The off-road light bar may fall off while the car is driving, the recall says.

WASHINGTON — More than 6,000 Tesla Cybertrucks are under recall due to a loose off-road light bar that could fall off while driving.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued the recall on Monday, Oct 27, for 6,197 Cybertrucks manufactured between Nov. 13, 2023, and Nov. 5, 2024. The light bar accessory could pose a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash. The off-road light is an accessory mounted to the top of Cybertrucks to increase visibility.

According to the notice, the wrong glue was used to install the light bar accessory to the windshield. The recall number is SB-25-90-001.

“The service-installed optional off-road light bar accessory may have been inadvertently attached to the windshield using the incorrect surface primer,” the recall notice said.

All Foundation Series Cyberbeast, a version of the Cybertruck with more features and upgrades, recieved the off-road light bar, according to the Tesla website. The light bars were only physically installed by Tesla, and owners had to connect them to their electrical systems on their own.

“The Tesla Lightbar for Cybertruck is designed only for off road use. Tesla by law cannot connect and configure the Lightbar electronics; as such, this procedure details only the mounting of the Lightbar assembly and the routing of the Lightbar electrical harness,” a note on the Cybertruck Service Manual says.

The notice also highlights that owners may hear a noise from inside the cabin due to the loose light accessory. Additionally, owners can spot a gap between the light bar and the windshield and the accessory can feel loose when touched.

Tesla said it had received 614 warranty claims and one field report related to the faulty light bar application. No injuries, collisions or deaths have been linked to the recall.

Cybertruck owners affected by the recall can have their light bars inspected and, if necessary, replaced with the required mechanical attachments installed at no charge.

Tesla owners affected by the recall will begin receiving letters in the mail about their options on Dec. 26, according to the recall report.

The recall comes just days after another Cybertruck recall involving its lights.

More than 63,000 Cybertrucks in the U.S. were recalled because their front lights were too bright, which may distract other drivers and increase the risk of a collision.  The recall includes certain Cybertrucks with model years 2024-2026. The vehicles were manufactured between Nov. 13, 2023, and Oct. 11, 2025, with operating software versions prior to 2025.38.3.

Earlier this month, federal regulators opened yet another investigation into Tesla’s self-driving feature after dozens of incidents in which the cars ran red lights or drove on the wrong side of the road, sometimes crashing into other vehicles and causing injuries.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
