For centuries, sailors have whispered tales of monstrous rogue waves capable of splitting ships and damaging oil rigs. These maritime myths turned real with the documented 26-meter-high rogue wave at Draupner oil platform in 1995.
Fast forward to 2023, and researchers at the University of Copenhagen and the University of Victoria have harnessed the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to predict these oceanic giants. They’ve developed a revolutionary formula using data from over a billion waves spanning 700 years, transforming maritime safety.
Decoding Rogue Waves: A Data-Driven Approach
The quest to understand rogue waves led researchers to explore vast ocean data. They focused on rogue waves, twice the size of surrounding waves, and even the extreme ones over 20 meters high. By analyzing data from buoys across the US and its territories, they amassed more than a billion wave records, equivalent to 700 years of ocean activity.
Using machine learning, the researchers crafted an algorithm to identify rogue wave causes. They discovered that rogue waves occur more frequently than imagined, with about one monster wave daily at random ocean locations. However, not all are the colossal 20-meter giants feared by mariners.

The study stands out for its use of AI, particularly symbolic regression. Unlike traditional AI methods that offer single predictions, this approach yields an equation. It’s akin to Kepler deciphering planetary movements from Tycho Brahe’s astronomical data, but with AI analyzing waves.

WAVES Return To Glory: Crypto Analyst Charts 2400% Growth Trajectory To $49 | Bitcoinist.com
Waves (WAVES) was one of the blockchains launched back in 2016 around the time when blockchains like Ethereum and Cardano were just coming into the market. At the time, WAVES was promising but it has been unable to keep up with the times and has fallen out of favor with investors. That is, until now, when one crypto analyst sees an explosive recovery that could send it back toward its 2022 all-time highs.
WAVES Gearing Up For 2400% Explosion
Crypto analyst and trader AlanSantana presented an incredibly bullish scenario for WAVES in an analysis that carried four total price targets for the digital asset. Santana explains that the WAVES price has been trading very close to its January 2023 lows, which means that it has not really followed the recent market recovery as much as the other altcoins.
There had been times when the altcoin’s price had seen recovery. But it was to a much smaller extent compared to where the market currently is. Instead, WAVES has continued to consolidate for the better part of a year, which makes it primed for a breakout.
Due to this sustained consolidation, the crypto analyst believes that WAVES’s next move up “can be really strong.” This is also backed by other factors such as the increase in trading volume, as well as a strong RSI for the token. Mainly, the RSI backing this move is that it has remained strong at 75 even while prices were down as the analyst explains.

Mapping Out The Price Targets
In the chart shared on TradingView, Santana outlines where they are looking for the price to land. The main targets are four, but the first move, and perhaps the most important one, will be the one that takes WAVES from its current under $2 price level to above $7. This first target will mean an approximate 290% increase from its present market value.
Then moving on from this $7 mark, the expectations start to get interesting with even bigger price targets. The next target sits at $18, translating to an 8.15% move in price. Next in line is another $10 move to reach the $28 mark, a 1,323% increase.

Not ending there, the next price level sits at the $28 mark which is a 1,872% increase. Last but not least is the last price level at $49.2, an over 2,400% increase from $1.98. Reaching this level would push it very close to its previous all-time high price of $62.
As for a timeframe, the crypto analyst does not provide one for when WAVES might hit these levels. However, given that the last time that the digital asset saw such a move, it’s safe to say that the forecast could play out in the next crypto bull market.

Kicking off their North American headline tour at Sea.Hear.Now 2023, I sat down with singer and bassist, Mike Kerr to talk the new album, tour, and more!
PD: You released your new album this month, Back To The Water Below. What was the inspiration behind it?
RB: The inspiration is kind of always about reacting to the album you made before it, you know? So the album we made before was during COVID and lockdown, so it felt more like a studio album. With this album now, we made it for the live shows. Playing live and going back to that simplicity and who we are again is the main sort of inspiration.
PD: Would you say you had playing live in mind when you wrote the album?
RB: I think we always do. We get a lot of ideas- or beginnings of ideas- on the road when we were touring. So I feel like, yeah, it was always on our minds.
PD: This kicks off your North American tour- what are you most excited about with performing live?
RB: I think it’s just getting to be with our fans and getting that connection. We don’t get to come here as often as we’d like…and as COVID proved, you never know when the next time is that you’re going to get to be together. I think it’s about being in front of people.
PD: You’re childhood friends who shared a love for rock- who were your favorite artists growing up?
RB: Favorite artists would be The Beatles, Queen, Rage Against The Machine, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, and Jeff Buckley.
PD: If you could summarize the album in a few words, what would they be?
RB: I would say melodic, English, and rock-and-roll…which I’m counting as one word.
PD: Songs like “Pull Me Through” are a bit of a stylistic shift for you guys. Were you consciously doing this while writing or did it just happen?
RB: It’s mainly something that’s just happening. I think when we start ideas that sound fresh, that’s usually the kind of reason to continue with them. I think when you’re writing and you feel like you’ve done it before, it’s not really inspiring.
PD: What are your favorite songs to perform live?
RB: “Shiner In The Dark” is my favorite at the minute and a song called “Waves”, which is the last track on the album.
