Soodhu Kavvum Re-Release: Vijay Sethupathi’s black comedy to clash with Thalapathy Vijay’s Ghilli, Ajith’s Thunivu

Vijay Sethupathi is joining the big re-release clash day! Tamil film Soodhu Kavvum is planning its re-release on the upcoming Friday, February 20. It will join Thalapathy Vijay’s Ghilli and Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu at the box office for a major battle between three big South Indian film industry stars.

The 2013 release ended up as a monumental point in Vijay Sethupathi’s career, earning him praise and accolades alike. It also became a crucial release in Ashok Selvan and Ramesh Thilak’s filmographies. During its time of release, the film gathered an impressive Rs. 12 crore at the box office estimates, prompting a remake in Telugu called Gaddam Gang in 2015 and one in Urdu in 2018 named Chupan Chupai. It also gave rise to a sequel titled Soodhu Kavvum 2 in 2024, but it did not gain as much traction at the cinema.

Santhosh Narayanan composed the music for the film, Dinesh B Krishnan did the cinematography, and Leo John handled the editing, under the banner of Thirukumaran Entertainment with C V Kumar’s production.

The Nalan Kumarasamy directorial’s re-release was confirmed by makers Sakthi Film Factory with an announcement on its social media, with tickets priced at just Rs. 100. The original stars Sanchita Shetty, Karunakaran, Bobby Simha, Ramesh Thilak and Ashok Selvan, alongside Vijay Sethupathi in the main role, with Yog Japee, Aruldoss, M S Bhaskar and Radha Ravi, joining.

About Soodhu Kavvum

The film, starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, is a Tamil-language black comedy about Das, who ‘kednaps’ people with his own set of rules and gets entangled with a bunch of no-goods who end up becoming his assistants. The four cross paths with some influential figures and, in the greed to earn a lot of money, get involved in a big mess. He comes face-to-face with his ‘imaginary’ girlfriend, as his partners realize that she was very much real after all.

Who are Samyuktha Shan and Aniruda Srikkanth?

Samyuktha Shan is a popular actress and model who is widely recognized for her appearance in Bigg Boss Tamil 4. Over the years, she has appeared in several notable films, including the Thalapathy Vijay starrer Varisu.

The Vamshi Paidipally directorial featured Samyuktha as Vijay’s sister-in-law, paired opposite actor Shaam. She has also appeared in Tughlaq Durbar starring Vijay Sethupathi, My Dear Bhootham, Coffee with Kadhal, and more.

Her marriage to the former cricketer marks her second union, as she was previously married to businessman Karthik Shankar. Jawan 3rd Friday Box Office: Shah Rukh Khan starrer continues to remain choice in India; Netts Rs 6.75 crores

Shah Rukh Khan led Jawan, directed by Atlee Kumar and co-starring Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Deepika Padukone, Sanjay Dutt and others, remained the first choice at the Indian box office even on its third Friday, despite the release of the new Vicky Kaushal film The Great Indian Family, as it collected Rs 6.75 crores nett in Hindi and Rs 7.25 crores including regional dubs. The numbers are less than 10 percent down from Thursday, which goes to show the level to which the film has been accepted theatrically. Going by the advances for Saturday and Sunday, it is pretty obvious that the SRK-Atlee film will have yet another terrific weekend theatrically. As on its third Friday, Jawan has netted Rs 469 crores for its Hindi version and Rs 522 crores including dubbed versions, in India.

Jawan Remains The Most Preferred Indian Movie Choice For Its Third Consecutive Friday At The Box Office

Jawan will be crossing Pathaan‘s India nett total (Rs 531 crores nett) to emerge as the highest grossing Hindi origin film in India today, that is on its third Saturday. After the weekend, it will have collected around Rs 495 crores for its Hindi version and will trail only Baahubali 2, Pathaan and Gadar 2 to emerge as the highest grossing Indian film for the Hindi version. The superstar spoke about Ridhi’s character in the film. He said, “Ridhi Dogra, who is unfortunately playing my mother, but in the next film, we will work something out age-wise.”

Ridhi shared this video on Instagram and expressed her happiness. She was super excited to hear Shah Rukh Khan talking about his wish to work with her again.

On July 10, the makers of Jawan unveiled the highly anticipated prevue of the film starring Shah Rukh Khan. While much applause has been pouring in for the power-packed prevue, lots of fans have been lauding the film’s music too. And one integral part of the film’s discography has been singer Raja Kumari. The Bollywood superstar is gearing up for the release of Jawan, directed by Atlee. Ever since the film was announced, fans had been waiting with bated breaths about any updates of the film. There has been a lot of excitement, especially for the Prevue of Jawan, and much to fans’ delight, the makers have now announced the release date of Jawan Prevue. Looks like fans won’t have to wait much longer as the Prevue of Jawan is all set to release soon.

Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan Prevue is all set to release on July 10, Monday. The exciting update was announced by King Khan himself, with a social media post, recently. The superstar dropped the special Prevue date announcement video on his official handles on July 8, Saturday night. “Main punya hoon ya paap hoon?… Main bhi aap hoon… #JawanPrevueOn10July Jawan releasing worldwide on 7th September 2023, in Hindi, Tamil & Telugu,” SRK captioned his post.

Meanwhile, as revealed on the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) website, the Prevue of Jawan has a runtime of 2 minutes and 15 seconds. The Prevue has also received a U/A certificate. Jawan Prevue will be attached to the prints of Mission Impossible 7, which is slated to release in theatres on July 12.

Shah Rukh Khan, the Bollywood superstar is finally collaborating with a bunch of talents from the South Indian film industry. The Pathaan actor is playing the lead role in popular Tamil filmmaker Atlee‘s Bollywood directorial debut, Jawan. The highly anticipated project features Nayanthara, the lady superstar of South cinema, as the female lead. National award-winner Vijay Sethupathi is appearing as the lead antagonist in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer. Anirudh Ravichander, the popular musician is also foraying into B’town with the project.

Shah Rukh Khan heaps praise on his Jawan team members

During his Twitter interaction with fans on February 4, Saturday, Shah Rukh Khan spoke extensively about his Jawan team members, for the first time. Even though the Bollywood superstar has opened up about working with director Atlee in some of his early Twitter interactions, this is the first time he spoke about his co-stars from the film, Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi. King Khan, who is highly impressed with the lady superstar, especially mentioned her langauges skills.

“Hii sir, #nayantara mam ke saath #Jawan me kaam karke kaisa feel hua ? Any special thing about mam..,” asked a fan during the recent #AskSRK session. Shah Rukh Khan, who replied to the fan’s question, wrote: “She is very sweet. Speaks all languages so well….fantastic experience. Hope u all will like her in the film.”
