WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Big E, New England’s largest fair, concludes on Sunday, offering a final opportunity for visitors to enjoy its diverse array of food, music, and shopping.
The 17-day fair, which has been a staple in the region, wraps up with a day full of activities and attractions. Attendees can experience live performances, indulge in iconic fair foods, and explore various exhibits, including livestock shows.
“We’re coming back ’til the day I can’t be here no more, so this is like home here,” said James Staub, owner of ‘Deep Fried Taco’, a vendor at the fair.
Rebecca Schell, a livestock exhibitor, shared her experience of showcasing animals throughout the fair. “We show livestock here pretty much the whole time, from the beginning of September, we bring our dairy cows, then we move to beef cows, and now we’re showing livestock pigs,” she explained.
Makala Yarkin, a fairgoer from Palmer, shared her enthusiasm for the fair’s food offerings, mentioning her favorites like the fried taco and maple iced coffee. Shaunia Flowers, a volunteer, recommended indulging in sweet and fried treats, with her personal favorite being fried dough with extra cinnamon and powdered sugar.
As The Big E draws to a close, visitors reflect on the memorable experiences and look forward to next year’s event. The fair continues to be a beloved tradition, bringing together diverse attractions and a vibrant community atmosphere.
