Winter dressing stresses me out. Don’t get me wrong — I love cold-weather fashion. Cozy sweaters, layers, and plush textures are infinitely more fun than anything I wear in the heat. But winter coats and all the bundling that comes with them tend to push me over the edge. Unless I’m trekking through actual snow (rare), putting on a full coat just to get in the car feels unnecessarily chaotic. Adding a scarf into the mix only amplifies the overstimulation. I adore how they look, but wearing one “just because” sends me into a level of heat-induced distress that genuinely feels like something to unpack in therapy.

So when I found the coat that finally solves all of it — and happens to double as a great holiday gift for cold-weather dwellers — I knew I had to share. Enter the Calvin Klein Short Puffer Jacket ($140, originally $349).The built-in scarf is what sold me, and I’m unpacking why ahead.

What I Like About the Calvin Klein Short Puffer Jacket With Scarf

I’ll be totally honest: I figured this jacket would be either a hit or a miss, and boy, was it the former. While I own other puffer coats that keep me warm, I’ve found that few of them are also stylish — and this one pulls it off like no other. It all comes down to the details. This puffer jacket has an adjustable drawstring hem that actually gives you shape instead of turning you into a living, breathing marshmallow. It also has a bomber-style collar that looks great on its own, but it’s even better with the scarf, IMO, because it adds warmth and style.

And no, I’m not done talking about the scarf. What I love about the built-in design is that it doesn’t need constant adjusting the way a separate scarf does, and it never feels heavy or claustrophobic. It’s so much more comfortable for me than a traditional coat-and-scarf combo and feels completely seamless; the two pieces live together rather than separately, which saves me time and frustration. I also appreciate that the price point is far more accessible than other built-in-scarf styles I’ve seen. Case in point: I’ve eyed the Totême Scarf Jacket for ages, fully aware it’s not in the cards for me right now. Conveniently, this one feels infinitely more practical for my blustery Midwest reality anyway. I don’t need to go aspirationally high-end just to take my dog outside in subzero temps.

What to Consider About the Calvin Klein Short Puffer Jacket With Scarf

I’ll be honest: I spent longer than I’d like to admit trying to find a real consideration before adding this jacket to your cart. What I landed on is that the jacket is water-resistant, not waterproof. It handled light snow during my photoshoot and will survive a quick drizzle, but it won’t keep you fully dry in steady rain or slushy weather. That might seem obvious, but not everyone catches it because marketing language can be confusing.

Here’s a quick waterproof vs. water-resistant 101: water-resistant fabric repels moisture on the surface, but it usually doesn’t include the construction details needed for true storm protection, like fully sealed seams. The brand doesn’t specify whether this jacket has sealed seams, so it’s safest to assume it doesn’t since it’s labeled as water-resistant. Luckily, you’d need to be outside for a while for that to actually matter, and this probably isn’t the coat you’d rely on when the weather gets dramatic anyway.

Who the Calvin Klein Short Puffer Jacket With Scarf Is Best For

This jacket is the perfect investment (or gift!) for anyone who likes their winter staples to feel elevated but still firmly grounded in practicality. If staying warm matters just as much as looking pulled together, this puffer hits that sweet spot without overcomplicating your routine.

    Additional Details

  • Princess Kate and the enduring charm of the tweed blazer: Why every woman needs a herringbone jacket in her wardrobe

There are few women in the world who can influence a wardrobe quite like the Princess of Wales. She just has a knack for turning polished classics into must-have staples. Her recent secret weapon? The tweed blazer – more specifically, the herringbone jacket. Season after season, Catherine proves that this heritage piece is not just for the hunting fields of the English countryside, but for school runs, charity visits, and even the red carpet-adjacent engagements that make up royal life.

So why does the Duchess return time and again to this quintessentially British tweed jacket? And more importantly, why should you consider adding one to your own collection?

The 43-year-old royal has been photographed in an array of blazers, but her tweed and herringbone choices always stand out. Think of her in Smythe’s iconic one-button jacket, in earthy tweeds by Alexander McQueen, or her beloved Holland Cooper double-breasted blazer in a sharply tailored herringbone. Each look is grounded in practicality yet elevated with that regal polish she nails every single time.

On a recent trip to the Natural History Museum the Princess of Wales opted for the Ralph Lauren herringbone wool blazer

Part of the appeal lies in tweed’s history. Woven in Scotland and synonymous with country estates, equestrian weekends, and windswept moors, tweed is basically as British as afternoon tea. And if you love the Traitors, you’ll be reminded of its appeal with Claudia Winkleman who looked seriously chic with her Traitors-core look throughout filming.

    The enduring appeal of herringbone

Let’s pause for a quick fabric lesson, shall we? Tweed is the broader category: a rough, woollen cloth traditionally woven in patterns like check, houndstooth, and herringbone. herringbone, with its distinctive V-shaped weave, is the most refined of the bunch. It’s structured, slimming, and quietly elegant – the kind of pattern that doesn’t scream for attention but always looks considered.

Back in 2021, the Princess of Wales embarked on a boat trip in Lake Windermere wearing a herringbone blazer with black skinny jeans and boots

Why Princess Kate loves tweed jackets (and you will too)

Kate is a busy working royal, juggling engagements that take her from sports grounds to palace receptions. She needs clothes that bridge the gap between comfort and sophistication.

I reached out to royal fashion expert Samantha, the woman who’s responsible for the hugely popular Instagram account @royalfashiondaily. If anyone can add some expert knowledge on to this subject, it’s Sam! She said: “Kate loves her tweed herringbone jackets and blazers because they feel timeless and grounded. They gives her that easy, girl-next-door vibe while still nodding to classic British countryside style – a look that makes royalty feel warm, approachable, and relatable.”

What’s more, let’s face it, a tweed blazer is warm enough for chilly British weather, and it’s tailored enough to hold its shape in front of cameras.

    Where to shop the look

If you’re looking to invest, heritage brands like Holland Cooper, Smythe, and Burberry offer exquisite tailoring with timeless appeal. For more accessible options, high-street retailers like Zara, Mango, and Jigsaw frequently carry excellent herringbone-inspired blazers. The beauty of this piece is that it doesn’t have to cost the earth to look regal.

I’ve shopped some of my favourite below…

Styling advice: How to wear your herringbone jacket like a royal

Throw on a herringbone blazer and suddenly jeans and a T-shirt look intentional. Pair it with a silk blouse and pencil skirt and you’re boardroom ready. Over a knit dress, it adds structure without sacrificing softness. It’s the ultimate wardrobe transformer.

Writer Leanne Bayley wearing an & Other Stories blazer© Leanne Bayley
This & Other Stories blazer came straight home with me

Keep it Neutral, Keep it Chic

Catherine tends to favour earthy palettes – greys, browns, navy – because they go with everything. Invest in a neutral herringbone blazer first, then branch out into statement colours if you fall in love.

    Pair with Slim Silhouettes

Tweed is a heavier fabric, so balance is key. Kate often teams her blazers with slim trousers, skinny jeans, or a streamlined midi skirt. This avoids looking bulky and highlights the tailoring.

    Add a Touch of Femininity

To soften the traditionally masculine cut of a blazer, Kate often pairs hers with a silk blouse, delicate jewellery, or even a floral dress. It’s this interplay of structure and softness that makes her looks feel so wearable.

    Belt It

Now this is one of the royal’s signature styling tricks. Cinching the waist not only flatters the figure but adds a modern twist to a heritage fabric. If your blazer is longline, try a leather belt over the top – it’s a subtle but effective way to elevate your look.

    Boots are your best friend

Whether she’s wearing suede knee-highs or chic ankle boots, Kate knows footwear matters. Tweed naturally complements leather, so your herringbone blazer will always feel at home with classic boots.

    Don’t be afraid of denim

One of the reasons tweed has shaken off its “country only” reputation is its pairing with denim. A herringbone blazer worn over a white tee and skinny jeans is no doubt Princess Kate’s off-duty uniform – and it works just as well for a Saturday coffee run as it does for the school gates.

    Investment piece or trend?

While fashion is often fleeting, the herringbone jacket is a piece you’ll wear for decades. Buy well, and it will outlast trends, moving with you from one life stage to another. Princess Kate’s wardrobe choices highlight this point beautifully: her tweed blazers from a decade ago still look as fresh today as when she first wore them.

Think of it as part of the “royal effect.” Royals don’t dress for a single season – they dress with the future in mind. That’s exactly why Catherine’s tweed jackets have aged so gracefully, and why yours will too.

The Perfect All-Weather Jacket Exists, and I Found It on Amazon

Before my recent trip to Iceland, I had to complete one very important task: find a warm jacket comfortable enough for braving the country’s often-freezing temperatures. I knew I’d be spending a decent amount of time outdoors in the thick of Reykavik’s otherworldly (and notoriously unpredictable) climate, which meant that I’d require an all-weather coat that could handle the unexpected: heavy water exposure underneath waterfalls, wind spells along the country’s black sand beaches, and even late-night temperature drops while chasing the Northern Lights.

After searching through countless reviews online and sourcing recommendations from friends, I landed (unsurprisingly) on Orolay as the coat brand to entrust with my purchase. The label is known for creating some of the warmest and most durable outerwear on the market, with its famous Thickened Down Jacket amassing over 28,000 ratings on Amazon alone. I decided to try out that style’s longer counterpart, the Orolay Thickened Long Down Jacket ($105, originally $150), and can honestly say that in all my years of shopping, I’ve never found a warmer coat — which is a real testimony, considering I’m known to don multiple layers the moment it drops below 60 degrees.

    Main ImageMain Image

From its packable design (perfect for stuffing into personal carry-ons) to its dopamine-inducing color, I break down what makes this Amazon coat such a worthwhile investment — whether you’re wearing it near the Arctic Circle or just in your own backyard. Keep reading for my full Orolay jacket review.

What I Like About This Orolay Coat

These days, I’m focused more on limiting unnecessary splurges and investing in multifunctional pieces that can work for a variety of occasions and weather conditions. This Orolay jacket ticks all of my boxes and then some; it’s crafted from a polyester material that’s windproof and waterproof, with an extra-large, adjustable hood that helps to keep my face protected in harsher temperatures.

The thickened jacket is filled with 90 percent duck down and 10 percent duck feather, with an insulated design that — per Orolay’s website — is suitable for temperatures as low as negative 10 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperatures on my Iceland trip ranged from 25 degrees Fahrenheit to about 45 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on the time of day, and I hardly noticed any temp changes or intense winds because of the comfortability provided by this coat.

It’s also fitted with unique design flourishes that make it incredibly practical for all-day wear. The coat is completely packable, so it’s easy to fold down and squeeze into suitcases or duffel bags without taking up a ton of extra space — despite its thickened down design. The side zipper pockets are remarkably deep and lined with a plush material for extra warmth. I was able to fit everything from a small travel water bottle to a packable umbrella into the pockets, often removing the need for a purse entirely. I also appreciate the style’s two-way zipper and button accents, which made it easy to take the jacket on and off whenever going indoors to my hotel or a restaurant.

As a fashion girlie through and through, I’m also obsessed with the sunny yellow color of this jacket. The shade is a bit outside of my comfort zone, considering I usually lean heavy into neutrals and more understated tones. But winter can be notoriously gloomy, which is why I decided to opt for something brighter and more mood-boosting. Even if the pastel yellow shade isn’t your taste, the waterproof coat is also available in three other colors, including black and white colorways (which I plan to purchase, too).

    What’s Worth Noting

My one and only qualm with this long jacket is its pockets, which — despite being deep and offering plenty of carrying space — are situated slightly higher on the coat than other styles, thus creating a somewhat awkward fit when it comes to hand placement. This can be attributed to the depth of the pockets; because they boast a deeper interior that extends farther down, it makes sense to have them situated above the hips as opposed to being front and center on the waistline. I think the pockets are designed more for functionality and are great for holding larger items in a protected (read: zippered) space, especially with products like a smartphone, passport holder, tissues, or even a packable umbrella. But if you’re looking for an option that you can comfortably place your hands into whenever they need respite from outside temperatures, I’d recommend shopping for another winter coat.

Who Is This Orolay Coat Best For?

If you’re looking for a practical, stylish, and long-lasting jacket that you can trust will be a wardrobe staple for years to come, you can’t go wrong with this Orolay jacket. It’s designed with all types of travelers and environments in mind, with a fit that’s flattering for all body types. I love that it combines the benefits of a windbreaker, rain coat, and winter jacket all into one multifunctional style, while still boasting a relatively accessible price tag.

    Additional Details:

    • This Orolay down jacket is available to shop in US women’s sizes XS-XXL.
    • It comes in four unique colorways including red, spectra yellow (my shade of choice), white, and pirate black.
    • The winter coat is made from a waterproof polyester material with a fill of 90 percent duck down and 10 percent duck feather.

Confirmed: This Free People Jacket Is the Perfect All-Seasons Style

While each product featured is independently selected by our editors, we may include paid promotion. If you buy something through our links, we may earn commission. Read more about our Product Review Guidelines here.

In my world, some things are inevitable come fall: cooler temperatures, pumpkin spice products consuming my local Trader Joe’s, my mom playing Christmas music in her car as early as September, and — perhaps most predictable of all — me buying a new Free People jacket that I’ll wear through the new year.

While some people might kickstart their autumnal festivities with an apple-picking excursion, my fall doesn’t really begin until I’ve added a cozy, new Free People style to my closet. Last year’s elected favorite was none other than the Pippa Packable Puffer Jacket — which is still my go-to travel jacket. My style of choice this season, however, is the Free People Chloe Jacket ($198).

    Main Image

I’m far from the first person to fall in love with the comfy jacket; not only has it been bubbling up on TikTok, but the topper is also regarded as one of Free People’s bestselling styles. With its flattering fit, quilted composition, and wide array of pattern options, it’s not hard to see why this statement piece has garnered so much attention — along with a permanent spot in my wardrobe. Ahead, I break down what makes this Free People jacket one of fall 2024’s best coats.

What I Like About Free People’s Chloe Jacket

First and foremost, I love just how endlessly comfortable this jacket is. It’s made from a lightweight cotton and rayon material, with a polyester filling that’s plush and squishy; it’s like getting all the benefits of a cozy down jacket rolled into the structure of a chunky cardigan. The material isn’t so heavy that I feel overwhelmed or constricted, but it’s also just thick enough to where I can comfortably wear it in lower winter temperatures.

This jacket’s styling versatility is also endless — whether I want to layer it with a basic T-shirt or team it with a bulky sweater, the product’s oversize fit makes it functional enough to work with so many different clothing types. And I appreciate that despite having a steeper price tag, I feel like I’m getting the most for my money with this Free People jacket. I’ve been wearing it nonstop already this fall (even in 70-degree temperatures) and I know that I’ll have no issue wearing it throughout the colder winter months, too. With its floral design, I could probably even get away with donning it throughout the spring season!

Its lightweight build is so unique, I honestly forget that I’m often wearing a jacket at all. Plus, the style’s packable design makes it a great option for travel. Whether I’m embarking on a road trip or jet setting to another country, it’s a style that doesn’t take up too much packing space in my carry-on suitcase.

    What’s Worth Noting

Unlike traditional zippered or button-down jackets, this style is fitted with hook closure accents, which keep both sides of the jacket pulled together for a more closed-in look. On occasion, the hooks will unlatch and I’ll have to reattach them; overall, I find myself fidgeting with this jacket more as opposed to standard zippered styles. Additionally, because of its dolman silhouette, the layer also has a boxier design. The looser fit gives the jacket a lived-in feel that I enjoy, but other reviewers noted it was a bit too oversize for their preferences. I recommend referencing Free People’s style guide to source your perfect size, and consider sizing down if you’re concerned about it being too large on you.

Who Is Free People’s Chloe Jacket Best For?

If you’re in the market for a style that you can comfortably wear through even the most confusing transitional weather — from chilled mornings to warm afternoons and cold nights — this Free People jacket will be your new go-to. It’s breathable enough that you won’t feel bogged down by heavy material, but its quilted design also ensures ample warmth and insulation in lower temperatures. With a wide variety of pattern and color options, you won’t have any trouble finding your dream style — or even stocking up on the jacket in multiple variations (because the more, the merrier!).

    Additional Details

    • The jacket is available in US women’s sizes XS through XL.
    • It comes in 12 different pattern and color options, including a checkered black and white style, striped red and brown variation, and a floral maroon combo (my print of choice).
    • This jacket is crafted from a quilted fabrication that’s plush and surprisingly warm, with an insulated design that’ll help users stay warm in brisk seasonal temperatures.

11 Football Outfits to Inspire Your Game Day Attire This Season

While each product featured is independently selected by our editors, we may include paid promotion. If you buy something through our links, we may earn commission. Read more about our Product Review Guidelines here.

At long last, fall has finally made its return — bringing with it cooler temperatures, pumpkin spice beverages, and a brand-new season of thrilling football action.

ICYMI: the 2024-2025 NFL season is set to kick off on Thursday, Sept. 5 when the reigning Super Bowl Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, face off against the Baltimore Ravens. Whether you’re a longtime football fan or a new viewer brought to the game by way of a certain blonde pop star, now’s the perfect time to get your game day wardrobe prepped for the upcoming season — that way you can cheer on your favorite team (or player) in style.

Unlike NBA and WNBA games, figuring out what to wear to a football game can be a complicated task. Since many NFL stadiums have open roofs, you’ll need to take the weather into account; if you’re attending in the fall, the right transitional outfit will ensure you don’t get too warm or too cold, whereas winter games will call for heavier layers and insulated clothes (especially if there’s snow in the forecast).

While football outfits tend to center around team gear or NFL merchandise, there are plenty of ways to style your game day outfit so that it’s on theme and still versatile enough for day-to-night wear. Luckily for us (and our wardrobes), celebrities like Taylor Swift, Simone Biles, and Olivia Culpo provide plenty of inspiration for football game outfit ideas, along with other stylish WAGs (wives and girlfriends) — like Kristen Juszczyk or Brittany Mahomes.

From pairing a cozy crewneck with Halara’s famous Taylor Swift skirt for a high school-inspired look to teaming a varsity jacket with faux-leather leggings for an ensemble that can take you from game day to date night, we’ve curated a guide to the best football game outfits for women.

Our favorite selects include a logo baby tee from Abercrombie’s NFL collection, cozy joggers, and a themed bracelet set from BaubleBar. Keep reading to shop our full guide.

Does Uniqlo Heattech Really Keep You Warm? An Editor Investigates

Every editorial product is independently selected by our editors. If you buy something through our links, we may earn commission.

I live in a perpetual state of being cold. Whether it’s 70 degrees or below 17, you’re bound to find me wrapped up in a blanket at home or venturing out with a jacket in tow. Growing up in Arizona hasn’t exactly prepared me for how to navigate cooler temperatures, which is why I often rely on heavy layering during the winter months to keep myself feeling warm. In the past, this has translated into me dressing like Ralphie’s younger brother from “A Christmas Story” — think chunky snowsuits, a double-wrapped wool scarf, and so many layers I’m hardly able to breathe (let alone move around). It wasn’t until I was introduced to Uniqlo Heattech gear that I realized lightweight, movable thermals exist.

Uniqlo’s Heattech line is arguably one of the brand’s most popular collections. Loved by shoppers for its wide variety of styles, the capsule boasts warm, insulated pieces that are designed to replicate the effectiveness of a thermal layer without the bulky design. Besides being lightweight, the thermals are also stretchy and body-contouring, meaning they’ll actually mold to the shape of your body to ensure a more flattering fit. The winter gear has proven to be a lifesaver for me this year — I sported the Uniqlo Heattech Leggings ($20) during New York Fashion Week earlier this month and I love the Uniqlo Heattech Socks ($8) and Uniqlo Heattech Cotton Crew Neck Long Sleeve ($25) so much, I’ve practically been living in the pieces 24/7.

    Main Image
    Main ImageMain Image
    Main ImageMain Image

Ahead, I break down everything to know about Uniqlo Heatteach thermals and what makes them such a staple among shoppers, editors, and celebrities. From their unique insulated design and remarkably lightweight fit, here’s what to know.

    How Does Uniqlo Heattech Work?

Unlike other thermal styles, Uniqlo’s Heattech line is made from different materials like polyester blends, acrylic, and rayon, all of which are designed to lock in heat for a warmer and more insulated feel.

What I Like About Uniqlo Heattech Styles

Despite their extra-warm design, I appreciate that these styles are surprisingly breathable and stretchy. The leggings mold perfectly to my body and are thin enough that I can style them underneath other cold-weather bottoms like pants or joggers. The long-sleeve T-shirt boasts a similar design, with an almost compressive-like fit that hugs my upper body without feeling too constricting. It’s definitely thicker compared to the leggings, but still thin enough that I’ve been able to wear it underneath chunky sweaters and other winter tops.

The socks are, hands down, my favorite piece of Uniqlo Heattech gear. They’re soft to the touch and plush enough to keep my feet feeling toasty. They also feature a textured ribbed design along the sides that looks super elevated. From boots to sneakers and even slippers, these thermal socks are designed to work with any type of shoe, and I even enjoy just wearing them alone casually around my apartment.

I also appreciate the affordability of the entire collection. In my experience, quality thermal pieces can get pretty costly if you’re shopping from top outerwear brands, but most of the items in Uniqlo’s Heattech collection cost less than $40. I’ve been able to stock up on several items in different colorways as a result, which has been great for expanding my cold-weather wardrobe.

    What’s Worth Noting

For me, the Uniqlo Heattech leggings and long-sleeve T-shirt work great solely as thermal layers and not much else. The leggings in particular are incredibly thin, and I’ve noticed that they’re even see-through in certain lights. Reviewers on Uniqlo’s site express similar sentiments, with one shopper writing: “Fit and feel were nice, but these were waaaaay too sheer. Yikes! I could never wear these confidently, even if my top covered my butt!” While the cotton tee isn’t necessarily sheer, it can look awkward (even clunky) while on. All this to say, I love these items as base layers for cold-weather outfits but wouldn’t necessarily recommend them as individual pieces to wear without styling something else on top of them.

Who Is Uniqlo Heattech Best For?

If you tend to run cold and rely on extra layers to stay comfortable, then Uniqlo Heattech gear is a worthwhile buy. There are a handful of different pieces to choose from, so you can find the best style for your wardrobe and comfort needs.

    Additional Details:

    • Uniqlo’s Heattech line comes in sizes XS to XXL.
    • Shoppers can browse a wide range of styles, including everything from crewnecks and turtlenecks to knit tights, socks, scarves, and gloves.
    • Most pieces are available to shop in several different colorways, including staple neutral shades like white, black, gray, and beige.

    Where Is Uniqlo Heattech Available?

These thermal pieces are available to shop exclusively at Uniqlo.

  • Your Valentine’s Day Underwear Can Affect Your Romantic Luck in 2024

Your Valentine’s Day Underwear Can Affect Your Romantic Luck in 2024

Every editorial product is independently selected by our editors. If you buy something through our links, we may earn commission.

While some call it superstition, the color of your underwear on Valentine’s Day can at least usher in the type of romantic luck you hope to cultivate in the year ahead. Renowned fashion psychologist Dr. Dawnn Karen, Professor at FIT, conducted a study on the power of red, surveying 115 people who were viewed differently based on their backgrounds and where on their body (or in their outfit) they wore the shade. While Dr. Karen didn’t incorporate underwear specifically, she found the effect of red to be astounding, significantly impacting how passersby interpret someone’s levels of promiscuity and attractiveness.

When asked about applying her findings to popular Valentine’s Day lingerie colors — including red, pink, black, and white — Dr. Karen calls it a twofold street. “Wearing your underwear as an individual can have the same effects generating self-love as it can generating outwards love towards another,” she tells POPSUGAR. Since choosing your bra, briefs, or bodysuit is a personal decision, we asked Dr. Karen to weigh in on the meaning behind all four hues so you can determine your mindset while selecting your underthings on Feb. 14, whether you wish to send a message to yourself or to a partner.

To put it simply, red is the most stimulating and seductive choice, pink is a reflection of kindness, black errs on the side of mystery, and white symbolizes purity in your relationships. But Dr. Karen breaks it down even further, unpacking the rationale behind carefully curating your intimates for the hallmark holiday. Ahead, we’ve applied her outlook to a shopping roundup of lingerie sets, arranged by color. Whether you’re seeking a sporty boy short and bralette combination, a delicate lace teddy, a strappy garter and tights, or a whimsical, floor-length nightgown, there’s sure to be a silhouette that speaks to both your intention and plans this Valentine’s Day.

Winter Accessories for College Girls: How to Stay Warm & Cozy on Campus

This post will show you the best winter accessories for college girls under $90.

    Winter Accessories for College Girls

So long, Hot Girl Summer. Warm Girl Winter is here!

The winter season has arrived, and with it, the cold weather… which isn’t so enjoyable when you have to walk across campus to get to class or your dorm on a daily basis.

That’s why I’ve rounded up over 20 of the best winter accessories for 2024 so that you can stay warm while still looking fashionable this season. Best of all, everything on this list is under $90, so you won’t have to break the bank, either!

Winter accessories are a great way to add trend appeal to your cold-weather outfits while also helping you stay that much warmer. And while it can feel challenging to show off your fashion sense when you’re bundling up for the cold, these on-trend winter accessories will assist you in doing just that.

So, get ready to take on the winter in style with these affordable, cozy, and functional cold-weather accessories that will keep you warm, dry, and looking cute all season long.

    Winter Accessories for College Girls

    Water-Resistant Backpack

If you are a student, a water-resistant backpack will be your best friend when you inevitably encounter rain, sleet, or snow when heading to class.

Considering you’re carrying important items — like a laptop, iPad, books, papers, etc. — that will be damaged if they get wet, a water-resistant backpack is the best way to keep your things protected (along with an umbrella, of course).

You can’t go wrong with this durable, stylish Fjällräven Kånken water-resistant backpack, which is a classic pick and comes in a bunch of different colors.

    Scarves

A printed knit scarf is a winter accessory that looks as stylish as it is functional. Of course, it will help you retain heat and keep you feeling toasty, but, as we mentioned in our post on how to wear a winter scarf, it can also upgrade your winter outfits.

When you’re all bundled up and wearing a big coat every day during the wintertime, it can feel near impossible to show off your sense of style. But by wearing a cute scarf, like with a houndstooth or plaid print, you’ll be able to add an eye-catching, fashionable element to your cold weather looks.

    Blanket Scarf

A blanket scarf is basically an even bigger, wider (and therefore, warmer) version of a regular scarf, making it a key cold-weather accessory.

Pick one with a plaid print featuring bold colors for a stylish look that will add character and trend appeal to your winter outfits.

    Chunky Oversized Scarf

Take it up a notch with an even bigger, chunkier scarf. This “extra chunky, extra big” scarf is sure to keep you from being cold, thanks to its oversized silhouette and fuzzy fabric. Its long tassels also add a playful touch.

    Hooded Scarf

One of the most ingenious winter accessories (IMO) is the hooded scarf. It’s exactly what it sounds like — a scarf with a hood. This one is made with a soft, fleece material and has an extra-wide design to keep you extra warm.

I’m especially into this red hue, which happens to be the hottest color of the season, but it’s available in three other shades, as well.

    Beanie Hats

IDK about you, but I live in beanie hats once the temperatures outside start dropping! They are so cozy yet look so cool. They are also amazing for covering up a bad hair day and/or if you are behind on your hair-washing schedule (IYKYK).

Obviously, there are a ton of beanie hats to choose from, but if you’re just starting your beanie hat collection (because, trust me, you can’t ever have enough), I’d suggest opting for a classic ribbed knit beanie in a neutral color to match the majority of your wardrobe. After that, venture into bright colors, fun prints, or cool graphics.

    Pom Pom Hat

Another fun beanie hat option? One with a pom pom! These can either be knit poms (like the one above) or poms made with faux fur. Both are equally cute and wintery! I also adore this hat’s cable knit design.

    Beret Hat

Channel your inner French girl with a beret hat. This hat gives off classic French girl style — and fun fact, berets did originate in France… back in the 1800s!

A beret will elevate your winter outfits and make you look polished, especially when paired with a long structured coat and some chunky boots.

    Sherpa Baseball Hat

If you love wearing baseball hats, this pick is for you. Regular baseball hats don’t quite cut it in the cold, so upgrade yours with one that has a fuzzy sherpa fabrication. It will retain more heat than a cotton or nylon cap and looks adorably teddy-inspired.

    Gloves

We tend to underestimate how brutal the cold can be for our hands… having frozen fingers is not fun! (And makes it difficult to text or do anything on a touchscreen phone).

That’s why everyone could use a pair of gloves during the winter, especially a pair with texting capabilities. These touchscreen-friendly knit gloves will allow you to use your phone or other touchscreen items on campus while keeping your hands warm and providing an anti-slip grip. They also come in a TON of different colors and patterns, giving you plenty of options to pick from.

    Mittens

If you aren’t concerned about using a touchscreen while out in the cold, go for some plush, fleece-lined mittens. Your hands will stay warm and toasty in mittens, especially these, which have a soft fleece lining and feature a hint of cashmere in their knit material.

    Ear Muffs

What’s cuter than some faux fur earmuffs?! This adorable cold-weather accessory is a perfect way to keep your ears warm while also showing off your sense of style.

Another bonus? Earmuffs are less likely to mess up your hairstyle the way beanie hats can, so consider wearing these (rather than a hat) on days that you have a hairstyle you want to preserve.

    Knit Headband

Similar to earmuffs but with a slightly sportier vibe, a knit headband is another great way to keep your ears warm in the cold.

Whether you wear it to class or on a winter Hot Girl Walk, it will help keep your hair out of your face and it also gives you the ability to wear your hair up (which you can’t do with a hat!).

    Warm-Lined Leggings

Every college girl needs some basic black leggings in her wardrobe, but if you go to college anywhere that experiences cold winters, you *also* need some warm-lined leggings. Trust me, these are a game-changer!

These thermal leggings are lined with fleece to keep you extra warm and can be worn on their own with an oversized sweater or sweatshirt or layered underneath looser pants for added warmth when it’s very cold outside. Base layers are crucial if you are heading out in winter weather, and fleece-lined leggings are a great place to start.

    Tights

If you don’t want to give up skirts and dresses during the winter, tights are going to be a must-have for you. Take it a step further with some thermal tights, which are made specifically for cold weather.

These solid color knitted Heattech tights offer heat retention and heat absorption, and even have deodorizing and odor control features. Best of all, they won’t make you look bulky thanks to their thinly knit design, and feature a high-rise design that will keep your midsection warm, too.

    Sherpa Bucket Hat

One of my favorite cold weather trends this season is sherpa bucket hats. These have such a fashion-forward vibe and will transform any outfit — even a laid-back sweat set — into a cool, street-style look.

This faux leather and sherpa bucket hat is an especially great find, as it is reversible, giving you two different looks with one hat.

    Faux Fur Hat

Calling all faux fur lovers! Faux fur hats are another major trend for the season, and there’s no denying that these make you look luxe.

This faux fur large bucket hat is made with ultra-plush faux fur for a standout look. The fluffy material will also keep you extra warm and snug.

    Detached Hood

A hood can make a huge difference in staying warm while outside in the cold, but of course, not every jacket has one. With a detachable hood, this is no longer an issue!

Turn any coat or jacket into a hooded one with this detachable nylon hood that is lightweight but will keep you that much warmer. This will also come in clutch if it starts raining or snowing while you’re out and about on campus.

    Snood

A scarf and a hood combined? Sign us up!

A snood is the best of both worlds and a great option you can throw in your school bag and pull out whenever you need it (e.g. when walking to your next class across campus).

The chunky knit material of this snood will help you keep warm and also looks adorable.

    Hoodie Balaclava

If you’re not into nylon or knits, try this hoodie balaclava instead. This detached hood will give you the feeling of your favorite cozy hoodie minus the bulk.

It is fleece-lined, has an adjustable drawstring opening, and comes in six different shades, so you’re sure to find a favorite.

    Layering Sweater Vest

Designed especially for layering, this cropped layering sweater vest is a stylish way to add warmth to your winter outfits.

With a cropped, loose-fitting design, boxy fit, and distressed look, this soft knit vest is easy to wear over long-sleeve tops, turtlenecks, and even other sweaters (so long as they aren’t super chunky).

    Hand Warmers

Hand warmers are one of the most forgotten-about winter accessories, which is why I am here to remind you what a huge difference these can make when you’re out in the cold!

While you can also get rechargeable hand warmers, I tend to forget to recharge them, so I recommend the classic, good ol’ air-activated kind. Stick a pack in your pocket and simply shake them when you are ready to activate the heat.

Do note that they take 15 – 30 minutes to heat up, so you may want to start the activation process before your class ends and you head out into the cold. If you do this in the morning, they may last you the rest of the school day since they stay warm for up to 10 hours!

    Warm Socks

Another winter accessory that is often underestimated? Socks. You’d be surprised at how much heat can be lost from your feet, which is why investing in some ultra-warm socks for wintertime is a necessity.

Look for socks that are thermal, wool-blend, and/or insulated — this six-pack of socks is all of the above! They are super thick and designed for the winter; wear them with your boots all season long for maximum warmth.

    Knee-High Socks

For an even warmer sock option, try over-the-knee or knee-high socks. Whether you wear them under your jeans or over your leggings, these Merino wool knee-high socks are made for winter days and feature stretch, tension, and arch support; plus, they are naturally moisture-wicking.

If you’re going to be wearing knee-high boots, tall socks are especially a must!

    Faux Fur Boot Toppers

Give your winter boots a whole new look with some faux fur boot toppers. These will add warmth to your ankles while also giving your boots a winterized look that is so cute. They are the perfect way to add a little something extra to your outfits this season without breaking the bank!

    Leg Warmers

Layering is the key to staying warm during cold seasons — from head to toe. Just like you may wear base layers under your clothing, you can layer up your socks with some thick, scrunchy leg warmers.

These knit leg warmers come in fashion-forward colors like red, ballet pink, and pine green, so they make for a stylish finishing touch to your winter outfits.

    Ugg Boot Guard Covers

Want to wear your cozy Ugg boots but are afraid to ruin them in the snow or rain? That’s when silicone boot covers come in handy!

Slip these boot guard covers over your Uggs, and you’ll be able to take on the inclement weather with ease.

Winter Streetwear for Women: Outfits That Are Cool, Comfy, and Stylish

This post may contain affiliate links, which means we may receive a commission if you purchase through our links. Please read our full disclosure here.

This post will show you the key elements of winter streetwear, with affordable winter street-style outfits and styling tips.

    Winter Streetwear Outfit Ideas

Want to look cool but stay warm this winter? We’ve got you covered with our guide to winter streetwear fashion for women.

Streetwear style is all about laid-back dressing that emphasizes comfort while incorporating cool, fashion-forward style details. It can range from urban to edgy to West Coast skater, often featuring oversized fits, eye-catching graphic prints, and lots of layering.

So, get ready to give your wardrobe a winter update with these key street style pieces, from statement outerwear to must-have accessories, plus how to style and layer your clothing for maximum impact (and warmth).

Key Elements of Winter Streetwear for Women

Let’s break down some of the key elements of winter streetwear. These are the fabrics, textures, and styles to include when putting together a winter streetwear outfit that’s going to look on-trend while keeping you warm in the cold.

    Faux Fur, Shearling, and Fleece

Get cozy in some fuzzy fabrics like fleece, faux fur, and/or faux shearling. Not only are wearing these soft, cozy materials a great way to stay warm, but they are also a winter trend that looks super stylish.

From jackets with faux fur lining (like aviator jackets) to full-on sherpa jackets (how cozy does the one above look?), and even fuzzy accessories like gloves and hats, there are so many cute ways to incorporate these materials into your winter outfits.

    Faux Leather

If you’re going for an edgy, cool vibe, you’ll want to invest in faux leather pieces. Faux leather (or genuine leather) is a heavier material that works well in cold weather while also making an eye-catching statement.

For a streetwear look, try some faux leather cargo pants with a loose fit paired with a knit top, chunky boots or sneakers, and a puffer jacket. These pants also work with heeled booties and a going-out top for a nighttime look.

Faux leather jackets, especially ones with faux fur lining, are another favorite for the season. An oversized faux leather aviator jacket is an ultra-stylish way to warm up this winter and will make any outfit look instantly cooler.

    Knitwear

Knitwear in the wintertime? *Groundbreaking.* But seriously, knitwear is a key element of winter style, including streetwear style — you just have to look out for pieces that have a more relaxed vibe, whether with an oversized fit or funky print.

Oversized sweaters are a must-have that you can wear with jeans, cargo pants, faux leather pants, and more. And while just about anything goes, consider sweaters in bright colors and/or with an interesting pattern, like swirls, geometric shapes, or a graphic print for extra flair.

An even more unique way to incorporate knitwear into your winter streetwear outfits is with pieces that aren’t sweaters. For example, these knit cargo pants and matching knit hoodie are items that usually aren’t made from a sweater-like fabric, so it makes them that much cooler (and warmer).

    Corduroy

You may not instantly equate corduroy with street style, but think again! This heavier material, which was once reserved for boho and vintage-inspired looks, has made its way into the streetwear scene and is a prime choice for warming up in the wintertime.

A pair of loose-fitting corduroy cargo pants with oversized pockets have a relaxed look that pairs perfectly with some cool sneakers or clogs, while a corduroy puffer jacket with a short length puts a fresh spin on a wintertime classic.

    Color Palettes and Patterns

Anything goes when it comes to streetwear! You can just as easily wear a dark, monochromatic look as you could a bold, colorful look — there are no rules. I also love a neutral look with a pop of color, which can be in the form of eye-catching sneakers or an oversized scarf.

As for patterns, think outside the box: checkerboards, swirls, psychedelic prints, and any graphic designs are going to lend your winter outfits an eye-catching element.

Winter Essentials: Must-Haves for Your Winter Wardrobe

Ready to build your winter streetwear wardrobe? These are the essential pieces to look for — they will keep you warm while looking cool. Try these winter streetwear outfit combinations for a stylish take on winter dressing.

    Puffer Jackets

IDK about you, but I practically live in puffer jackets during the wintertime. They are one of the warmest options when it comes to outerwear, and with so many fashionable options, there’s a puffer for any style or outfit.

You can’t go wrong with a short or cropped puffer jacket, especially with jeans and sneakers as a daily look. Another alternative? A long puffer jacket. It’s the ultimate way to beat the cold, and it looks ultra cool with sweatpants and chunky boots.

    Long Coats

PLT Long Trench CoatPLT Long Trench Coat

There’s something about long coats that just make you look chic. Whether you wear a trench coat or a dad coat, long coats that have a structured design give you an instantly polished appearance that is sure to elevate your winter streetwear looks — even laid-back outfits with sneakers.

Long coats are also a perfect pick for layered looks; wear one with a sweater layered over a longer shirt, along with cargo pants or wide-leg pants for a fashion-forward effect.

    Fleece Jacket

Pacsun Navy Fleece JacketPacsun Navy Fleece Jacket

There can often be an overlap between streetwear and athleisure, so it’s no surprise that fleece jackets with an athletic vibe are staples for both aesthetics.

Whether you style them with leggings for a true athletic look or opt for a street-style vibe by styling them with parachute or cargo pants, these jackets are as cozy as they are cool.

    Fleece Sweatpants & Sweatshirts

It doesn’t get much comfier or cozier than some fleece sweats. Whether you opt for a sweatsuit with a matching sweatshirt and sweatpants or wear the pieces separately, you are sure to feel super snug. Luckily, sweats are a mainstay in streetwear, so you won’t have to sacrifice comfort for style this season.

Be sure to opt for sweatshirts and sweatpants with oversized fits, which have more of a streetwear feel (plus, they’re extra comfortable).

    Loose-Fitting Jeans

Baggy and loose-fitting jeans are the ultimate bottoms for streetwear outfits, especially in the wintertime; these jeans pair especially well with sneakers, which are a streetwear staple.

You can even layer tights or leggings underneath your jeans to stay extra warm during the winter. Be sure to consider heavy denim for added warmth, too.

Coated jeans are another great option: these have a similar look to faux leather pants but are a bit more casual. A pair with a baggy fit will look ultra-cool styled with sneakers and a cropped puffer jacket, as shown above.

    Cargo Pants

    Tilly's Cargo PantsTilly's Cargo Pants

The other style of pants that rivals baggy jeans when it comes to streetwear? Cargo pants, of course!

These feature a similar baggy fit but with added pockets — and who doesn’t love pockets?! These casual pants are ideal for everyday wear, whether with sneakers, boots, clogs, and more.

Like with baggy jeans, you can consider layering tights or leggings under your cargos for extra warmth.

    Trendy Winter Accessories

To put together the perfect winter streetwear look, you can’t forget about winter accessories that are going to elevate your ensemble — and keep you extra warm.

A knit beanie hat is an absolute must-have, and IMO, you can never have enough of these! From solid-color beanies to beanies with graphic prints or bold logos, these are going to help you retain heat while also giving you a laid-back vibe.

An oversized scarf is another winter streetwear staple, especially one with a colorful plaid print. These warm, fuzzy accessories are a great way to add a pop of color and print to your winter outfits.

    Sneakers

Journeys New Balance SneakersJourneys New Balance Sneakers

Streetwear and sneakers go hand-in-hand. And what’s not to like about shoes that are actually comfortable to wear?!

There are so many trendy sneaker styles to choose from this season, all of which will add major flair to your looks. Some of my favorite streetwear-style sneakers to consider are Adidas Samba and Gazelle sneakers, New Balance 530 (above) and 9060 sneakers, and Nike Jordan and Dunks.

In the wintertime, don’t forget to pair your sneakers with thicker socks for added warmth.

    Chunky Boots

    https://www.asos.com/us/topshop/topshop-louise-chunky-sock-ankle-boot-in-black/prd/204979060#colourWayId-204979071https://www.asos.com/us/topshop/topshop-louise-chunky-sock-ankle-boot-in-black/prd/204979060#colourWayId-204979071

While I love sneakers, boots are bound to keep your feet that much warmer in the wintertime. For a streetwear vibe, go for boots that have chunky lug soles, which give boots a more rugged, laid-back feel. Any color works, but you can never go wrong with some classic black boots that tend to be the most versatile, especially with a short heel that you can wear day or night.

Would you wear these outfits? Which winter streetwear look is your favorite? Leave a comment and let us know!

The 7 Best Heated Gloves to Buy Right Now

When choosing heated gloves, it’s important to look at where the warmth will be distributed. This option
, for instance, heats the back of the hand and all five fingers, which is perfect if that’s the area you’re focusing on. While these gloves have some classic features — multiple heat settings, a battery that lasts for a few hours, etc. — reviewers made sure to note that they specifically helped with Raynaud’s disease, something that decreases blood flow and often makes fingers feel extra cold. Plus, even though the glove fingers are warm, they’ll still work on touch screens, so you won’t have to worry about removing them to use your phone or other devices.

It’s like they never left. With the 2000s slowly creeping back into our closets, UGG boots are having a major resurgence, and we’re happy to report that this season’s comfiest shoe is also a celebrity favorite. Some of the biggest champions of the UGG renaissance include Bella Hadid, whose cool-girl styling of platform UGGs and slouchy white socks is now permanently seared into our brains. Keke Palmer, meanwhile, wore low-rise platform UGGs with her denim-on-denim ensemble at New York Fashion Week.

UGGs originally built a following rooted in coziness, but this time around, they also have aesthetic appeal. New releases like the Dipper boot, promoted by Cardi B and Natalia Bryant, feature trendy platform soles with a form-fitting design, contouring the foot like Balenciaga’s viral sock-sneakers. And while you can still get your hands on plush UGG slippers for at-home comfort, celebrities are now marketing the boots in particular as a legitimate form of streetwear.

Lori Harvey, for example, paired the Dipper boot with a purple cargo miniskirt and casual white tank top. Vanessa Hudgens also broke out the UGGs for her Bachelorette trip to Aspen, going the more functional route with wool-lined hiking boots but still playing to UGG’s latest era with an oversize baseball jersey and leggings.

The celebrity consensus wants us to believe that the boots are new and improved, but if you ask us, UGGs were always a wardrobe staple. It’s just that now, more people are giving them the respect they deserve. Read on to shop some of the buzziest styles celebrities are already loving this winter.

  • Hailey Bieber Wore Overalls and Heels For an Iconic Date-Night Outfit

Hailey Bieber Wore Overalls and Heels For an Iconic Date-Night Outfit

No one had to search for how to wear overalls in the ’90s, when they somewhat defined the cultural zeitgeist with icons such as rapper Tupac, hip-hop artist Lauryn Hill, and R&B singer Aaliyah popularizing the trend. While the denim silhouette first gained momentum in the US during the 19th century as industrial workwear, it is today a fashion statement that has seen so many different iterations through the years. The ’70s gave way to overalls with flared legs or cropped and fitted versions that could be worn with nothing underneath. (See Olivia Wilde’s free-spirited, skin-baring moment ahead.) And today we’re seeing a nod back to the ’90s as street style stars opt for baggy pant legs and may even wear one, or both straps, completely undone. Call it a twist on the deconstructed-denim trend, but overalls are fast becoming yet another example of not-so-basic jeans.

Hailey Bieber recently stepped out in a pair of oversize Dickies — an iconic brand also approved by Kourtney Kardashian — that she spotlighted under her long duster coat for date night with husband Justin in Beverly Hills. By adding slick accents, such as dark, skinny sunglasses and a sharp, pointed-toe heel, she put her own stamp on the trend with ease. Meanwhile, there are plenty of ways to wear overalls through all seasons — be it in shorts form, corduroy dress form, or rugged and distressed — that cater to different tastes.

Now that overalls are trendy again, you may be at first hesitant to try them out, initially worried whether they appear flattering. But one scroll through our how-to guide, and you’ll feel well-versed in overalls, wearing them with lingerie to lounge around the house just as readily as you do for a night out finished with heels. Soon, you’ll be treating overalls like jeans — they’re easy to slip into, make for an effortless one-and-done outfit, and ridiculously chic.

Read on to see 10 of our favorite ways to wear overalls.

12 Flannel Outfits to Try This Fall and Winter

Flannel is a material generally associated with fall and winter trends — and for good reason. If you’re looking for how to wear your flannel this season, we’ve rounded up 12 unique outfits that scream fashion girl, but simultaneously keep you cozy. The soft, fuzzy, or “raised” fabric of your favorite flannel retains warmth, but that doesn’t mean it can’t earn you style points.

Your flannels aren’t just for sleeping or lounging around the house. As so many trendsetters prove, there are some pretty significant ways to wear them that stand out, whether you’re using plaid (a print typically seen on flannels) to bring casual vibes to fancier pieces, or even rocking textured shoes to add even more dimension. While most people probably think of flannels as lived-in button-downs that become soft with age, the material’s not just limited to shirting. Flannel skirts, pants, blazers, and jackets are in abundance on the streets if you look closely.

Ahead, brush up on a few new ideas for winter outfits that involve this wardrobe essential, from sporting your checked blazer with nylon drawstring shorts to putting a sporty twist on dark academia to layering a fuzzy knee-length skirt over straight-leg jeans and finishing the unexpected combination with a pair of feminine pink shoes.
