CLEVELAND (WJW) — Seasonal jobs are opening up ahead of the holiday season.
Several big companies are hiring thousands of people.
AMAZON
Amazon has announced plans to hire 250,000 seasonal employees across the United States for the holidays, including 7,000 positions in Ohio and 3,000 in the Cleveland-Akron area.
The seasonal roles, which include full-time and part-time positions, are aimed at bolstering Amazon’s workforce during its busiest time of year.
The company highlights competitive pay and flexible schedules as key benefits of these positions, many of which can lead to full-time employment after the holiday season.
Starting this month, front-line workers will receive at least an additional $1.50 per hour, bringing their average base wage to over $22 per hour.

The initiative will recruit seasonal staff for DICK’S Sporting Goods, Public Lands, DICK’S House of Sport, and Going, Going, Gone! stores nationwide.
DICK’S calls its hiring extravaganza National Signing Day and says people will be hired until all positions are filled.
The company says it has competitive pay, optional DailyPay, and an associate discount up to 40%.
DICK’S was recognized on FORTUNE’S Best Place to Work in Retail list for the fourth consecutive year.
Additionally, all store locations and distribution centers will remain closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, allowing employees to celebrate the holiday with their families.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to apply online and then visit their local store or distribution center on National Signing Day, October 8 for interviews and to meet the team.
