THE TONY DANZA TAPDANCE EXTRAVAGANZA Begins Teasing Their Comeback Album – Metal Injection

While they’ve already made it clear that their long-awaited fifth studio album will finally arrive in 2026, reactivated mathcore outfit The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza have now offered fans a brief new tease of what’s to come via their social media.

During a recent podcast appearance, the band explained that physical distance between members has made the writing process more complicated, though progress is still being made. After returning earlier this year for their first live shows in more than a decade, the group are already beginning to fill out their 2026 live calendar, with the following dates currently booked:

2/27 Nashville, TN The Mil at Cannery Hall (feat. Destroy Destroy Destroy, Still Here, Delta Hate & Circuit Circuit)
5/2 Corpus Christi, TX House Of Rock (Crush The Coast)

One lingering question surrounding the reunion has been the status of guitarist Josh Travis. Though Travis appeared in promotional materials for the band’s recent reunion shows, he did not perform at either date. Adding to the confusion, Eric Berngruber stepped in on guitar for those performances.

Speaking on a newly released episode of The Totally Legitimate Business Podcast, Travis clarified that he remains involved with the band, but scheduling has made full participation difficult. In addition to his role in Emmure, Travis also works behind the scenes on the road with A Day To Remember, whose touring schedules are often planned far in advance.

Asked directly about his current status, Travis offered a self-aware response: “What is my current status? Well, I would say over the last two months, I guess I have learned that we have a new guitar player. This guitar player will basically be handling anything that I do, or have done, anytime I’m not there… I’ve also been hearing things like, maybe we just have three guitar players?

“I’ve been kind of waiting to see, like, am I gonna have to be a second drummer? I don’t know what’s going on yet. But one thing I do know is I don’t have to do vocals and I don’t have to play bass.”

He continued, explaining the balancing act between projects: “I will definitely be here. It’s just a little harder because I still play guitar in Emmure, and I also work for A Day To Remember. Their schedule is set out pretty far in advance… when Danza stuff started coming into it, it was kind of like, ‘I’m probably gonna go jump into a river or a lake or something.’”

Despite the joking tone, Travis emphasized that the band has worked around scheduling conflicts successfully, noting that Berngruber filled in for Danza while Chris Dombrowski (Sentinels) handled guitar duties for Emmure when needed.

As for the follow-up to 2012’s Danza IIII: The Alpha – The Omega, the band indicated that the creative door is wide open. While they aren’t far along collaboratively yet, they stressed that the process has been fun and unburdened by expectations.

Notably, the group revealed they haven’t revisited old unreleased material, instead focusing entirely on writing brand-new songs. One challenge remains the physical distance between members — particularly Travis, who lives out of state — but momentum appears to be building.

When asked about the possibility of a full-scale tour, the band largely ruled it out due to career commitments and family life, favoring festivals and special one-off shows instead. That said, when prompted about a dream tour, the band tossed out an unexpected mix of influences, ranging from Deftones, Nothingface, and Coal Chamber to Meshuggah, Vision Of Disorder, Candiria, and more.
