  • The Best Fashion Moments From the 2026 Golden Globes Red Carpet

You might still be easing into 2026, but awards season is already out in full force. In a twist from the usual schedule, the calendar kicked off with the Critics’ Choice Awards, and just a week later, it’s time for arguably one of the most fun ceremonies of the season: the Golden Globe Awards.

The Golden Globes celebrate the best in the film and television industry; this year, Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another garnered the most nominations for a film with nine, closely followed by Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value, which netted eight noms. The White Lotus leads the pack with six television nods, tailed by Adolescence with five.

Tonight, the Golden Globes return to the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, with Nikki Glaser once again taking on hosting duties in a repeat from last year. The 83rd Golden Globe Awards also mark the first time that podcasts will be honored, as this year the show is introducing a Best Podcast category. So far, announced presenters include Amanda Seyfried, Ana de Armas, Ayo Edebiri, Charli XCX, Chris Pine, Colman Domingo, Connor Storrie, Dakota Fanning, Dave Franco, Diane Lane, George Clooney, Hailee Steinfeld, Hudson Williams, Jason Bateman, Jennifer Garner, Joe Keery, Judd Apatow, Julia Roberts, Justin Hartley, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key, Kevin Bacon, Kevin Hart, Kyra Sedgwick, Lalisa Manobal, Luke Grimes, Macaulay Culkin, Marlon Wayans, Melissa McCarthy, Mila Kunis, Miley Cyrus, Minnie Driver, Orlando Bloom, Pamela Anderson, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Queen Latifah, Regina Hall, Sean Hayes, Snoop Dogg, Wanda Sykes, Will Arnett and Zoë Kravitz.

The evening always begins with a dazzling red carpet, when A-list guests arrive in their finest fashions. The Golden Globes tend to offer a more exciting spectacle in terms of style; it’s still a black tie event, but it’s not as buttoned-up as, say, the Academy Awards, which is why it’s one of our favorite red carpets of the entire year. Take a look at all the best, most fashionable moments from the 2026 Golden Globes red carpet.

  • Why Miss Pat Still Tours Doing Stand-up – Houston Press

    [ad_1]

Miss Pat explains it all as she returns to Houston for a weekend continuing at Houston Improv on Saturday, November 8.

‘Every hole I get,” the television comedian explains about her schedule, “ that’s for stand-up. Anytime I’m not doing something with TV, that’s stand-up and that’s because, and everybody know, but stand-up is what I own. TV is where I work. I have to keep my business going while I help them keep they business going.”

Having just finished the taping on the third season of BET courtroom series Miss Pat Settles It, the Georgia-born storyteller is back to the clubs to refine what will be her second stand-up special.

Her first hour long, the 2022 Netflix release Y’all Wannna Hear Something Crazy?  had some all-star comedy pedigree behind it, with the legendary comics Wanda Sykes as a producer and Robert Townshend as director.

“I went after Robert Townsend,” the comic says of her pursuing Townsend, director of (among others) Eddie Murphy’s generational concert special Raw. “I said I just need you to do my stand up special because whatever you do, you do it right. That was my very first one and I’m working on my second one now. I tell people to go watch my first one so they can get to know me better, because I am very personal in it.”

“I’m working on it right now,” Pat says of her next hour special, “We’re gonna tape it in February. I don’t know about a quick turnaround, but it is a turnaround. It’s getting closer to solidifying, but I am still working. It’ll be pretty close by the time I’m in Houston. “

While Stand-Up remains the Last Comic Standing alumni’s happy place, she has made quite the impression on BET and BET+, which has aired five seasons of her self-titled sitcom.

But don’t let that success fool you – Miss Pat still does things her own way. “The special and the TV shows… either way, you’re getting to know who I am. And I’m not big into personal feedback, I don’t listen to what nobody says about me. Some people say I’m fat, some people say I’m sexy! I just try to be me.”

    YouTube video

With her surprised court-room success, Miss Pat Settles It has locked in three seasons and counting of a show that both entertains fans of her material, as well as those who follow the world of reality TV. “Its like a family court and I always say: it’s a safe court where people want to go,”  she explains to new viewers. “They come in fighting or whatever, but by the end, I’m gonna settle it and I hope I can put this situation back together. So it’s a sprinkle of love, life, family and counseling – and it’s that black grandma who can cook kind of counseling, and all of that good stuff at the end.”

This year? “We had reality show hosts, and we had friends and family, so we did it in three type of segments. And the reality? They drive me crazy. That’s all I can tell ya: reality is something else, honey.”

Also unique – Miss Pat invites her own children to be part of the proceeding as she settles a family dispute before a national audience. “I’m getting the kids behind the scenes, in front of the camera. Whatever I can do to keep them from asking me for my money!”

It seems like her kids might be the greatest gift of all – especially when it comes to gathering new material. “Every day, sir, you gotta come to my house and see who I live with: they’re animals. Stuff just fall out they mouth and onto my paper.”

Between two shows, a full touring act, and dipping her toes into the world of film, Pat certainly keeps busy. “It is a lot for a 50-something year old person,” the comedians agrees, before adding: “But I just keep eating my Chic-Fil-A and keep going.”

Miss Pat’s performance is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 9 at Houston Improv, 7620 Katy Freeway. For more information, call 713-333-8800 or visit improvtx.com/houston. $173.54

  • Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. forms a political action committee

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. forms a political action committee

    [ad_1]

The first sorority established for Black women, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., has filed paperwork to form a political action committee (PAC). The new PAC, titled the 1908 PAC, will allow the organization to create the runway in order to raise money in support of federal candidates.

This announcement compliments AKA’s voter registration, education and mobilization campaigns. Harris recently spoke to crowds at the annual convention, Boulé, in Dallas in July. She was rocking the group’s signature salmon pink and apple green while championing the sorority’s impact on her career’s trajectory.

“You are such an incredible part of my journey and I love you guys,” she said, as members shouted “skee-wee,” the sorority’s signature call.

Four years ago at the Democratic National Convention, Harris extolled the virtues of AKA.

“Family is my beloved Alpha Kappa Alpha, our Divine Nine, and my HBCU brothers and sisters,” Harris, a member of AKA, said at the time.

The Vice President of the United States, Kamala D. Harris, waves to the crowd after arriving at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Saturday, December 16, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo: Itoro N. Umontuen/The Atlanta Voice)

After President Biden announced he would not run for reelection on July 21st, support quickly coalesced around Harris. Later in the day, a group of 44,000 women, largely made up of AKA members, raised $1.5 million for her campaign.

The sorority network includes prominent Democratic donors like Wanda Sykes, Ava DuVernay, who have expressed support for Harris.

The powerful organization raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and “Strolled to the Polls” for Harris in 2020. Currently, AKA is poised to mobilize and organize millions of Black voters in key swing states across the country.

Vice President Kamala Harris pledged at the sorority’s Alpha Chapter at Howard University in 1986. Harris is part of a membership class, ‘The 38 Jewels of Iridescent Splendor,’ a line that consisted of thirty-eight women. Thirty-eight years later, the organization is preparing to participate in what they refer to as, “a serious matter.”

In 2023, Alpha Kappa Alpha created their own credit union, “For Members Only.” FMO is the first Black-owned, women-led, sorority-based digital banking financial institution in the United States. The reason being was to create economic health and financial stability for Black women and women of color.

As far as the polls are concerned, they are reflective of the rising enthusiasm with the Harris campaign. Harris leads Michigan by two points, Pennsylvania by 1.1 points and Wisconsin by 1.8 points, according to the average of swing state polls by FiveThirtyEight. Former President Donald Trump leads in Arizona by less than half a point. He also leads in Georgia by half a point.

“The Daily Show” guest host Wanda Sykes on Monday mocked President Joe Biden over the developing discovery of yet more classified documents at his Delaware home.

The FBI is now “just decluttering Biden’s house for him,” she joked. “They’re like Marie Kondo going around his rooms like, ‘This list of spies does not spark joy.’”

Sykes also had the perfect explanation for former President Donald Trump’s weird eulogy for Diamond of MAGA duo Diamond and Silk.

Leslie Jones promises to be herself hosting ‘The Daily Show’

    [ad_1]

NEW YORK (AP) — Comedian Leslie Jones will be taking a temporary whirl as host of “The Daily Show” this week, and she says viewers can expect her trademark — some blunt, edgy humor.

“I’m not Jon Stewart. I’m not Trevor Noah, I’m Leslie Jones. So I’ll be bringing that vulnerable honesty,” the “Saturday Night Live” alum joked in an interview on the eve of her new gig.

Jones’ stand-in as host on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday on the Comedy Central topical show yields to four more upcoming weekly gigs by comedians: Wanda Sykes, D.L. Hughley, Chelsea Handler and Sarah Silverman.

Jones’ guest on Tuesday will be Morris Chestnut, starring in “The Best Man: The Final Chapters.” In a video promoting her guest host gig, correspondent Roy Wood Jr. is seen helping her practice identifying prominent people like Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Supreme Court Clarence Thomas.

While this week marks the first time Jones has appeared on “The Daily Show,” she’s no stranger to MC-ing, having guest-hosted “The Ellen Show” and taking charge of ABC’s game show revival “Supermarket Sweep.”

“No assignment to me is ever different. It’s always them asking for me. Pretty much what I come to deliver is me. So it’s not really too much different than when I used to do — updates at ‘SNL’ or doing standup, you know?” she said. “It’s all talking.”

Over the years, “The Daily Show” — first hosted by Craig Kilborn, then Jon Stewart and more recently Trevor Noah — has skewered the left and right by looking at the day’s headlines with a jaundiced view. Noah stepped down late last year, and no permanent successor has yet been named.

On “SNL,” three-time Emmy Award nominee Jones did impressions of Whoopi Goldberg, Serena Williams, Michelle Obama, Omarosa Manigault Newman and, most memorably, Donald Trump.

During her run from 2014 to 2019, she routinely hit on Colin Jost while appearing on his “Weekend Update” desk, calling him things like a “little salty oyster cracker,” and showing off her complicated and fictional relationship with fellow cast member Kyle Mooney.

Her viral tweets earned her an NBC correspondent job at the 2016 and 2018 Olympics. She hosted the BET Awards in 2017 and starred in the 2016 “Ghostbusters” remake.

Jones said she has been keeping up with daily events and personalities to ensure “The Daily Show” is still topical under her watch, but she’s also got stuff planned.

“We got already a lot of ideas wrapped up and what we want to do and what we want the show to look like,” she said. “Of course that changes with daily events. If something big happened, of course, we would have to change it for that. But, yeah, we got a lot of stuff that we already want to do.”

Asked if she’d be interested in inheriting the host’s chair on a permanent basis, Jones was non-committal. “I don’t really want to answer that,” she said.
