PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A telescope cut through this week’s northern lights this as seen from the Pacific Northwest coast.

KOIN 6 viewer, Jim Preusse, captured these unique views of the Andromeda Galaxy and Pleiades star cluster from the Oregon Coast during this week’s power geomagnetic storm.

Clear and cold conditions made for some spectacular views across the Pacific Northwest. Preusse said these unique northern light views were captured by attaching his phone to his telescope to capture these two separate four-minute time-lapse videos.

You can share your photos and videos of this week’s northern lights with the KOIN 6 Weather Team by sharing them here.
