Chloë Sevigny Wore the Pant Trend Everyone’s Swapping Skinnies For

    [ad_1]

Chloë Sevigny has been our style queen since pretty much forever. So when she makes an appearance, we tend to take notes. Recently, Sevigny braved the crazy-cold temperatures last week in New York City, wearing a lush winter look comprised of navy tuxedo-striped trousers, a fluffy black coat, and a playful bag. And while mixing black and blue is not breaking any fashion rules, it can be challenging to pull off.

But then again, if anyone can make a fashion statement in mismatched trousers and a topcoat, it’s Sevigny. So this is your sign to give your blue jeans a break and try out this wide-leg style that is trending this season. It looks much more elevated, and if it’s super cold, you can always wear long underwear underneath. (Trust me on this.)

Keep scrolling to check out wide-leg pants that we think would be Sevigny approved. Stick with basic black, mix it up with navy blue, or have fun with pinstripes and pretty fabrics. Bonus points if you get ’em tailored to fit perfectly with your favorite stacked-heel boots

Selena Gomez Made This $70 Victoria’s Secret Corset Look Like a Million Bucks

    [ad_1]

There’s nothing rare about Selena Gomez being on our best dressed list, but the singer and beauty mogul is never one to get too comfortable. Her first major appearance this year (aside from all of the award show red carpets) was a wonderful winter-white outfit worn to celebrate the launch of Rare Beauty’s new Find Comfort body collection.

Notably, a key component of the look was a Victoria’s Secret corset. Worn under a sleek Giuseppe di Morabito suit jacket and trousers, the super-structured $70 garment appeared to be comfortable enough for prolonged wear.

So why not borrow a styling trick from Gomez and embrace high-low winter statement dressing? Shop her head-to-toe look below. Or start with the corset, and mix and match your way to creating the complete outfit for a price point that’s a bit less rare for your wardrobe. Accessorize with silver jewelry that can be worn on repeat, and boom: Look at her now.

Dakota Johnson Wore a Thong-Baring Sheer Dress to the SNL After Party

    [ad_1]

As if her Saturday Night Live promo images weren’t chic enough—with especially note-worthy inclusions being an Alessandra Rich catsuit made entirely of lace and a Khaite bodysuit styled with just tights and a giant feather coat—this week’s host Dakota Johnson showed up to the after party in the most perfect sheer, hand-beaded vintage Alaïa gown, like, ever

The dress, which was designed by the late founder of the house Azzedine Alaïa and included in his spring/summer 1996 collection, was sourced by Johnson’s longtime stylist Kate Young from Vintage Grace, a New York City–based designer-vintage business founded by Chandler Guttersen in 2021. It features short sleeves and sequin embellishments throughout, making it completely sheer and perfect for the occasion. On top, the Madame Web actress wore a feather Saint Laurent jacket, adding simple black pumps and a Jimmy Choo handbag to finish off the look.

  • TikTok Has Spoken—”Mob Wife” Is the 2024 Aesthetic Replacing “Quiet Luxury”

TikTok Has Spoken—”Mob Wife” Is the 2024 Aesthetic Replacing “Quiet Luxury”

    [ad_1]

Tiktok’s first viral trend of 2024 is decade’s old. Yep, I’m talking about the “Mob Wife” aesthetic or “Mob Wife Winter.” Calling back to the trends of the ’80s and ‘90s East Coast Italian mob wives from T.V. references like the female leads from HBO’s The Sopranos to opulent runway trends of leopard and maximalist animal print aesthetics like Yves Saint Laurent’s Spring Summer 1986 runway show this trend has taken TikTok by storm with over 127 million views on TikTok. Our favorite fashion data accounts like @databutmakeitfashion have documented the internet’s switch from 2023’s oh-so-popular “clean girl” aesthetic to all things “mob wives.” To get the look you’re going to need sheer or fishnet tights, animal print pieces, gold vintage-looking jewelry, and of course a big faux fur.

I rounded up 30 “mob wife” ready pieces to make getting the look even easier, you can thank me later.

I Wear Jeans At Least 4 Times A Week—Trust Me, These Brands Are Game Changers

    [ad_1]

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: I love a good pair of jeans. They’re my go-to for my office day, for a happy hour, a brunch, a meeting, and sometimes even a first date. But with so many denim brands popping up left and right it can be overwhelming when you’re on the hunt for your perfect pair of jeans. Especially when you want a high-quality pair that you know will last for years to come. As a denim lover and editor I’ve tried/tested almost every denim brand you can think of. Some we’re misses, but let’s focus on the hits. I’ve rounded up 6 denim brands that I’d stamp with my seal of approval, and recommend you get a pair from each immediately.

  • Emily Ratajkowski’s Pants-Adjacent Alo Leggings Deserve to Be an It item

Emily Ratajkowski’s Pants-Adjacent Alo Leggings Deserve to Be an It item

    [ad_1]

Emily Ratajkowski’s New York City street style is an endless supply of trend and It-item inspiration. Most of the outfits she wears for her walks around the city are quite casual and comfortable—but always cool. An observation I’ve made recently is that Ratajkowski has been trading sweatpants and traditional leggings for bootcut leggings. On two occasions last week, she paired Alo bootcut leggings with oversize outerwear.

So why do these Alo leggings deserve to be an It item? For starters, they’re affordable at just around $100. Additonally, at first glance, no one would realize that you’re wearing leggings—albiet flared ones. They come across as chic black pants. I actually own these exact leggings and can confirm that they’re quite thick and non-legging looking.

Bootcute jeans are a rising denim trend, and accordingly, I foresee the boutcut look trickling into other categories of pants. And since people love Alo, don’t be surprised if these bootcut leggings start to sell out. If you’re into them, I suggest shopping now just in case that happens. Keep scrolling to see and shop there.

I Tried on All of Madewell’s Most Popular Jeans—These 5 Were the Winners

    [ad_1]

I’ve been wearing Madewell jeans for as long as I can remember, and there are several reasons why. First of all, the brand is always quick to join in on the latest denim trends (without ever ignoring the classics). Additionally, its jeans are well-made but inexpensive compared to other denim brands of comparable quality. And lastly, they’re comfortable and true-to-size (and they come in tons of sizes and even different length options).

For the first time in a long time, I’m in desperate need of a few new pairs of jeans, and I’ve had my eye on several Madewell ones as of late. Accordingly, I got the chance to try on a whole stack of jeans in the comfort of my own home and I’m here to share the fruits of my labor with you.

Choosing the right pair of jeans for you is a pretty personal thing, but I did my best to give my honest feedback in the most helpful way possible. And I took photos of my try-on adventure, of course. I don’t know about you but I’m someone who is always searching for photos of exact styles of jeans in Google Image.

With that, scroll on for my hot take on all of the best jeans at Madewell (and shop the exact styles I tried).

Apparently, No One’s Wearing These Spring Dresses Anymore—Shop These 7 Instead

    [ad_1]

As cold as it feels outside (which, trust me, is cold), spring will eventually appear, and for most people, its arrival will come with the realization that their warm-weather wardrobes are in desperate need of a 2024 refresh. I like to think of myself as a pretty timeless dresser and shopper, and I still know for a fact that by the time the first nice day rolls around, the contents of my spring bins will feel at least slightly like old news. So rather than let spring sneak up on me like I have so many times before, I’m getting proactive about my wardrobe for the upcoming season—starting with dresses.

In an effort to distract myself from the cold this week, I cozied up inside and drew up a spring-dress plan, deciding which styles I no longer need in my closet and which I should fill those empty hangers with. After consulting friends, fellow editors, and, of course, Instagram, I came to the conclusion that the seven dress trends below are officially on the outs with the fashion crowd. Scroll down to find out which ones are getting the axe and find seven alts to buy instead.

With Coats This Chic, It Won’t Even Matter What You’re Wearing Underneath

    [ad_1]

No matter the season, I am always seeking out ways to make getting ready easier (and faster), but winter is the time that I need a major boost in that department. As someone that lives in the Northeast, it is super easy to fall into a style rut when the temperatures take a nosedive. One key piece I rely on for helping me feel the most put-together is a chic winter coat.

To fortify my closet as the cold-weather arrived, I made sure to update my outerwear collection with coats that would make me look fashionable regardless of what I am wearing underneath. You’d be surprised how a stellar coat can transform even your most low-key hoodie and sweatpants ensemble. Your winter outfits will be instantly more elevated, and dare I say, expensive-looking.

Below, I rounded up 35 of the chicest coats of the moment, all organized by color, because, why not? Enjoy a variety of styles, including scarf coats, maxi coats, and more.

We Collectively Own Hundreds of Tees, and These 7 Are Guaranteed Non-See-Through

    [ad_1]

Every fashion editor I know lives for their wardrobe staples. Part of our job is trying it all and writing our detailed reviews, so when it comes to knowing our favorites, we have it down. With white T-shirts being the pinnacle of basics, of course, we’re going to have some opinions on them. While I love a semi-sheer tee, especially for layering in winter, non-see-through T-shirts are must-haves. It can be difficult to tell when shopping online which white T-shirts will truly be opaque, so I decided to ask my co-workers for their picks.

My bra collection varies from neutral shades to bright strokes of red and plum. With that being said, I know a T-shirt is really not see-through when I can throw it on over any bra and walk out the door. My fellow fashion editors feel the same, so I asked them for suggestions, and they delivered. Below, find the seven non-see-through white T-shirts my co-workers will sell you on.

Derms Recommend This Ingredient to Fix Dry, Flaky Scalps (and It Only Costs $13)

    [ad_1]

There are two options when it comes to using tea tree oil to soothe a dry, flaky scalp: You can use pure tea tree oil, or you can use products formulated with it. While the former is possible, Yadav recommends the latter. “I’d recommend products formulated with tea tree oil over using pure tea tree oil. Pure tea tree oil has to be diluted as it is very powerful and using it straight can cause significant irritation,” she says.

As such, it’s imperative to use pure tea tree oil correctly. If you were to use pure tea tree oil, you should only use a few drops mixed into your shampoo; it’s better to shop for formulas that were created with tea tree oil and have already been tested for safety and efficacy.”

“Shorts are a key piece for spring, as seen on the Isabel Marant, Khaite, and Prada runways, ranging from Bermuda styles that hit just above the knee to those with micro mini hemlines. We saw this trend on early adapters last year, whether it was the hyper-editorial ‘no pants trend’ shorts paired with tights and long wool coats, or longer tailored styles worn with matching blazers and tall boots. There’s excitement to show some leg, and as the weather warms up, expect shorts to be everywhere.” —April Hennig, Chief Merchandising Officer, Moda Operandi

Casual Elegance Is My 2024 Vibe—8 Outfits I Just Screenshotted

    [ad_1]

I’ve noticed a major shift in the overarching fashion realm and maybe you’ve noticed it, too. Style right now is heading in a very elegant direction where we’ve taken a sharp pivot away from experimental Y2K trends and have begun embracing polished, grown-up, and utterly sophisticated looks. You might be thinking that this is simply the next phase of the quiet-luxury movement, and you wouldn’t be wrong about that. But the mood du jour is also one that’s inspired by the opulence of 1960s fashion with elements like A-line skirts, luxe duchess satin, and lots of belted silhouettes.

I could go on and on about it, but for the sake of this story, I’ll cut to the chase: I’m personally stepping into my elegant era in 2024 and have gathered the outfit inspiration I’m looking to emulate in the coming weeks and months. These looks are littering my mood board for their low-key polish that’s both chic and easy to wear without feeling overly costumey. Ahead, I’m sharing eight elegant outfit ideas that are quite effortless to put together.

  • The One Winter Coat Fashion People Regularly Wear to Look Wealthy

The One Winter Coat Fashion People Regularly Wear to Look Wealthy

    [ad_1]

Although we yearn for spring to come faster (albeit for warmer temperatures or the chance to switch up our wardrobes), the harsh truth is that we’re still in the midst of winter. Sure, we can try to be in denial by putting off pulling our puffer coats, thermal layers, and snow boots out of storage, but eventually, we have to face it. When that moment comes, it can be hard to succumb to the idea that your sartorial choices must be based more on function than fashion. But what if I told you you didn’t have to choose between the two? There’s a way to look chic and avoid being cold: faux-fur coats.

We know what you’re thinking. “Faux fur coats? Groundbreaking.” In all fairness, this type of outerwear has been around for a long time. Yes, we’ve seen this coat trend surge in popularity in the last few weeks for a few reasons, most obviously, the need for warmer outerwear as several cold fronts have swept across the northern hemisphere. But the most significant element at play has been social media, which has proliferated the cultural obsession with looking, well, wealthy. You can’t scroll through TikTok, Instagram, or even our site without seeing mentions of the “quiet luxury,” “mob wife,” or “old money” fashion aesthetics. (They have a grip on the zeitgeist, okay?!) It’s within this context that we’ve seen more of the fashion set reincorporate this coat style back into their winter wardrobes.

While one might think it’s “cliché” to incorporate a coat into your closet again just because it’s cool on social media, there’s something to be said about the continued allure of this style. It’s not just that faux-fur coats feel current—they also have an air of timelessness that no other coat style can compete with. Therefore, there one of the best items one can turn to when they want to look chic during a cold front. But if you find you’re still not sold why you should adopt this coat, you’ll want to keep reading.

Ahead, we’re sharing outfits from stylish people in New York, Copenhagen, and Paris to showcase how to style fuzzy coats. Plus, we’ve rounded up the 22 best faux-fur coats at every price point should you be inspired to partake in the trend for yourself. Trust us when we say this one coat will solve any winter woes almost as well as warmer weather (or money) can.

  • 7 Key Skincare Trends That Experts Predict Will Be Huge This Year

7 Key Skincare Trends That Experts Predict Will Be Huge This Year

    [ad_1]

Every year seems to bring with it a new host of trending skincare ingredients, and in 2024, adaptogens are set to be the next big thing. Long since used in traditional medicine, adaptogens help the body to adjust to the impact of stressors, and in skincare, they help to repair stress-induced skin damage. This ties in with the growing trend for stressed-skin solutions but also, according to Bee, a return to heritage and traditional skincare therapies.

“The world of skincare has become increasingly scientific, complex, and, in some spaces, culturally less accessible and somewhat cold,” she explains. “In adjacent categories like food and health, we are seeing a return to ancient wisdom, looking back to discover our core needs and strip back any unnecessary complications. This movement is present in skincare, too, perhaps most tangibly with products that draw from traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic ingredients.” So expect to see the likes of ashwagandha, neem, reishi mushrooms, ginseng, and Moringa popping up in your skincare formulas over the next year.

  • This Key Hair Staple Is a Must for Keeping Your Curls Juicy AF

This Key Hair Staple Is a Must for Keeping Your Curls Juicy AF

    [ad_1]

According to veteran celebrity hairstylist and Flawless by Gabrielle Union co-founder Larry Sims, deep conditioning offers a more intense treatment than a typical conditioner since its designed to rebuild and strengthen brittle hair that heat, chemicals, or stressors have damaged. This is especially crucial for individuals with curly hair, as its crucial to incorporate deep conditioning into wash day routines to deliver nourishment and preserve the integrity of their curls.

“Like all hair products, deep conditioners are best selected to target the specific needs of your hair type,” Sims begins. “Curly hair types thrive when ultra-moisturizing and protein-rich deep conditioners like the Flawless Repairing Deep Conditioning Masque are used within a wash day regimen.” This particular product stands out to him due to the formula’s combination of biotin, creatine, and rice oil complex that works to repair any existing damage while delivering hydration and the reduction of frizz.

When looking for a deep conditioner that would work best for curly hair patterns keep an eye out for ingredients like argan oil, coconut oil, and shea butter and avoid any containing alcohol or sulfates; as they’ll dry out your strands. Incorporating a deep conditioner in your wash day routine is quick, easy, and effective. “After using your favorite shampoo, apply your deep conditioner to damp hair. Make sure the product is fully saturated on your hair, leaving no curl behind,” says Sims. “Massage the deep conditioner into hair from root to ends using fingers, or consider using a wide-tooth comb or brush to ensure each strand is coated.”

For a quick shower routine, Sims recommends leaving the deep conditioner in the hair for 5 to 10 minutes or, for a more intense process, cover hair with a shower cap and sitting under a hooded dryer for extra saturation and nourishment to the curls. Next, rinse with cool water to seal in moisture before applying the next step in your styling routine.

Below, take a look at our picks for the best deep conditioners on the market based on our testing and thousands of glowing reviews across Sephora, Ulta, Dermstore, and more.
