CLEVELAND (WJW) — A long-awaited restaurant is finally opening in the former Clifton Martini & Wine Bar, which closed back in 2021.

La Ville Lumiere, described as a French brasserie spot, will be open to customers starting Sept. 23.

Chef Kevin O’Connell, of Cleveland Sandwich Co., visited New Day Cleveland recently to talk about his new venture. He partnered with Michael Goerlich, of Ginger Grey Hospitality.

“I skipped the sandwiches. I went into training, I didn’t make the Olympic team in Paris. So I thought the easiest thing after that would probably be open a French restaurant,” he joked.

The restaurant is located at 10427 Clifton Blvd., and customers should expect a new look inside.

“We turned it into a beautiful French brasserie,” said O’Connell.

He said the restaurant butchers all of its meat and fish in-house. They also hired a French pastry chef to make their bread and pastries.

“Really from the beginning of the meal to the end of the meal, the entire experience is kind of curated there,” he said.

According to the restaurant’s website, menu items will include fresh seafood towers, steak frites, French onion soup and salade nicoise. There is also an extensive wine list and curated cocktail program.

“At La Ville Lumière, we invite you to experience the flavors of Europe while basking in Cleveland’s own luminous legacy, where tradition and innovation come together in every dish,” the website says.

The restaurant’s reservation line is currently open. After the restaurant opens officially, it will be open from Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m., serving a full menu until midnight.
