Jeans Dominate My Capsule Wardrobe—7 Outfits I'm Relying on for Winter

    [ad_1]

It’s official: Winter is here. Now is the time to bring out the sweaters and coats and start to think about and revitalizing our weekly outfit rosters ready for the season ahead.

But let’s not make life too difficult for ourselves—instead of overhauling all your sartorial habits, start by tweaking your existing go-to looks. As a team, we Who What Wear writers are guilty of living in jeans. And we know we’re not the only ones. Scanning Instagram this week, I’ve noticed that pretty much every influencer I follow is just as reliant on denim as I am. It makes sense: no other trouser is quite as versatile, seasonless and suited to everyday wear.

So, let’s start there. Instead of reaching for your tired T-shirts and worn-out ankle boots after buttoning up your favorite jeans, try out some of the fresh combinations below.

  • Turns Out I’m Granola-Curious—62 Elevated Picks Inspired by the TikTok Trend

Turns Out I’m Granola-Curious—62 Elevated Picks Inspired by the TikTok Trend

    [ad_1]

Since last year, I noticed a shift happening in my personal style but couldn’t quite put my finger on how to define it. I was (and am) still interested in my usual classic-meets-minimalist neutral outfits, but I found my attention gravitating toward more laid-back looks that have an outdoorsy feel. For fall, I’ve been especially craving fleece jackets, plaid details, and relaxed jeans, and more than anything, I want to wear Birkenstock Boston clogs 24/7. It wasn’t until I came across a viral TikTok video last month from Kylie Cline, aka @koolieclone, that I finally had the perfect term to help describe my personal style as of late: granola-curious.

With that in mind, I set out to find outfit inspiration that reflects an aesthetic that romanticizes but doesn’t fully embrace a granola vibe while still incorporating my commitment to chic and classic ensembles. Keep scrolling to check out a variety of stylish outfit ideas that fit the bill, plus 62 elevated picks inspired by the TikTok trend to help re-create each look. This is essentially a guide on how to wear Birkenstock clogs for fall and winter, and I, for one, am not mad about it.

  • I Just Built 5 Expensive-Looking Outfits from ASOS and H&M

I Just Built 5 Expensive-Looking Outfits from ASOS and H&M

We fashion editors are often asked about how to curate the perfect wardrobe, and the answer is often the same: versatility. In an ideal world, your wardrobe should include some timeless, premium pieces mixed in amongst more affordable trend-led items (extra points for any vintage and secondhand pieces you can wear). This mix of brands and price points will help your clothing will reflect your personality, and above all else, dressing in a way that is true to you is what makes fashion fun.

That being said, I totally understand the appeal of building a capsule wardrobe from just one store. First of all, it’s an effective use of your time. (No one wants to traipse around the shops or endlessly scroll through every new-in section.) And secondly, pieces from the same store tend to look seamlessly pulled together as we know all too well that a brand’s honed aesthetic can make or break your chances of shopping success. Two of the brands that we spend the most time looking at are ASOS and H&M. The sites are veritable treasure troves of new-in pieces ranging from affordable takes on runway trends to everyday basics, so there’s an overwhelming amount to sift through. That’s where we step in. Below, I’ve assembled five expensive-looking outfits that are guaranteed to work for every occasion in your social calendar.

I’m a Fashion Writer, and I’m Craving More of Easy Outfit Ideas Like These 12

I like embellishments, dramatic layering, platform heels and over accessorizing as much as (if not more than) the next person, but admittedly, dressing to the nines at all times can leave anyone with a bit of decision fatigue. Let alone that dreaded feeling of looking at a full closet of statement pieces (rather than staples) and feeling like you have “nothing to wear.” That said, even as a fashion writer whose job lies in scoping out innovative trends, sometimes there’s an even greater satisfaction in nailing the art of a really simple, but equally cute outfit.

I’m talking the kind outfits that you reach for when you do indeed have an itinerary of things to do for the day, but want to look put together without all the extra effort. As it would have it, building a wardrobe around these kinds of outfits will likely leave you investing in versatile staples. In the end, you’ll find yourself experiencing that “nothing to wear” feeling less often, if even at all. As the outfits ahead prove, less really is more. Keep scrolling for 12 easy, breezy outfits worth keeping in mind the next time you’re in the mood for some online shopping.

  • This Is How to Wear Leggings as Pants in 2023 and Still Look Relevant

This Is How to Wear Leggings as Pants in 2023 and Still Look Relevant

    [ad_1]

If you’re still trying to break the habit of wearing leggings all day every day, you’re not alone. Between 2020 and 2022, leggings were basically the only type of pants in existence. And, it’s kind of bittersweet to end a two-year streak of wearing elastic waistbands.

So why bother? There are plenty of ways to wear leggings as pants that don’t feel or look super dated. The key is, of course, letting other parts of the outfit do the heavy style lifting. For example, we love the look of leggings with an oversize blazer—a combo we would never have tried if not for endless Zoom meetings—which can look more playful with the right shoes and accessories and less like you just threw this jacket on to look professional.

Or perhaps you’ve doubled down on neutral shades and matching sets and are looking for a way to wear them that does not include denim. In that case, we suggest moving beyond your basic black leggings for something a bit more intentional, like a soft brown or heather gray.

Lest we forget, leggings are a great way to put the focus on tall socks with logos or interesting details and can easily be styled with a variety of shoes from slingbacks to ballet slippers. With that in mind, we’ve pulled key pieces from seven outfits with leggings that will let you keep wearing the beloved stretch pants into 2023 and beyond. Get ready—your go-to leggings are about to have a glow-up.
