lack of upper level forcing. As we slide into Tuesday instability will be increasing as temps warm into the upper 80s and moisture streams steadily into the region. An upper level disturbance will help trigger scattered afternoon and evening storms. The severe threat will be isolated with damaging wind, hail and heavy rain the biggest concerns. A cold front will approach the region Wednesday. This is likely where we will find the greatest severe threat of the week. If clouds clear enough Wednesday morning we will need to watch for strong to severe storms developing during the afternoon and evening. The cold front will help to energize these storms even after sunset and the loss of daytime heating. Severe threats include damaging wind, hail and heavy rain leading to localized flooding. The cold front will pass through the region Thursday, with temps remaining warm as highs remain in the upper 80s. We’ll get to dry out and cool down a smidge over the weekend with daytime highs back in the mid 80s and overnight lows falling back into the low 60s.
