  • Zeenat Aman burst into tears during Satyam Shivam Sundaram song shoot with Shashi Kapoor

Zeenat Aman burst into tears during Satyam Shivam Sundaram song shoot with Shashi Kapoor

    [ad_1]

One of the greatest highlights of Zeenat Aman’s stellar career is the 1978 film, Satyam Shivam Sundaram. The film saw the actress star alongside Shashi Kapoor. The veteran actress has now opened up about her experience from the sets.

Zeenat Aman took to social media to share a throwback photo along with an interesting anecdote from the filming of Satyam Shivam Sundaram’s song Chanchal Sheetal Nirmal Komal. She revealed that the song’s narration left her apprehensive and she “burst into a flood of tears.”

    Check out the photo here:

Zeenat Aman wrote, “Giant mushrooms, pink clouds, billowing smoke, enormous flowers, sexy outfits, otherworldly props…this fantasy song sequence from Satyam Shivam Sundaram went the whole nine yards. I’d go as far as to call it something of a psychedelic trip!”

She continued, “My director Rajji was an aesthete to the core, and was known for working with some of the most beautiful performers from the south – the likes of Vyjayanthimala and Padmini. He also had a taste for classical dance, and had conceptualised this entire song with that in mind. But this was my first film under the RK banner, and I was not a classical dancer by any stretch of the imagination. When Rajji narrated the sequence to me, I burst into a flood of tears! I was convinced I would make a fool of myself and sink the entire film. Through hiccups and sobs I explained my predicament to him. Rajji laughed. ‘What will I do with you convent girls and your two left feet?’ he exclaimed.”

Zeenat Aman pens a note as she celebrates the 42 years of Laawaris

    [ad_1]

Zeenat Aman who is known for sharing anecdotes from her personal and professional life on social media, recently shared a throwback picture featuring Amitabh Bachchan from the shoot of the song Kab Ke Bichde Hue Hum Aaj from the 1981 film Laawaris.

Celebrating 42 years of Laawaris, Zeenat shared a pic where she is seen dressed in a purple jumpsuit with Amitabh Bachchan hugging her sporting a white coat paired with cream-coloured pants.

Sharing the picture, she wrote, “Laawaris was released 42 years ago on this day on 22nd May 1981. An old-school Masala blockbuster, it’s the story of a man born from an illicit relationship, and includes themes of love, betrayal, murder and reconciliation.”

Speaking about the photo, she continued, “This still is from the song kab ke bichhde hue hum aaj. I had been visiting a friend in London, and flew directly to Kashmir to make it in time for this shoot. Director Prakash Mehra had been keeping unwell, but his excellent team of assistants stepped up to the plate. We shot the song over two-three days in some of the most stunning locations I have ever been to. Jumpsuits were all the rage back then, and this purple set was just fabulous! (and the reason I chose this picture)”

“Amit ji and I have had such a long working relationship, and I think part of the reason that we made a good onscreen jodi is our shared work ethic. We were both punctilious and punctual, which anyone in the industry will agree is not quite as common amongst actors as they’d like. I only ever recall him being late to set once in all those years, and boy is that a story to tell,” she concluded.

Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman co-starred in a number of classic films, including Don, Dostana, The Great Gambler, and Pukar, to mention a few.

PIC: Zeenat Aman recalls how she bagged Hare Rama Hare Krishna; Calls Dev Anand her ‘starmaker’

    [ad_1]

Veteran actress Zeenat Aman recently made her debut on Instagram and since then she has been winning hearts on the Internet. The actress keeps sharing interesting anecdotes from her illustrious career with her fans. Not only netizens but even celebs are in awe of Zeenat’s priceless Instagram posts. On Tuesday, the legendary actress made headlines after she shared a heartwarming post on Dev Anand. She shared a black and white picture with him and wrote a long note recalling how she was cast in Hare Rama Hare Krishna.

Zeenat Aman remembers Dev Anand in a heartfelt post

In her long post, Zeenat Aman revealed that her family wanted to leave India but it was Dev Anand who ‘persuaded’ her and her family to stay. She went on to call the late actor her ‘starmaker’. Her post read, “When entering an industry like Bollywood, every actor hopes for a starmaker. Someone who sees the glimmer of potential and ambition that has perhaps only been visible to the self thus far. Very few are so lucky as to find this person, but I was. My starmaker was Dev saab. It was 1970, and I think O P Ralhan was feeling quite sorry for me. He had given me a bit part in Hulchul, it had made little impact, and I was already packing my bags to relocate to Malta with my mother and stepfather.”

She added, “Dev Saab and his Navketan team were casting for Hare Rama Hare Krishna at the time. In his largesse, O P Ralhan suggested that they meet me. I vividly remember what I wore that day. A fitted yellow top, a fawn-coloured skirt and glasses with yellow frames. My mother was at the meeting (remember, I was still in my teens). So she held forth, while I spoke when spoken to, and packed tobacco into my pipe. The meeting concluded, and a few days later the landline jangled. I was asked to come for a screen test, and that is how I came to be cast as Jasbir/Janice.”

The Satyam Shivam Sundaram actress revealed how Dev Anand convinced her family to stay in India yet again. He insisted they stay till the movie saw a release. She wrote, “Oh, but the saga doesn’t end here. My family was ready to depart the country, but Dev saab persuaded my mother and I to delay our travels. So instead we flew to Kathmandu, stayed at the famous Soaltee Hotel, and waited long days to be called to set to shoot! I was frothing at the bit by the time it was finally time for my scenes. The first of which was a bus sequence. It makes me laugh to watch it now because I know I’m practically spitting out my lines in my impatience to prove myself! In those days it took much longer to make a film from start to finish. Two or three years even. My mother and I once again prepared to leave Mumbai, and yet again Dev Saab persuaded us to stay. He promised to edit quickly and get the movie into the cinemas. Sure enough, the film released, it became a huge hit, and I became a star. My immigration plans were now indefinitely postponed, and Dev Saab started writing another script with me in mind…”

After she shared the post, she received a lot of reactions from celebs and netizens. Anurag Kashyap commented, “Love this story .. and thanks to dev saab for a lot of people he brought into this industry, and for you.” Tanuja Chandra wrote, “Legend – Dev sab. Such a pretty picture, filled with warmth.” Shreya Dhanwanthary wrote, “This is true. Everyone hopes someone else can see the glimmer that we can barely see ourselves.” Even the fans were all heart for her post.

Hare Rama Hare Krishna was released in 1971 and Zeenat played the role of a drug addict. Her song Dum Maaro Dum went on to become iconic.

    [ad_1]

It has only been a few days since Zeenat Aman made her Instagram debut and the legendary actress is already dropping truth bombs about the film industry. In her most recent post, she opened up about the gender pay gap.

Zeenat Aman shared an old video from her popular song Laila O Laila from the sets of Qurbani. She can be seen giving an interview. In her caption, she opened up about being the “highest paid female actress” but still taking home a smaller pay cheque than her male co-stars.
    Check it out here:

Reacting to the post, Shweta Bachchan wrote, “Perfectly said and kept her point.”

Zeenat Aman wrote, “It’s been nearly 50 years since this footage was shot, and the industry has changed immensely since. The roles available to women are clearly not just ornamental anymore. What hasn’t changed though is the gender pay gap. In my time I was lauded as the “highest-paid female actor.”

    Zeenat Aman

She added, “The Zeenat you see in this clip was quite certain that half a century would be enough time to even the scales. So it disappoints me that even today women in the film industry don’t have wage parity.”
