Taylor Swift re-releases Opalite 7″ vinyl single

A week and a half ago, Taylor Swift released Opalite as a 7″ single for 48 hours. This morning she announced that the same vinyl single is back in her store for 10 hours only.

During the February 4 pre-order for the 7″ vinyl, the website stated that it would ship on February 9. But on February 9, Swifties in the United States who had ordered received a notification that shipment of their Opalite vinyl singles had been delayed until February 23. Of course shipping delays do happen so this seems totally normal, right? Except for the part where international customers have not only had their Opalite vinyls shipped but they have already received their orders and posted pics/videos of these records. So what’s the hold up with the American orders not being shipped yet?

Per Billboard rules, pre-orders for physical media do not count toward the charts until the items are actually shipped. So far, Taylor has done several pre-orders for Opalite but none of them have actually shipped yet, which means she is most likely stockpiling pre-orders so that she can ship them all at once and get Opalite to #1. As of today, she has released Opalite on physical media eight times (and none of these versions have been released as digital singles yet):

1. album version & instrumental version – CD (1/21 – 48 hours), 2/16 ship date
2. Life Is a Song acoustic version & acoustic instrumental version – CD (1/21 – 48 hours), 2/16 ship date
3. album version & Life Is a Song acoustic version – blue pearlescent 7 (2/4 – 48 hours), 2/9 ship date (rescheduled for 2/23)
