A west Charlotte road will reopen before rush hour Friday days after it was closed because of a water main break, Charlotte Water said.
West Morehead Street near Interstate 77 was closed Monday for emergency pipe repairs and road repaving.
It was the second time a water main broke in the area shutting down roads, the first being on Feb. 4 near Calvert Street.

Crews are working to repair a water main that broke near the Village District in Raleigh.
On Thursday, officials said a water main broke on Cameron Street, causing a closure from Daniels Street to Woodburn Road.
Cameron Street is now scheduled to reopen by midnight on Thursday as long as the weather permits, officials said.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area. Customers should not experience any water service interruptions.
Cameron Street was previously closed in July for a water main that broke, sending water shooting in the air.

The Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority dealt with a Christmas Day water main break.

A Christmas afternoon water main break dropped water pressure to “low” or even “no” from Islamorada down to Key West, according to the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority and residents posting to social media.
At 8:13 p.m., the FKAA announced a precautionary boil water notice, in effect until noon Sunday, for all homes and businesses in these areas:
The FKAA advises checking the agency’s Facebook page for updates as well as the alerts on the agency website.
arlier, the agency said, “FKAA crews will be working all night long in an attempt to have water fully restored by the morning.”
The Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority said the problem was a transmission main break in Islamorada.
Monroe County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Adam Lindhardt said in an email, “Traffic on U.S. 1 was not significantly impacted as the break was on the Old Highway.”

A water main break has closed part of a street in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, on Thursday and left a nearby business without water, city officials said.
A city spokesperson said 121st Avenue Northwest is closed to eastbound traffic near Hanson Boulevard. A gas station at the corner of the intersection is without water.
Crews will be working to repair the pipe for the next several hours, the city said.

Officials in the city of Benicia urged all residents, businesses, schools and other facilities to significantly curtail their water usage, after a water pipeline was damaged Wednesday.
Around 5:30 p.m., the city announced on social media that a Stage 4 “Critical Water Shortage” emergency was declared. The community of 26,000 people in Solano County is urged to reduce water usage by 40%.
Officials said the order was prompted by damage to the city’s main drinking water transmission line in the area of Goodyear Road and Morrow Lane. In response, the city is relying on its secondary water source at Lake Herman.
Traffic in the area of the damaged pipeline is being detoured to Parish Road amid repair efforts.
During the shortage, the community is urged to stop all non-essential outdoor water use, including car washing and filling of swimming pools. Residents are also urged to keep showers to five minutes or less and to only run dishwashers and washing machines with full loads.
In March 2023, the city declared a similar water shortage alert after the pipeline was damaged near Interstate 680 and Gold Hill Road when a hillside collapsed. Officials said the two incidents are not connected.
At Luca’s Bar and Grill in Benicia, owner Jan Luca said Thursday he’s already feeling the effects.
“We are no longer offering water unless the customer asks for it,” Luca explained.
City Manager Sarah Shawky urged residents to conserve as much as possible.
“Some examples would be to reduce your shower to five minutes,” Shawky said. “Limit or eliminate your outdoor irrigation. Please don’t fill up your pool. Just do what you can to conserve water.”
She added that Lake Herman holds about a 30-day supply at full use, but conservation could help extend that timeline.
Officials said water from the lake may have an earthy taste or smell due to natural compounds, but it is safe to drink and meets all state and federal water quality standards. Still, some residents are uneasy about relying on Lake Herman again.
“Everyone knows Lake Herman doesn’t have the best water. You can go down there and see it for yourself,” said Matt Jones, a Benicia resident.
The cause of the new damage hasn’t been disclosed, and it was not immediately known when repairs would be completed.

A water main break is causing a traffic detour in Washington Township.

The break was reported near the 800 block of Miamisburg-Centerville Road, according to a spokesperson for Montgomery County.
Eastbound lanes have been closed between Paragon and McEwen Roads, Washington Township officials shared on social media.

The county shared the following detours for drivers:
At McEwen Road, eastbound traffic will be detoured south on McEwen Road
From there, drivers will turn east onto W. Spring Valley Road
The detour continues north on Paragon Road, reconnecting with Miamisburg-Centerville Road
Drivers should expect delays in the area.
"The county thanks residents and commuters for their patience and cooperation while these necessary repairs are made," a county spokesperson said.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Water Bureau crews have been working on the scene of a large main break that occurred around 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 near N.W. 29th/31st and N.W. Yeon. It caused discolored water throughout N.W. Portland and parts of S.W. Portland.
“Your public health and access to your drinking water are our top priorities. Water main breaks can’t be predicted – one of the challenges of underground infrastructure – but we know that they can cause significant difficulties for our community members, especially our small businesses,” said Water Bureau Director Edward Campbell. “Our skilled crews work around the clock 365 days a year. Rest assured, they’re working hard to get fresh water back to Portlanders taps as soon as possible.”
Crews are on the scene, working to repair the main as quickly as possible. About 15 properties are without water service.
While a small number of properties are out of water, the break caused discoloration experienced by many properties throughout Northwest Portland and some of Southwest Portland. The discoloration is caused by a fine, organic sediment that is always present in our pipes that was temporarily stirred up by the main break. The water is treated, and no boil water notice is being issued for those experiencing the discolored water. However, discolored water is not the quality of water the Portland Water Bureau prefers to serve. If you’re experiencing discolored water at your property, rely on your emergency water supply or bottled water until the water runs clear. There are no significant traffic impacts at this time. Due to the large size of the main, 16 inches, it could take many hours to repair. Crews are working to determine the extent of the damage and the duration of the repair.

EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The town of East Greenbush has announced an active water main break in East Greenbush and the city of Rensselaer. The Commissioner of Public Works has issued a water restriction for East Greenbush.
A water restriction means residents should turn off sprinklers and hoses and limit the use of washers and dishwashers to conserve water. Stick with NEWS10 for updates.

Atlanta officials were slowly repressuring the city’s water system Saturday after corroding water pipes burst in downtown and Midtown, forcing many businesses and attractions to close and affecting water service in area homes.
The city was handing out cases of water and setting up portable toilets at several fire stations and first responders were checking high rise residences to see if the elderly or other vulnerable residents were OK.
“Water is a valuable, critical resource and cities can’t function and lives can’t function without it,” Mayor Andre Dickens said during a news conference Saturday morning. “It’s absolutely at the top of our list.”
In a second news conference Saturday evening, Dickens announced that he had declared a state of emergency over the situation. The mayor said that while the crews had made significant progress repairing the first water main break, they were struggling with the second break in Midtown.
“We’re still addressing the second major break…the repair there has been a little bit more complicated for a few reasons…We don’t yet have an estimate on a timeline for that work,” Dickens said.
And in a statement Saturday night, the mayor’s office said that crews had “completed multiple rounds of repairs” and the “system is gradually being brought back online to allow for the rebuilding of system pressures.”
A boil water advisory was still in effect for much of Atlanta, however, until the Georgia Environmental Protection Division determines the advisory can be lifted.
According to CBS affiliate WANF-TV, the Georgia State Capitol, the Georgia Supreme Court and Atlanta City Hall had no water service Friday.
Some attractions and businesses, including the Georgia Aquarium and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, remained closed Saturday.
“The city-wide water issue is still affecting the Aquarium and many others in the area. This is not affecting our animals, but it is affecting our guest areas like restrooms,” the aquarium posted on the social platform X.
The aquarium was expected to reopen Sunday, according to WANF.
The water main break also forced rapper Megan Thee Stallion to move her concert from Friday to Sunday.
“I’m extremely disappointed because I had a huge surprise for the Hotties tonight, but we will follow the Mayor’s protocol,” she posted on X. “Praying for the people who lost access to water due to this situation.”
The problems began Friday morning when water gushed into the street where three large water mains intersect downtown, causing water problems at two hospitals, a city jail, a county jail and local shelters. A separate break occurred later in Midtown, adding to the problem.
Officials were widely criticized for being slow to update citizens on the situation. The city and its water management department sent out an update after 8 p.m. Friday and waited more than 12 hours to update residents again. Dickens didn’t address the media until 2 p.m. Saturday and explained he was in Memphis when the problem began.
Someone in the affected area posted flyers around the neighborhood asking “Don’t have water?” and “Help us find our mayor.”
Dickens promised updates every two hours until the situation is resolved.
“Overnight, we did not do the best job of communicating. We could have done a better job over the past day, and for that, I apologize,” he said.
Residents were asked to restrict water usage to allow the pressure in the system to rebuild.
“Certainly we understand the urgency of getting water service restored, but we also want to make sure we do it in a manner that does not cause any further regression of our work,” Atlanta Department of Watershed Management Commissioner Al Wiggins Jr. said during a Saturday news conference. “Any water utility, it’s a fragile setup.”
He said he hoped service would be fully restored Saturday, but he could not guarantee it.
The city urged people to check on elderly or sick neighbors and relatives.
“The entire City Government is mobilized to address this issue,” the water department said Friday.

DC Water is instructing customers in the previously impacted area to run cold water taps for 10 minutes before using, if water was not used at all during the advisory. They are also instructing those customers to discard food, beverages or ice prepared with water that was not boiled during the advisory.
The advisory affected 4,800 customers in some neighborhoods in Upper Northwest D.C., including Upper Chevy Chase, Ft. Reno, American University, Spring Valley, Friendship Heights, Westover Place, Wakefield, North Cleveland Park, Palisades, Wesley Heights, Foxhall Crescent, Foxhall Village, Hawthorne, Barnaby Woods and Chevy Chase.

The boil water advisory was issued as a conservative, precautionary measure to protect public health, DC Water said. The water main break caused a loss of water pressure, which could allow bacteria and other disease-causing contaminants to enter the system.
Bacteria and other disease-causing contamination such as viruses and parasites can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms, which could pose health risks to vulnerable groups, the utility said in a news release.
The boil water advisory was lifted after tests confirmed that drinking water meets all water quality safety standards.

FULSHEAR, Texas – The City of Fulshear is warning residents about a water main break at the Downtown Water Plant.
Officials said a contractor hit the main water line leaving the plant due to ongoing construction.
At this time, they are working to resolve the issue.
Officials say there is no boil water notice, but fluctuation in water pressure is possible.
