Tehama County supervisor agree to marijuana ordinance study session – Red Bluff Daily News – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

RED BLUFF — Tehama County is taking the first baby steps to possibly its marijuana ordinance with the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, agreeing to hold a study session to learn about it and the best ways to update it if needed.
According to Clerk of the Board Jennifer Vise, the earliest the supervisors could hold this meeting would be in October.
During their Tuesday meeting, the supervisors invited the Environmental Health Department to learn more about the ordinance. Under this law, a county resident is allowed a maximum of six permitted plants within an approved grow building. Outdoor cultivation is prohibited. Any grow must be 1000 feet away from schools, churches, playgrounds and bus stops.
Violations of the ordinance can be initiated by a resident’s complaint or discovery by law enforcement. Violators will have six days to self-abate before a code enforcement reinspections. A public hearing will occur if the violation is not fixed to the satisfaction of the law. Offenders are provided two additional days for self-abatement upon judgment of violation.
Supervisor Pati Nolen brought this idea before the board. She shared a story about her mother, who had dementia. After being given medical marijuana, she regained her appetite, calmed down and lived an extra year.
