Teen killed in Sacramento shooting early Sunday, police say

DIAZ. WE BEGIN WITH BREAKING NEWS OUT OF SACRAMENTO AT THIS HOUR RIGHT NOW, SACRAMENTO POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A SHOOTING THAT TURNED DEADLY. THIS IS HAPPENING ON BUCKMAN STREET IN SACRAMENTO. AND THAT’S WHERE WE FIND KCRA 3’S, ERIN HEFT AND ERIN, WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED? SO FAR? YEAH, LATISHA, THAT SCENE STILL VERY ACTIVE AS THE INVESTIGATION IS STILL VERY MUCH UNDERWAY. TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT’S BEHIND ME. YOU CAN SEE SACRAMENTO POLICE CARS IN THE FOREGROUND, AND THEN BEHIND THEM YOU CAN SEE BELONGINGS AND MARKERS IN THE STREET. SO IT WAS HERE JUST BEFORE ONE EARLY THIS MORNING THAT POLICE WERE CALLED ON REPORTS OF A SHOOTING. WHEN THEY GOT HERE, THEY FOUND A MAN WHO’D BEEN SHOT AT LEAST ONCE. POLICE AND FIRE WORKED TO SAVE THAT MAN’S LIFE. BUT HE DIED HERE AT THE SCENE. AND BECAUSE OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES, HOMICIDE DETECTIVES RESPONDED AND BEGAN THEIR INVESTIGATION. WORKING OVERNIGHT AND INTO THIS MORNING, PROCESSING THE SCENE, CANVASING THE AREA AND INTERVIEWING WITNESSES. THE SACRAMENTO CORONER’S OFFICE HAS SAID THEY WILL RELEASE THE NAME OF THE MAN WHO DIED AFTER THEY CONFIRM THAT ALL NEXT OF KIN HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED, BUT THIS IS WHAT’S REMAINING AT BUCKMAN STREET. An 18-year-old man died after being shot early Sunday in Sacramento, police said. Sacramento police said officers responded to the shooting before 1 a.m. on Buchman Street near Tourbrook Way in the Gateway West area near Natomas.Officers found the 18-year-old with at least one life-threatening gunshot wound and began performing lifesaving efforts. Fire personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. The circumstances of what led up to the shooting are under investigation.No arrest has been made and there is no information on a possible suspect. An 18-year-old man died after being shot early Sunday in Sacramento, police said.

Sacramento police said officers responded to the shooting before 1 a.m. on Buchman Street near Tourbrook Way in the Gateway West area near Natomas.

Officers found the 18-year-old with at least one life-threatening gunshot wound and began performing lifesaving efforts.
