Four people were shot Monday night in the Walmart in Beavercreek, Ohio by a man who walked in and started firing, police in the Dayton suburb said. The victims were taken to area hospitals and their conditions weren’t known, police said.
According to police, the gunman died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and officers didn’t fire any shots.
His motive was unclear and his identity wasn’t released.
The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and the FBI were at the scene along with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and other local agencies.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and families impacted by this horrific tragedy,” police said.
Walmart said in a statement that, “We’re heartbroken by what’s happened at our Beavercreek, Ohio store. This remains a developing situation, and we’re working closely with investigators on the scene.”

Peaches, plums and nectarines distributed by HMC Farms and sold nationwide as recently as last week are being recalled due to an outbreak of listeria that has resulted in 11 illnesses, including one death and 10 hospitalizations, federal safety regulators said Monday.
“Investigators are working to determine if any additional fruit or products made with this fruit may be contaminated,” the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated in a food safety alert.
Kingsburg, California-based HMC Farms is recalling peaches, plums and nectarines sold between May 1 and November 15 of this year as well as as during the same period in 2022, the company said in a notice posted Friday by the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA found listeria in testing a sample of HMC Farms peaches in late October, the CDC said.
Sold around the U.S. by retailers including Walmart and Sam’s Clubs, the recalled fruit may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can cause serious and at times fatal infections.
As of Nov. 17, the people sickened in the listeria outbreak reside in seven states: California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan and Ohio, according to the CDC. One person died in California and another became sick while pregnant and had preterm labor, the agency noted.
Listeria infections can cause serious, and sometimes fatal, illness in young children, frail or elderly people, as well as others with weakened immune systems, according to the CDC. Healthy people may experience symptoms including high fever, severe headache and stomach pain. The organism can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths.

The recalled fruit was sold in 2-pound bags branded “HMC Farms” or “Signature Farms,” or as individual fruit that has a “USA-E-U” code and a number, as follows:
Yellow peach: 4044 or 4038
White peach: 4401
Yellow nectarine: 4036 or 4378
White nectarine: 3035
Red plum: 4042
Black plum: 4040
The recall does not include organically grown fruit, the company and CDC noted (See images of all of the recalled fruit products here).
Consumers should check their homes, including their freezers, for the recalled fruit and discard it, agency said. Anyone with questions can call the company at (844) 483-3867, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Roughly one in three young shoppers in the U.S. has admitted to giving themselves five-finger discounts at self-checkout counters, a new survey shows.
According to loan marketplace LendingTree, 31% of Gen-Z consumers have stolen items from self-checkout kiosks, compared to 15% of consumers of any age. Those figures come as businesses work to combat shoplifting, which some retailers have blamed for hurting their financial performance and even for store closures.
“Ultimately, retailers need to decide whether the self-checkout terminals are worth the risk,” LendingTree chief credit analyst Matt Schulz said in a statement. “That’s a question lots of retailers are likely wrestling with.”
LendingTree based its findings on a survey of 2,000 U.S. consumers between the ages of 18 and 77.
Although some respondents to the poll said they regretted having sticky fingers, 44% planned to continue stealing from self-checkout kiosks, while 37% said they would do so to save money on groceries or health care goods, according to the survey. Of those who had stolen at kiosks, only a thir said they had ever been caught, the data shows.
Retailers are generally reluctant to disclose information on the prevalence of theft, making it hard to gauge how common self-checkout theft is compared to other forms of stealing, Neil Saunders, a retail analyst at GlobalData Retail, told CBS MoneyWatch.
Theft data is “commercially sensitive information that [retailers are] under no obligation to reveal,” he said. “There is a fear that highlighting the issue may encourage more self-checkout theft.”
Still, losses resulting from the use of automated checkout stations appear to have spurred several major retailers to do away with the kiosks or beef up measures to detect thefts, according to Saunders.
Walmart removed self-checkout stations at some of its stores in New Mexico earlier this year after employees reported a rise in self-checkout thefts, Insider reported. Similarly, Wegmans scrapped its scan-as-you-shop self-checkout system last year because of excessive theft, Saunders said.
Meanwhile, Costco has said it plans to station more of its employees at self-checkout areas after acknowledging this year that it had suffered losses “in part…due to the rollout of self-checkout.”

Walmart topped third-quarter estimates and raised fiscal-year guidance. But investors were expecting more from the world’s largest retailer, sending the stock lower in premarket trading.

Warren Buffett’s disciples got a rare peek inside his personal stock portfolio this week.
The investor sold nearly $500 million of stocks over 20 years, ProPublica reported, citing IRS data.
Buffett’s private holdings have reportedly included Wells Fargo, Walmart, and Johnson & Johnson.
Warren Buffett’s followers got a rare glimpse inside his personal stock portfolio this week, revealing the famed investor and Berkshire Hathaway CEO has counted Wells Fargo, Walmart, and Johnson & Johnson among his private holdings over the years.
Buffett’s disciples also gained a sense of the scale of his personal bets. The 93-year-old centibillionaire sold at least $466 million of shares between 2000 and 2019, and disposed of government and corporate bonds worth far more during that period, ProPublica reported this week, citing leaked data from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
ProPublica’s story accused Buffett of breaking his own rules at Berkshire, which bar employees with inside knowledge of what the company is buying, selling – or planning to buy or sell – from trading those securities. Buffett’s also stated that when it comes to his personal investments, he avoids the securities on Berkshire’s radar or in its portfolio given the potential conflicts of interest.
Buffett reportedly sold $20 million of Wells Fargo stock in April 2009, even though he was publicly talking up the bank as one of its largest shareholders at the time, and Berkshire boosted its stake during the next quarter.
He sold $25 million of Walmart stock four months later, during a quarter when Berkshire bolstered its position.
Finally, he disposed of $35 million of Johnson & Johnson stock in October 2012, shortly before Berkshire revealed it had trimmed its stake in the same company.
ProPublica said Buffett didn’t respond to questions about the trades. Berkshire didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider.
“It kinda feels like Buffett wanted to get out of WFC and Walmart so Berkshire could have the shares and he wouldn’t be personally taking a seat at the shareholders table,” Mead said. “And I think he got out of J&J after BRK was done selling. I could be wrong. Hopefully he clears it up.”
Paying the bills
Regardless of any alleged impropriety, Buffett’s reported sales are noteworthy. They suggest that over a period of years, he personally owned at least $80 million worth of just three stocks.
It’s safe to say his portfolio is worth multiples of that, given Buffett is a long-term investor who doesn’t sell often, and the fact his bond disposals were much larger in dollar terms, according to ProPublica.
The fresh details of Buffett’s portfolio help explain how he pays his bills. After all, he only collects a $100,000 salary from Berkshire, and pays back half that amount to the company each year.
Moreover, he has never sold a share of his $100 billion-plus of Berkshire stock. Dividends and income from a portfolio that’s likely worth hundreds of millions of dollars, if not billions, probably help keep him afloat.
The presence of Wells Fargo, Walmart, and Johnson & Johnson in Buffett’s portfolio won’t surprise his acolytes.
Berkshire was a Wells Fargo shareholder for more than 30 years prior to 2022, and counted the lender among its top five positions for most of that time.
It first invested in Johnson & Johnson more than a decade ago, and still owned the pharmaceutical stock as of June.
Buffett’s company also owned Walmart for many years, and the mega-retailer ranked among its biggest bets at points.

By and large, Travis Kelce has something of the Midas touch. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has carved out an impressive career on the National Football League (NFL) gridiron. Away from Arrowhead Stadium, he co-hosts a successful podcast, has appeared on Saturday Night Live and, thanks to Taylor Swift, is pushing further into mainstream popular culture.
However, that doesn’t mean that everything he touches automatically turns to gold. And a relatively new business venture is an example of that reality.
Kelce has released a line of refrigerated barbeque entrees and, as you might expect, that hasn’t gone over well with Chiefs fans who know their high-quality meats. In fact, No. 87 has been getting raked over the coals online.
Let’s check it out.
Travis Kelce talks to the media during a press conference on Friday in Frankfurt, Germany. The tight end’s prepackaged meals earned a cold reception from Chiefs fans. Alex Grimm/Getty Images
Kelce’s Refrigerated Meals Receive a Cold Reception
When it comes to modern Kansas City Chiefs, Kelce is one of the most popular men around. That doesn’t give him a blank check, though.
As reported by local news station Fox4 KC, the tight end “is making his way into the barbeque industry with a new assortment of refrigerated entrees.” Those products, which are exclusively sold at Walmart under the “Travis Kelce’s Kitchen” brand, range from burnt ends with mac & cheese to sausage and meatball marinara with peppers and onions.
Given that Kansas City is known for its barbeque, though, those are the options that caught the attention of most Chiefs fans. And, for the most part, the reactions weren’t pretty.
“‘Walmart BBQ’…. I think you’ve already answered your own question, my friend,” Reddit user NoisePollutioner wrote Wednesday in a post on the Chiefs subreddit asking if anyone had tried the product.
“He maybe a great TE but im not trying frozen BBQ. I dont even trust the Gordon Ramsey frozen stuff hes now selling. Kinda shocked with as many shows and restaurants he owns he would sign off on selling crappy frozen food,” u/13mizzou added.
Elsewhere in the replies, user vVv-ThirdEye-vVv summed up much of the general sentiment, simply writing, “I love Travis, but I won’t do this.”
There were, however, some responses that viewed things through a wider lens.
“It’s not for us, Reddit user thegreatgiroux explained. “It’s for people to try ‘KC’ BBQ around the country. Might not be bad for them but it’s not really for KC natives lol.” For what it’s worth, that comment kicked off a discussion about misrepresenting Kansas City barbeque and KC Masterpiece sauce.
One user, siloxanesavior, even claimed to have tried the product, albeit not out of a Walmart refrigerator. “I had his Kelce’s Kitchen BBQ straight from the buffet table at the Kelce Car Jam VIP room and it was decent but nothing that competes with local bbq staples,” they wrote. “So even before it’s frozen and packaged and sold at Walmart it’s nothing to talk about.”
Newsweek reached out to Walmart for comment through their “Contact Media Relations” page.
Kelce’s Branding Effort Does Make Sense
While it’s easy to feel like Kelce’s packaged meals are a cynical attempt to cash in on his popularity, the move is rather logical. Ever since he’s been linked to Swift, the tight end’s stock has gone through the roof.
At the tail end of September, sales of Kelce’s jersey experienced a nearly 400 percent boost, CNN reported. There was also an increase in bets placed on the tight end, and NFL broadcasts couldn’t help making a variety of Swift-related puns whenever he stepped into the spotlight.
With that extra attention, bulking out your personal brand and selling pre-made meals seems like a savvy move. Kelce is becoming a household name; Kansas City is associated with barbeque. Combine those two, and you’ve got a recipe (pun not intended) to catch the eye of a curious consumer.

When it comes to savvy shopping, there’s one timeless rule: Dive into the clearance section. It might not be a hidden secret, but it’s easy to overlook when perusing your go-to online retailers. But let’s talk about Walmart’s clearance section — it’s an absolute goldmine waiting for you to explore. As we ventured into its depths, we stumbled upon a trove of incredible deals. Think furniture, home accessories, and cleaning tools, all with jaw-dropping discounts that could save you hundreds of dollars.

The Wii U was certainly not the most successful console Nintendo’s ever released, and while some may fondly remember it in 2023, at least one person actually bought a brand new Wii U from a store as if it was 2013 all over again.
Thank You, PS Plus, For Making My Backlog Even Bigger
Launched in 2012, the Wii U was Nintendo’s follow up to its massively popular Wii console. While the Wii would go on to become one of the best-selling video game consoles of all time, things went much differently for the Wii U and its tablet controller. The console never came close to selling as well as the Wii, and by 2017 Nintendo had moved on to the Switch, which would go on to outstrip the Wii U’s lifetime sales in its first year. But we can now add one more Wii U sale to its total tally.
This odd stat comes from Mat Piscatella, executive director at Circana (formerly NPD) who posted on Twitter (X? Whatever) that one (1) new Wii U was sold in the United States in September. According to Piscatella, this is the first time a new Wii U has been sold in the U.S. since May 2022. Which is also very strange, now that I think about it.For those unaware, Circana tracks “individual store level sales data” to keep tabs on what people are buying and selling. They then sell that data to folks who care. What that also means is that this Wii U wasn’t a used one at GameStop or something like that. This was a “new,” sealed Wii U console that was finally sold a decade after launch.
How did this happen? We don’t know specifically, but as folks who have worked retail at big chains have explained in the comments below Piscatella’s tweet, this isn’t that uncommon. Speaking to some folks I know who have worked at stores like Walmart and Target, old shit can get buried in the back. Or maybe a Wii U had been sitting for the last decade on a store shelf in, like, Georgia or Montana and finally, after a decade, someone decided to buy it and play some Super Mario 3D World. I hope they enjoy it!
Also, Piscatella added that three new PS Vitas were purchased in November 2021. I’m glad these forgotten consoles, sealed up in boxes and buried in storerooms or lost inside decrepit Best Buys, are finding homes. Brings a tear to my eye.
Federal regulators have issued an immediate recall of 5in1 rocker bassinets that were imported by Missouri-based Rev Grace Import Inc. over concerns they could cause suffocation and strangulation for infants. The bassinets were sold online through Walmart and other websites, regulators said.
