Temperatures are heating up again after a cool and calm close to the workweek. Highs are topping out in the 70s across the Piedmont and Foothills this Saturday afternoon with abundant sunshine. Highs will climb well into the 80s around the Metro Sunday; the High Country will enjoy the lower 60s. The warmest air we’ve seen all year arrives for most on Monday as afternoon temperatures soar into the mid-to-upper 80s along I-85 and southward. A stray shower or two may roll through our area overnight Monday into Tuesday, but rain chances largely remain at bay over the next five days.
A weak cold front slides into the Carolinas on Wednesday, but temperatures only cool slightly as rainless clouds build in. The mid-to-upper 80s swell back into the Metro on Thursday; areas southeast may make a run at their first 90º day of the year. Another cold front arrives on Friday, bringing another isolated shower chance and much cooler air into next weekend.
