    A woman was found dead Tuesday in a Waterford irrigation pond, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.

    Deputies responded just after 3:30 p.m. to the pond on North Reinway Avenue, between Star and Kadota avenues.

    As of 4:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office said the woman has not yet been recovered and has not been identified.

    Deputies are investigating what led up to the woman’s death.

    New details are emerging about a woman whose body was found on the sands of Hollywood Beach the day after Christmas.

    Police say 56‑year‑old Heather Asendorf was discovered by a passerby. People who frequent the beach say she was a familiar sight at the bandshell near Margaritaville, where she danced most nights in brightly lit shoes.

    Harrison, a frequent visitor who did not want to give his last name, said he saw her nearly every day.

    “She was very friendly, polite. She loved to dance,” he said.

    Four days after she was found, Hollywood police arrested 28‑year‑old Brandon McCray and charged him with sexual battery, kidnapping and battery by strangulation.

    McCray was taken into custody at a Hollywood motel off Federal Highway. His permanent address is listed in Coconut Creek, where no one answered the door when approached for comments about his arrest.

    Tributes for Asendorf are pouring in, especially from the annual State College Townie Reunion community in central Pennsylvania, where she had deep roots.

    Among the messages shared:

    “I still can’t wrap my mind around this one. She was so amazing.”

    HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Houston police are investigating a woman’s death after she was found shot inside her parked car in the Sunnyside area after leaving home to go to the convenience store, officials said.

    Police said the 46-year-old woman notified her family that she was going to the convenience store to purchase snacks around 1 a.m. on Friday. The family told police that the woman was a night owl and was known to enjoy doing that, but she never returned home.

    The woman and her family reportedly lived near Beltway 8 and Highway 249 in the Willowbrook area, police said.

    Police said the family began to worry after the woman did not return home and began to track her phone. The woman’s phone pinged her exact location.

    HPD says the woman’s family made the gruesome discovery. The victim was found in the 4800 block of Briscoe and Calhoun in the front passenger seat with a gunshot wound.

    She was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, there is no description of a suspect.
