A 63-year-old man from Orlando is dead after a fatal hit-and-run crash on Orange Blossom Trail early Saturday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

An unknown vehicle was traveling northbound on OBT, north of Rosamond Drive in the inside lane, FHP said. The Orlando man was walking in easterly direction and entered the northbound lanes of OBT.

The man, who wasn’t in a crosswalk, walked into the direct path of the unknown vehicle . As a result, the right side mirror of the vehicle struck the Orlando man, FHP said. The vehicle continued traveling northbound on OBT after the collision and the man was laying in the inside northbound lane.

Shortly after, a 2016 Toyota Camry that was also traveling north. The 76-year-old driver from Apopka noticed the Orlando man and attempted to swerve right, but the front left of the vehicle hit the man, FHP said.

The Orlando man was pronounced dead, FHP said. The driver from Apopka was not injured and remained on the scene.

Witnesses stated that the unknown vehicle was either a white or silver Chevy Silverado, but they couldn’t provide any further descriptions of the vehicle or the driver, FHP said.

This crash remains under investigation.
