Trio charged in alleged Loudoun County copper-wire theft ring

In Loudoun County, three suspects are facing charges in connection with an alleged copper wire theft ring accused of causing $3 million in losses.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. — Loudoun County Sheriff’s investigators say they’ve nabbed three people responsible for over $3 million in losses linked to a copper wire theft ring operating in the region.

Working with Maryland State Police as well as multiple federal agencies, investigators arrested Alexandru Constantin, 43; Cristinel Petrovici, 38; and Robert Ciucur, 29 — all of College Park, Maryland.

All three face charges including grand larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny.

The sheriff’s office says law enforcement has been investigating copper wire thefts at multiple locations in the area — primarily Loudoun County.

They believe the suspects may face additional charges after the 8-month-long investigation.
