OAKLAND — No one was injured, but several cars were hit in a shooting Thursday afternoon on Highway 24 in Oakland, authorities said.
The incident happened around 3:45 p.m. in the eastbound lanes west of Old Tunnel Road, according to preliminary information released by the California Highway Patrol.
One victim reported their car was struck by gunfire from a passing vehicle, while two others discovered their cars had been hit after arriving at their respective homes, the CHP said.
Witnesses provided a description of the suspect vehicle, which continued driving eastbound, according to the CHP. Just before 4:10 p.m., the car crashed into the center divider of Interstate 680 near Olympic Boulevard in Walnut Creek and a suspect was taken into custody.
All lanes of eastbound Highway 24 at Highway 13 were closed around 4:30 p.m. and traffic was diverted onto southbound Highway 13. The roadway reopened around 7:15 p.m.
The CHP’s Golden Gate Division Investigations Unit is handling the investigation into the shooting.
