The Freestyle+ Is Samsung’s Brighter AI Mini Projector – Trendy Gadget

Samsung Electronics is back with a new take on the “projector you can casually move around” concept: The Freestyle+. It keeps the familiar cylinder design, but leans harder into AI to make setup less fiddly and picture quality more consistent across weird real-world surfaces.

AI OptiScreen: the “stop babysitting the image” upgrade

The headline feature is AI OptiScreen, which bundles multiple auto-correction tools meant to reduce the usual projection headaches. Samsung says it can correct distortion even on uneven or non-flat surfaces via 3D Auto Keystone, while Real-time Focus continuously adjusts focus as the projector moves or rotates. There’s also Screen Fit (for compatible screen accessories) and Wall Calibration to reduce color and pattern interference from the wall itself.

Under the hood, these smarts tie into Samsung’s Vision AI Companion concept, including an enhanced Bixby experience and AI services from partners for more conversational control. In practice, that reads like Samsung aiming for “point it somewhere and it behaves” rather than “grab the remote and start tweaking.”

Brighter output and a design that encourages improvisation

Brightness gets a real bump: The Freestyle+ is rated at 430 ISO Lumens, which Samsung positions as nearly twice the previous generation. For a portable projector, that matters because most people are projecting in less-than-perfect lighting and then acting surprised when the image looks washed out.

The physical design stays very Freestyle: compact, cylindrical, and built to rotate. Samsung highlights a 180-degree rotating design for projecting onto walls, floors, or ceilings without extra mounts. Translation: it’s optimized for quick “move it, aim it, watch” sessions rather than permanent home-theater installs.

Streaming, gaming, and built-in audio without extra boxes

Instead of treating the projector as a dumb display, Samsung loads it with native content options, including Samsung TV Plus, certified OTT partners, and Samsung Gaming Hub. That should reduce the need to plug in a separate streaming stick or console for casual use, assuming your Wi-Fi behaves for once.

Audio is handled by a built-in 360-degree speaker tuned for fuller sound in a small chassis. If you want more punch, Q-Symphony support lets the projector sync with compatible Samsung soundbars for a more layered setup.

Who it’s for and what to watch before buying

The Freestyle+ makes the most sense for people who value flexibility: moving between rooms, projecting at odd angles, or setting up quick movie nights without a permanent screen. The AI tools are also a practical response to how people actually use projectors, which is usually “good enough, faster.”

Samsung Electronics says The Freestyle+ will be showcased at CES 2026 (Jan 6–9 in Las Vegas), with a phased global rollout planned for the first half of 2026. Pricing details were not shared in the announcement, so expect region-by-region info closer to availability.
