CBD has been touted as a gentle health aide a way to reduce stress, a way to sleep better and way to relax. Found everywhere from Amazon to Walmart, you can pick it up – especially when you feel the need for help. But do CBD gummies actually work?
CBD comes from cannabidiol, one of the two best-known active compounds derived from the marijuana plant. The other is tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, which is the substance that that produces the “high” from marijuana. It can also be derived from hemp.
CBD does not get you high, but it can your consciousness. You may feel mellow, experience less pain, and be more comfortable. Some CBD products do contain small amounts of THC.
Epidiolex is the only FDA-approved prescription CBD medicine, which among many things, means that it has a safety and efficacy profile that has been thoroughly evaluated in clinical trials. The rest of the CBD industry is going through growing pains there’s a mess going on with plenty of important guidelines, like dosage, purity and strength of the product. One of the many problems this disarray causes is the variability among CBD products. While some might provide noticeable effects, others might not even contain enough CBD to register in your system.

Yes, there is evidence CBD works for some conditions, but certainly not all the conditions it is being promoted for these days. According to different CBD gummy manufacturers, these products can provide relief for a wide range of ailments, including pain, anxiety, inflammation, insomnia and even depression. These statements have no scientific accuracy, however, since few tests have been conducted have been limited to CBD oil.
Anecdotally, plenty of people believe in the effect of CBD gummies, although the dosage still causes some issues. While some claim to feel positive effects after consuming two gummies, others might have to up the dosage until they feel something. With all the hype surrounding CBD gummies, this “something” might also be imagined; a placebo effect could be at work making you feel like you should be experiencing some sort of sensation because you just ingested cannabis.
Although few scientific tests have been conducted, CBD oil has been associated with plenty of positive side effects, and all of these gummies, if purchased correctly, contain a good amount of oil. As usual, if you’re interested in trying out a new cannabis product, go slow. Walmart said Friday that it is scaling back its advertising on X, the social media company formerly known as Twitter, because “we’ve found some other platforms better for reaching our customers.”
Walmart’s decision has been in the works for a while, according to a person familiar with the move. Yet it comes as X faces an advertiser exodus following billionaire owner Elon Musk’s support for an antisemitic post on the platform.
The retailer spends about $2.7 billion on advertising each year, according to MarketingDive. In an email to CBS MoneyWatch, X’s head of operations, Joe Benarroch, said Walmart still has a large presence on X. He added that the company stopped advertising on X in October, “so this is not a recent pausing.”
“Walmart has a wonderful community of more than a million people on X, and with a half a billion people on X, every year the platform experiences 15 billion impressions about the holidays alone with more than 50% of X users doing most or all of their shopping online,” Benarroch said.
Musk struck a defiant pose earlier this week at the New York Times’ Dealbook Summit, where he cursed out advertisers that had distanced themselves from X, telling them to “go f— yourself.” He also complained that companies are trying to “blackmail me with advertising” by cutting off their spending with the platform, and cautioned that the loss of big advertisers could “kill” X.
“And the whole world will know that those advertisers killed the company,” Musk added.
Dozens of advertisers — including players such as Apple, Coca Cola and Disney — have bailed on X since Musk tweeted that a post on the platform that claimed Jews fomented hatred against White people, echoing antisemitic stereotypes, was “the actual truth.”
Advertisers generally shy away from placing their brands and marketing messages next to controversial material, for fear that their image with consumers could get tarnished by incendiary content.
The loss of major advertisers could deprive X of up to $75 million in revenue, according to a New York Times report.
Musk said Wednesday his support of the antisemitic post was “one of the most foolish” he’d ever posted on X.
“I am quite sorry,” he said, adding “I should in retrospect not have replied to that particular post.”

CBD has been a hot, over the counter treatment for a variety of ailments. Sold at Walmart, Amazon, and other mainstream retailers, it is everywhere. Science has indicted it has a beneficial impact on pain, anxiety, and depression symptoms as well as overall wellbeing for patients with moderate to severe symptoms. But what if you suddenly stop? Does CBD oil cause withdrawals? Should you be concerned?
Most medicines with a psychoactive effect alter the brain’s chemistry, making it likely for them to produce symptoms of withdrawal. Although the word psychoactive isn’t generally associated with CBD, the compound does affect the brain, interacting with its cannabinoids in order to manage mood disorders, seizures and cognitive functioning.
Studies and research conducted on the compound are still be studied, with few exploring the long term effects of using the compound regularly. According to some experts, one of the most promising aspects of CBD is the fact it could help users cope with symptoms of withdrawal from other drugs.
One study found rats with cocaine and alcohol addiction were less likely to relapse when given CBD. “This was true even when the rats were placed in circumstances designed to increase their stress and anxiety levels — a known trigger for relapse in humans,” concludes the study, published in the journal Neuropsychopharmacology.
As for the withdrawal symptoms produced by CBD, there’s not enough information out there to make an educated guess or to know what the withdrawal symptoms would even look like.
Personal blogs indicate when users stop using CBD, the original symptoms treated return, prompting people to wonder if they’ll have to consume the oil for the rest of their lives. But these situations are highly dependent on the person and the ailment treated.
Data is clear, no matter how much CBD oil you ingest, there won’t be any physical or stereotypical symptoms of withdrawal.

A Pennsylvania woman’s “soon-to-be ex-husband” was arrested Sunday after he allegedly stabbed her multiple times in the leg as part of a failed kidnap and murder attempt, Montgomery County prosecutors announced.
Geoffrey Kay-Conway Sr., 52, was taken into custody on charges of attempted murder, attempted kidnapping and attempted rape after police found a note detailing his sinister plan, prosecutors said.
Geoffrey Kay-Conway Sr. allegedly attacked his estranged wife at the King of Prussia Walmart on North Gulph Road in Pennsylvania.
According to the statement, police responded to a call of a domestic assault at a Walmart in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, at around 10:45 a.m. on Sunday.
Prosecutors alleged Kay-Conway attacked his estranged wife, stabbing her multiple times in the leg while she was inside her parked vehicle before she managed to escape.
According toprosecutors, Kay-Conway’s wife was able to escape after bystanders intervened to help her. He was able to flee the scene before responding officers arrived but was apprehended in a nearby parking lot.
Police found several suspicious items while searching Kay-Conway, including a large metal pick and black zip ties in the shape of handcuffs.
Officers also found a black duffle bag believed to belong to Kay-Conway at a nearby pickup truck.
Inside the duffel bag, police found even more suspicious items including a black nonlethal PepperBall gun, three piercing tools ― one with his wife’s name written on it ― a blindfold, duct tape, more zip ties, knives, wire cutters, pliers and lubricant.
Police also discovered a court order which revealed Kay-Conway was arrested in October on charges of stalking but was released on a $5,000 bail.
According to prosecutors, at the bottom of the court order, Kay-Conway had written, “I Have 1.5 months to Kill that Bitch. Could have Killed her 17 times if i wanted. What a week system.”
Police also found a two-page note to his brother inside a sealed Manila envelope, labeled “read last,” which detailed his plan to kidnap his wife, then sexually assault her before murdering her.
“Well by now [Kay-Conway’s wife] and I are both dead,” Kay-Conway allegedly wrote in the note. “So there really is nothing to worry about. Listen tell everyone, there is nothing anybody could have done.”
According to the note, Kay-Conway said he had been watching his wife almost every day “to observe her habits,” and learn her schedule.
“I even tried to let her see me a couple of times, not sure if she did or not,” the note allegedly read. “Depending where she parks, some days are more ideal than others. If I cant do it on an ideal day, it will happen the weekend before Thanksgiving somewhere around town.”
Kay-Conway also wrote that he planned to kidnap his wife on a Saturday or Sunday morning, and if she screamed or tried to run away, he would shoot her in the face.
His note also allegedly included details that he thought of killing his wife every day since they separated and planned to rape her before killing her.
Investigators discovered that Kay-Conway had allegedly installed a tracking device in his wife’s car, allowing him to follow her to the parking lot where he attacked her.
According to prosecutors, the court had ordered a protective order against Kay-Conway on Oct. 5, prohibiting him from any contact with his wife. He violated the order weeks later on Oct. 20 when he allegedly stalked his wife and stopped to threaten her.
Kay-Conway is currently being held at Montgomery County Correctional Facility and was denied bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 11.
