CLEVELAND (WJW) – The Fox 8 I-Team has learned that two people have been charged in connection with what police said was making a false report of a baby being abandoned.
Police said Tierra Shelton and Jasmine Shelton are both facing charges of tampering with evidence and making or causing a false report of child abuse or neglect.
The two are due in court soon to face the charges.
The 3-month-old infant was brought into the Fifth District station on Sunday, July 13, 2025, and the two told officers the baby was abandoned in front of their home in the 900 block of Wayside Avenue.
Police have said previously EMS responded to the 5th District and transported the infant to the hospital. An initial medical evaluation determined the baby to be in good health, with no signs of injury or abuse.
The Cuyahoga County Division of Children and Family Services were notified. The child has since been released to family.
