SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — Nearly 2,000 people, including the ABC7 Memory Makers, participated in the San Francisco Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Bayfront Park in Mission Bay on Saturday.
ABC7 is a proud media sponsor of the annual walk, and ABC7 News anchor Amanda del Castillo and reporter Zach Fuentes emceed the event.
More than 132,000 people are living with Alzheimer’s or some form of dementia in the Bay Area.
There is currently no cure.
More than $900,000 have been raised for research, support and care programs, as of Sunday afternoon.
The walk was free to participate in, but donations are encouraged.
The money allows the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support for families.
It also goes to research for prevention, treatments, and ultimately, a cure.
