THE HALO EFFECT Unleash Cover Of W.A.S.P.’s “I Wanna Be Somebody”, Announce New EP We Are Shadows – Metal Injection

Swedish metal powerhouse The Halo Effect have dropped their latest single, a ferocious reinterpretation of W.A.S.P.‘s 1984 anthem “I Wanna Be Somebody”. The blistering track, handpicked by guitarist Jesper Strömblad, marks the band’s third cover and continues their exploration of the iconic sounds that shaped their roots.

Alongside the single, The Halo Effect have announced their brand-new EP, We Are Shadows, which arrives November 21 digitally and as a limited vinyl release. The five-track collection pulls together the band’s recent reimaginings of metal classics, delivering both reverence for their influences and the band’s unmistakable modern edge.

Jesper Strömblad reflected on the choice of song: “W.A.S.P.‘s aggressive sound and eccentric stage presence has always been fun. The shock of songs like ‘I Fuck Like a Beast’ and fun anthems like ‘I Wanna Be Somebody’ and ‘L.O.V.E. Machine’ are powerful and heavy. Extreme and dramatic, controversial and fun, W.A.S.P.‘s ‘I Wanna Be Somebody’, off their debut album, was my first introduction into the band.”
