Tobias Jesso Jr. emerged a decade ago with Goon, a collection that Mark Richardson said showcased the Canadian-born singer-songwriter’s “knack for writing songs that you feel like you’ve heard before, even if you can’t quite pin down a precise antecedent.” Jesso, who was 29 years old at the time of his debut, then stopped releasing music of his own and began to work with some of the biggest names in music. He co-wrote Sia’s “Alive” and multiple songs on Adele’s 25, including the standout “When We Were Young.” And those were just his 2015 contributions.
Jesso continued his work as a writer and producer, collaborating with Adele (on 30), Florence and the Machine, Haim, FKA twigs, Orville Peck, Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus, Dua Lipa, Bon Iver, Justin Bieber, Dijon, Rosalía, and many others. He also won the Grammy Award for Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical, in its first year of existence, and he’ll look to win it again in 2026.
Now, just as unassumingly as he arrived, Jesso has announced his second studio album. The new album is called Shine (stylized as: s h i n e), and it is out on November 21 via R&R. Jesso, who is now 40 years old, produced Shine, and the album was mixed by Shawn Everett. Leading the eight-track effort is “I Love You,” which comes with a music video directed by Christopher Ripley and starring Dakota Johnson and Riley Keough. Watch it below.
According to a press release, Shine is about Jesso, as well as “his mom, his son, a breakup, and his life at this moment in time, with some help from Danielle Haim, Eli Teplin, Julian Bunetta, Justin Vernon, Rosie Hamilton, Tommy King, and a psychic.” He wrote the album during a six-week sabbatical and recorded it live on the piano, alone at his house.

AT THIS POINT, WE HAVEN’T HEARD ANYTHING FROM THE ORLANDO FIRE DEPARTMENT ABOUT WHAT MIGHT HAVE CAUSED THIS. OF COURSE, WE KNOW IT’S BEEN COLD WEATHER LATELY, SO THERE’S ALWAYS A POSSIBILITY THAT THERE WAS A SPACE HEATER OR SOME OTHER KIND OF HEATING MECHANISM USED TO TRY TO KEEP PEOPLE WARM IN THEIR APARTMENT. BUT AGAIN, NO WORD FROM ORLANDO FIRE DEPARTMENT YET ABOUT WHAT DID CAUSE THIS. WE DO KNOW THEY DO HAVE THEIR INVESTIGATORS HERE AT THE SCENE AT THIS POINT, INVESTIGATING WHAT DID SPARK THAT FIRE AT THIS APARTMENT BUILDING. BUT AGAIN, JUST ONE MORE TIME. THE GOOD NEWS IS NO WORD OF ANY SERIOUS INJURIES AFTER THIS FIRE AT THIS APARTMENT BUILDING EARLY THIS MORNING COV

Robyn is back. Her first single in seven years, “Dopamine,” is out now, along with a performance video directed by Marili Andre. Watch it below.
Robyn explained the chemical inspirations behind “Dopamine” in a press release. “Everyone has a phone where they see their heart rate, and we’re learning how to decode our emotions through the hormones and chemical substances in our bodies,” she said. “It’s almost like we don’t even accept that we’re human anymore, like we’re trying to shoot ourselves out of it and explain every single thing—which I think is great, but that’s also why the world is shit, this idea that you can figure out and win life or something. The doubleness of ‘Dopamine’ is having an emotion that is super real, super strong, intense, enjoyable or painful, and at the same time knowing that this is just a biological process in my body—and then not to choose religion or science. To just accept that they’re there together and to be able to go in between.”
Teased for the past severalweeks, Robyn’s comeback reunites her with longtime collaborator Klas Åhlund, whose work with the Swedish pop star includes four songs on her last album, 2018’s Honey. Åhlund was the first to tease the new music, saying on the podcast Nordmark Pod, in September, “Just finished a new Robyn album that’s coming out. Super exciting! Very proud of it.”
Dry Cleaning have shared the second single from Secret Love, their upcoming album due out January 9 via 4AD. The London post-punk band returns with “Cruise Ship Designer” and its accompanying music video, directed by Cuán Roche. In the clip, bassist Lewis Maynard performs a dance routine—specifically choreographed for the song by Bullyache—in sparkly leggings in front of a dark curtain. Watch the new video below.
Singer Florence Shaw explained the backstory of their track in a statement: “The song is about a cruise ship and hotel designer who’s skilled and paid well, but who doesn’t believe his role has real worth,” she said. “He tries to enjoy it, and invests himself in meeting the challenges of the job.”
Secret Love is Dry Cleaning’s third studio album, following 2023’s Stumpwork. They worked on the 11-track LP at Jeff Tweedy’s Chicago studio, the Loft; at Dublin’s Sonic Studios with Gilla Band’s Alan Duggan and Daniel Fox; and eventually at France’s remote Black Box where Le Bon recorded their album.
Dry Cleaning wrapped up their recent tour, but they still have plenty of live shows on the books for next year, beginning with Rockaway Beach Festival in England on January 3. From there, Dry Cleaning’s 2026 tour heads to the United States, Canada, and many major cities in Europe.

I’m a self-proclaimed pie fanatic and this easy, All Butter Pie Crust is my absolute favorite pie crust recipe! It’s super flaky, easy to make, and comes together quickly!
I’m here to teach you how to make a homemade pie crust that will be so easy, so delicious, and so flaky without any stress! Making a pie crust from scratch is one of the most intimidating recipes that a home baker will encounter. Yeast bread is almost equal, and I cannot only teach you how to make both, but I can make you an expert!
Your pie crust texture is 100% dependent on the fat that you choose to use. I’ve experimented with it all, and I’ve got a suggestion for you.
If you’re a beginner and you’ve already struggled with making a homemade pie crust recipe, let’s take a step back and make my mom’s fail-proof pie crust recipe. It is so easy and the addition of egg and vinegar along with using cold shortening makes for a really easy pie crust recipe.
However, if you’re really looking for the best pie crust recipe that’s not difficult and really brings flavor and texture, well that’s an all butter pie crust.
Ingredients in an All Butter Pie Crust
Making a flaky pie crust is one of the most basic recipes with perfectly basic ingredients:
Flour: Forms the structure of the crust — it provides the gluten network that holds everything together while still allowing for a tender, flaky texture.
Salt: Enhances flavor and balances the richness of the butter.
Butter: The star of the crust! Cold butter creates steam pockets as it melts during baking, giving you that tender, flaky texture and rich buttery flavor.
Ice Water: Brings the dough together without activating too much gluten. The cold temperature keeps the butter from melting before baking, which helps maintain flakiness.
Sugar: I’ve found it does not sweeten the crust but does create a flakier, more golden crust.
**Keep reading to find out why I made this an all butter pie crust recipe!
How to Pick the Best Source of Fat for Your Pie Crust
There are a few different fats that you can use for a pie crust. I’ve used lard a few times, but honestly I don’t find it to be worth it. Here’s a breakdown of each fat and why I’ve settled on butter.
Using Lard in Pie Crust
Pros: Lard produces an extremely crisp, flaky crust. Its melting point is higher than butter, so it doesn’t soften as quickly while you handle it so you can really bust out a good crust.
Cons: I don’t like lard because it’s too darn hard to find a good quality lard. And your pie can 100% taste like whatever lard you use. No thanks.
Using Shortening in Pie Crust
I have absolutely nothing against shortening. It’s cheaper to buy than butter, so there’s that going for us. Sometimes I use both shortening and butter so that I can get in the flavor but still end up with a decorative crust.
Pros: Shortening has a higher melting point than any other fat, so it’s easy to cut into pie dough and roll out. It’s also awesome when making any kind of decorative pie crust, because doughs made with shortening hold their shape the best during baking.
Cons: The flavor is lacking with a shortening crust.
Using Butter in Pie Crust
Ahhhhh, the best ingredient in all the world. I love the flavor, I love the texture of the flaky crust and I love that I always have butter on hand.
Pros: Butter has the best flavor and it forms light, flaky layers in pie crust. This comes in part from the water content of butter, which evaporates as the pie bakes and turns to steam, separating and puffing up the layers in dough. It’s a heavenly thing.
Cons: Butter can be a bit harder to work with than shortening because it warms and melts so quickly. If your dough feels too soft? Chill it for 15 minutes. Too hard? Allow it to sit on the counter for a few minutes.
How to Make a Pie Crust From Scratch (with Photos!)
Step 1: Make sure your fat is in the refrigerator keeping chilled. Place the flour, salt and sugar in a large bowl and mix to combine.
Step 2: Quickly cut the cold butter into large chunks and add to the flour. Cut in using a pastry blender depending on what you’ve decided on above.
Step 3: Fill your measuring cup with ice and water to keep it extra cold and create a well in the center of the flour and quickly add using tablespoons and stirring together with a fork until the mixture is just starting to come together but is still very shaggy and floury.
Step 4: Place plastic wrap on the counter and dump the dough and flour bits out. Gather into a ball as best you can and wrap tightly in the plastic.
Step 5: Place in the fridge to chill again for a few minutes before using.
Tip: Do the squeeze test and if it stays in your hand the pie crust is ready even though it looks shaggy in the bowl. Also, when you form it into disks, a marble slab can help keep it cool.
Wrapping the pie dough in plastic wrap keeps the dough from drying out and allows it to chill in the fridge so that the butter isn’t melting in the crust.
Picking the Best Pie Crust for Your Pie
First, tell me what kind of filling you’re going to be making. Ahhhh, you didn’t think I’d be asking that, right? The way you make your pie crust is determined by the filling. Here’s why:
When to Make a Flaky Pie Crust
Flaky crusts are best for fruit pies, like our razzleberry pie. You want that tender, lofty flake when paired with a fruit. Flaky crusts are made by leaving the fat in larger pieces in the crust – the size of walnut halves or slightly smaller.
Why? Larger pieces of fat begin to evaporate moisture when the pie goes into the oven and the evaporation creates steam which forms air pockets in the crust, creating a flaky final texture
When to Make a Mealy Pie Crust
Mealy Crusts are best for cream or custard pies, like our French silk pie, because it won’t get soggy as the pie rests. Mealy crusts are made by mixing the butter into smaller pieces — pea-sized or smaller. Less evaporation occurs, making a tighter, firmer crust.
Here’s a great example. When making a chicken pot pie crust you would choose which kind of pie crust?
It’s not a fruit, but it’s not a custard either…
You’re right, still go with a more mealy crust because you want that sauce inside to not destroy the crust! Make sense?
Pie Crust FAQs
Should I Use an Egg Wash on This Pie Crust?
Why use an egg wash for pie crust and is it necessary? I think so! You cannot achieve that beautiful, golden, shiny crust without an egg wash.
Why is Pie Crust Too Crumbly to Roll Out?
If the crust is crumbly and hard to roll, it is too dry. Add a few sprinkles of cold water, until the dough is evenly moist. Do not handle the dough too much.
Why Does Pie Crust Shrink?
Pie crust shrinks when the dough hasn’t been “rested” long enough. Resting time allows the gluten to relax, and will play a big role in preventing shrinking.
Can You Freeze Pie Crust to be Used Later?
Yes, pie dough freezes very well. Wrap the unbaked pie crust tightly with heavy-duty aluminum foil or plastic freezer wrap, or place in a freezer bag and seal tightly. Thaw in the fridge for 2 hours before baking.
How to Crimp Pie Edges
I learned how to crimp a pie crust edge when I was growing up and because of that I haven’t really thought much of it until I needed to teach my own daughters.
To crimp the edges: Using the index knuckle or finger of one hand, push the inner edge out while pinching the outer edge in with the thumb and index finger of the other hand.
How to Blind Bake and Avoid a Soggy Pie Crust
The best ways to avoid a soggy pie crust are to blind bake with both a docking and weights method followed by an egg wash and further baking. For all the details on making a blind-bake pie crust, check out or lemon meringue pie recipe.
Tips for Making the BEST Pie Crust
It’s crucial that all of your ingredients are super cold! Use ice water and butter that was taken straight from the fridge, otherwise your pie crust won’t turn out flaky!
Once the ingredients have all been combined, stir just until the pie dough comes together. Do NOT overwork the dough, otherwise you’ll wind up with a dense pie crust.
I often move my dough into the fridge after cutting in the butter and again once everything is combined just to keep it chilled.
Place the all butter pie crust into the freezer for a few minutes before baking to avoid shrinking.
Essential Pie Baking Tools
Whether or not you’re a pie fanatic you’re going to want these few essentials to ensure your pie turns out.
Pastry Blender: I’m a big fan of hand cutting in the fat over a food processor which can over work the dough. Look for one with a good handle and strong cutters. I prefer this OXOversion.
Silicone Baking Mat:It’s large, you don’t need extra flour which will dry out the crust and it’s got sizes on it so no ruler needed to roll out the perfect sized crust.
Pastry Cutter: Making a lattice pie or just want a fancier edge? It’s all about this one simple tool and bonus, this one is double sided.
The BEST Pie Dish: The gold in this pie dish will promote even baking without dark edges!
Pastry Brush: To make a gorgeous crust you need an egg wash and this is the pastry brush I prefer.
Pie Stamps: This is NOT essential but if the top crust makes you nervous you can stamp out cute shapes and bam, it’s beautiful!
Pie Weights: Ditch the dried beans and buy reusable pie weights. They are a must for a blind pastry crust.
You’re never going to need another pie crust recipe again! This one is so buttery and flaky and perfect! I would almost just eat the crust plain, but why would I do that when I fill it with even more deliciousness?!

My peanut butter blossoms are everyone’s classic holiday cookie in bar form! Our kids love that they’re both fun and easy to make! These chewy peanut butter cookie bars are studded with Hershey kisses which make everyone so happy.
My favorite part is that they are easier than cookies; no rolling needed, just slice into bars and serve! Bonus, this recipe includes a how-to video!
Our son was begging for us to make “those Hershey kiss cookies” but I had been running around all day and though it may sound silly, the thought of rolling out every single cookie sounded exhausting; so I made them all in a pan and they turned out adorably delicious!!
Ingredients for Peanut Butter Blossom Cookie Bars
Peanut Butter: that classic nutty flavor and creamy richness we all love.
Unsalted Butter: keeps the bars soft and melt-in-your-mouth.
Sugar and Brown Sugar: sweetness plus a little caramel depth for chewiness.
Vanilla: ties all the flavors together.
Egg and Egg Yolk: hold everything together while adding tenderness.
Flour: gives the bars structure so they bake up just right.
Baking Soda and Baking Powder: the lift that keeps them light instead of dense.
Cornstarch: the secret to that soft, chewy bite.
Salt: just enough to balance the sweetness.
Hershey’s Kisses: the signature chocolate topper that makes them taste (and look!) like the classic blossom cookies we all grew up with.
How to Make Peanut Butter Blossom Bars
Prep: Preheat the oven and grease a 9×13 baking dish then line with parchment paper and grease it again.
Wet Ingredients: Beat together all the wet ingredients in a stand mixer.
Dry Ingredients: Mix together all the dry ingredients in a separate bowl.
Combine: Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
Bake: Press the dough into the prepared baking dish, sprinkle with sugar and bake for 20-22 minutes.
Kisses: Unwrap the Hershey’s Kisses and as soon as the bars are done baking, pull them out and top with the kisses.
Cool: Let the peanut butter bars cool completely and then cut into bars so that a Hershey Kiss is in the center of each bar.
Fun Variation
If you want to try another fun twist, use mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups instead of the Hershey’s Kisses. You double down on the peanut butter while still getting the chocolate! My family loves both!
Storage Tips
Leftover peanut butter chocolate dessert bars should be stored in an airtight container. They can be stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator depending on how you like to eat them. They will keep for 4-5 days.
These also freeze extremely well. Let them cool completely so that the Hershey’s Kisses are solid again. Layer in a ziploc bag or freezer safe container separating layers with parchment paper. They will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.
FAQ
Can I Use Natural Peanut Butter?
No, I don’t recommend using natural peanut butter. You want the extra sugar and little bit of salt that is in processed peanut butter for these bars.
Do I add the Kisses before or after baking?
You will want to add the Kisses after baking. If you add them before, they will completely melt and lose their shape. You’ll add them as soon as you pull the baked bars out of the oven.
Can I double this recipe for a cookie sheet?
No, unfortunately this won’t work. If you need more bars, then double the recipe and split the dough between two 9×13 baking dishes. Bake as written in the recipe card.
How do I keep cookie bars soft?
I have a few tricks for keeping these cookie bars soft. First, make sure the butter is softened so that you don’t have to overmix to get everything incorporated. Second, don’t skip the cornstarch. It really does wonders for keeping the bars tender. Lastly, Don’t over bake the bars! I start checking them a few minutes early even and as soon as a toothpick comes out of the middle with just a few crumbs, pull them out!
These Peanut Butter Blossom Bars are everything you love about the classic cookie—soft, chewy peanut butter layers topped with melty Hershey’s Kisses—all baked into an easy bar dessert! Perfect for family gatherings, holiday trays, or just because you love peanut butter and chocolate.

Christy Martin is a name etched in boxing history — a pioneer whose fists broke barriers long before women’s combat sports became mainstream. For those of us who have followed the sweet science, her name was impossible to miss. Even if you didn’t watch her fights, you knew of her. Christy Martin wasn’t just a boxer; she was a force of nature. Before there was a Ronda Rousey, there was Christy Martin — the “Coal Miner’s Daughter” who brought women’s boxing out of the shadows and into the spotlight.
Now, her story hits the big screen with Christy, starring Sydney Sweeney as the trailblazing fighter and Ben Foster as her trainer and husband, Jim Martin. Directed with grit and compassion, the film doesn’t just chronicle a career — it charts survival. Sweeney, who’s had a stellar run over the last few years (including a standout turn in Ron Howard’s Eden earlier this year), transforms completely in Christy. Her portrayal of Martin is visceral, capturing not only the fighter’s physical tenacity but her unimaginable resilience outside the ring.
When I spoke with Christy Salters (now going by her maiden name) herself, she reflected on the experience of seeing her life retold through cinema. “God has blessed me,” she said. “I made a deal with God from my hospital bed — if you’ll let me live through this attack, I’ll help at least one person before I die. And then, being the boxer that I am, the arrogant me kicked in and said, no, I want to help one person every day. And that’s what this movie’s going to do.”
That spirit of survival is exactly what drives the film. Christy’s story isn’t just about the punches she threw — it’s about the ones she took and came back from. She was a closeted gay woman in a hyper-masculine sport, trapped in an abusive marriage with her trainer, who eventually attempted to murder her. It’s a story that could easily veer into melodrama, but here it’s handled with honesty and empathy, anchored by Sweeney’s astonishing performance.
“Christy has inspired me since day one,” Sweeney told me. “I’ve taken a little bit of Christy’s strength with me — I’m Christy Strong now. I’ve learned to stand up for myself more, and I want to have her by my side forever. She’s incredible.” That connection between the two women bleeds through every frame. Salters joked that she now feels like Sweeney’s protective coach, texting her advice and “fighting a few fights” on her behalf. “You just don’t know,” Salters laughed. “I send her text messages like, ‘No, no, no, this doesn’t work.’”
Inside the ring, Sweeney doesn’t act like a fighter — she is one. The physicality is authentic and full contact. “We actually fought,” Sweeney said. “All of those scenes you see in the movie — we’re connecting. There were bloody noses, I got a concussion, I was icing my face every day. We went full force at each other.”
Ben Foster, meanwhile, gives a chilling, understated performance as Jim Martin, whose control and quiet cruelty permeate the story. “You just try to be in service of the complications of a twenty-year relationship,” Foster told me. “Christy’s a comet — and you have to go through the fire to be a comet. Those silences, that tension, those are the kinds of relationships that happen every day all over the world.” His presence is terrifying not because he explodes, but because he simmers.
Sweeney’s devotion to authenticity extends far beyond mimicry. She told me Salters was on set often, guiding the process and lending truth to every scene. “I loved having her around,” Sweeney said. “I didn’t want to Hollywood-ize her life in any way. We wanted it to be as truthful and grounded as possible.” That choice pays off — nothing here feels exaggerated. Every bruise, every scar, every hesitation feels earned.
Sweeney’s star power has been undeniable for years, but here, she strips away every trace of glamour. She channels the boxer’s grit, her pain, and her faith in survival with unflinching honesty. “Christy said that she hopes this movie saves lives,” Sweeney told me. “And I really think that it will. I hope it opens the door for others who might be in similar situations to see they have the strength to get out.”
Christy follows the familiar rhythm of the biopic — the rise, the fall, and the redemption — but in this case, that’s exactly what makes it work. The structure doesn’t feel like formula; it feels like faith. You want to see the story unfold as it really happened: the ascent from obscurity to national stardom, the spiral into darkness, and the painful, hard-won climb toward peace. The beats may be recognizable, but the emotion is not manufactured. Every victory feels earned because every loss feels real.
What separates Christy from so many sports dramas is its refusal to treat pain as spectacle. The film doesn’t glamorize violence or linger on trauma; it reframes them as catalysts for empathy. Every bruise, every scar, every silent stare becomes part of a larger portrait — not of a victim, but of a survivor. You don’t leave the theater feeling broken by what you’ve seen; you leave reminded of how strong the human spirit can be when it has no choice but to fight.
At its core, this is a film about endurance, identity, and the will to live. It’s about reclaiming your own story before someone else writes it for you. Sweeney gives the performance of her career, shedding every trace of celebrity and embodying a woman who refused to stay down. Her transformation is total — physical, emotional, and spiritual. And beside her, the real Christy (Martin) Salters stands as living proof of what it means to survive the unimaginable and still find purpose. Together, they have turned tragedy into triumph.
This film isn’t just a contender — it’s a champion. It lands punches not through force, but through truth. Expect Christy to become a centerpiece of awards-season conversation and a fixture on end-of-year best-of lists. Both Sweeney and Salters should be profoundly proud — individually and collectively — for bringing to the screen a story that reminds us that survival itself is the greatest victory of all.

Canon just barged into the mid-range full-frame hybrid camera arena with a new entry. The 32.5MP EOS R6 III is a dramatic improvement over the EOS R6 II thanks to the higher resolution, faster shooting speeds and better video specs. However, it comes at a relatively high price and lacks a stacked or partially stacked sensor, unlike other cameras in this category.
The new 32.5MP sensor provides a big boost in resolution compared to the R6 II’s 24MP chip. At the same time, the R6 III offers higher shooting speeds of 40 fps in burst mode with the electronic shutter, or 12 fps with the mechanical or first-curtain shutter. It also supports 20 frames (a half second) of pre-shooting so you won’t miss key moments for wildlife or sports shooting.
Canon
The R6 III uses Canon’s fast and dependable Dual Pixel AF system and comes with the company’s latest AI tracking algorithms. It can operate in fairly dim conditions down to -6 EV and should be more responsive with Canon’s latest Digic X processor, pending our review. It offers subject tracking for people, animals and vehicles, along with an Auto mode that will pick one of those automatically. It also borrowed the “Register People Priority” feature from the R5 II, which lets you keep focus locked on specific subjects that you’ve previously memorized.
The biggest update for the R6 III, though, is with video. Thanks to the higher resolution sensor, it can now capture up to 7K 60 fps RAW light video, 7K 30 fps “open gate” video and 4K at up to 120 fps, all with Canon’s C-Log2 and C-Log3 on tap. There’s a dizzying array of other video formats available (12 pages worth in the specs), with HEVC S, AVC-S, RAW, RAW Light and others, at resolutions up to 7K. All the AF subject detection features are available (vehicles, animals and people), and Canon is typically among the best for video AF in terms of speed and accuracy.
Canon
Nobody expects any radical design changes in a Canon camera (the company tried that with the EOS R and it really didn’t work), so the R6 III kept the last model’s tried and true form factor. That includes two adjustment dials on the top and one on the rear, along with a joystick, photo/video selector, mode dial and a good assortment of programmable buttons.
The rear display flips out as you’d expect for vlogging, but it doesn’t tilt like Panasonic’s S1 II — so it may obstruct the mic or headphone jacks, and isn’t as useful for low-angle photo shooting. The viewfinder has 3.69 million dots of resolution as before, the same as Sony’s A7 IV but less than Panasonic’s slightly more expensive Lumix S1 II. One big change is the addition of a CFexpress card slot that allows RAW video capture and faster burst speeds, along with an SD UHS II slot. The battery is the same as the one for EOS R5 II and allows up to 390 shots (CIPA rating) with the viewfinder enabled.
Canon
Other features include waveform monitoring that will be much appreciated by pros, plus new focus speed algorithms borrowed from Canon’s cinema cameras that offer “natural, professional” behavior, the company wrote. Inputs include 3.5mm mic and headphone jacks, along with high-speed USB-C and a full-sized HDMI port. In-body stabilization has been boosted slight from 8 to 8.5 stops, matching the latest Panasonic models.
Along with the EOS R6 III, Canon introduced some interesting new glass. The RF45mm F1.2 STM lens brings very high speeds and shallow depth of field to a much smaller and lighter .76 pound (346 gram) form factor — less than half the weight of Canon’s RF 50mm f/1.2L USM lens. It’s also shockingly cheap for an f/1.2 lens at $470.
The Canon EOS R6 III arrives later this month for $2,799 (body only) or $4,049 with the RF24-105 F4 L IS USM lens. That’s a bit more than the Nikon’s $2,500 Z6 III, which has a partially stacked but lower-resolution 24MP sensor. Panasonic’s S1 II also has a partially stacked 24MP but can shoot at up to 70 fps and costs $3,200. Finally, Sony’s A7 IV has a similar 33MP sensor but lacks the RAW video features of the R6 III.
An Orange County park was temporarily shut down Tuesday after two people reported mountain lion sightings the day before.
In one of the incidents, a pair of cyclists filmed a mountain lion following them along a cliffside trail, behavior that wildlife officials described as unusual.
Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park will be closed until further notice “out of an abundance of caution,” OC Parks said in a statement.
Parks staff are working with researchers from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and biologists at UC Davis’ Wildlife Health Center to better understand the mountain lion’s behavior, Danielle Kennedy, public information officer with OC Parks, said in an email. They plan to place cameras around the park to track the animal’s activity and look for evidence such as fresh tracks and scat, she said.
UC Davis biologists are also reviewing the video provided by one of the bikers, who reported the encounter to authorities, Kennedy said.
The video posted to Facebook on Monday shows the mountain lion emerging from the brush to follow the cyclists along the trail, which was flanked by a steep hill on one side and a steep drop-off on the other. The cougar continues advancing as the cyclists shout for it to get back. At one point, it pauses and watches them back away, then seemingly charges, jumping to the side of the trail just before it reaches them. ABC7 first reported on the video.
“This is super out-of-the-ordinary behavior,” said Cort Klopping, a Fish and Wildlife spokesperson. Pumas typically avoid people — to the point where a person is a thousand times more likely to be struck by lighting than attacked by a mountain lion, he said.
It’s unclear why the animal was so interested in the cyclists, Kennedy said. Some online commenters of the video speculated it was a mother attempting to escort the bicyclists away from her cubs. In February, researchers collared a female mountain lion in Orange County that had offspring at the time, Kennedy said. UC Davis biologists have confirmed this collared female was in Whiting Ranch on Monday, but it wasn’t clear whether she still had cubs with her, and the mountain lion captured on the video was not collared and was unknown to the biologists, Kennedy said.
Based on the video, UC Davis biologists believe the mountain lion — a juvenile of an undetermined gender — was displaying behavior related to curiosity, rather than acting defensively, Kennedy said. It is unclear whether the same mountain lion was involved in both sightings, she said.
Lindsay Velez, who lives in nearby Rancho Santa Margarita, said she ran into the two mountain bikers Monday as they exited the trail, which she was preparing to hike up with her 12-year-old daughter. They showed her the video and warned her away, she said.
Velez said she’s aware that mountain lions frequent the area: “I carry bear spray with me everywhere, and not for bears.” But it seems like there’s been an uptick of activity in the last week, she said, adding that a friend of hers reported seeing a mountain lion in the backyard of her home not far from Whiting Ranch the same night.
With its steep hillside and dense brush, the park in the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains has a history of mountain lion activity. There have been three mountain lion attacks there since 2004, Kennedy said, including one that resulted in the death of Mark Reynolds, 35, who was mauled when he crouched down on a trail to fix his bicycle chain.
Still, Reynolds’ death was just the sixth on record in California, according to a Times report in its aftermath. Since then, one more death has been recorded — that of Taylen Robert Claude Brooks, 21, who was killed by a mountain lion while he was searching for deer antlers in northern El Dorado County last March.
Those who encounter a mountain lion should take care not to turn their back on it and should make themselves seem as large as possible by extending their arms and making a lot of noise, Klopping said. They should back away slowly, rather than run, and take care not to crouch or bend over, he said.
Pets should be kept on-leash so they don’t approach the animal, and small children should be held close, ideally up on an adult’s shoulders, he said. People should also make sure the animal has a clear escape route, he said.
People can reduce the risks of such encounters in areas prone to sightings by refraining from biking or jogging at dawn, dusk or nighttime, and it’s best to partake in those activities in groups, Klopping said.

Ingredients for No Bake Churro Snack Mix
All you need is a box of Honeycomb cereal, cinnamon sugar and a few ingredients to make a simple caramel. Here is everything you’ll need…
Honeycomb Cereal: subtle sweetness with loads of surface area for the cinnamon sugar to cling to
Light Brown Sugar: adds sweetness and caramel-y flavor
Unsalted Butter: combines with the brown sugar to make the caramel coating for the cereal
Light Corn Syrup: helps make the caramel smooth and glossy
Vanilla: adds flavor
Baking Soda: helps the caramel be soft and smooth
Cinnamon Sugar: adds that signature churro flavor and texture
The measurements and details for each ingredient can be found in the recipe at the end of the post.
How to Make Churro Honeycomb Snack Mix
Snack recipes should be simple, and this churro snack mix couldn’t be easier! We will make a simple caramel and then toss everything together. Here are the steps…
Prep: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and pour the cereal into a large bowl.
Make the Caramel: Add the brown sugar, butter and corn syrup to a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until the mixture comes to a boil, then let it bowl for a full minute. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla and baking soda.
Combine: Pour the caramel over the cereal and toss to combine.
Make the Cinnamon Sugar: Sift the sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl then sprinkle it over the cereal and toss to coat.
Cool: Transfer the cereal mixture to the prepared baking sheet and allow it to cool completely. Break the pieces up until bite-sized pieces. Store in an airtight container.
OPTIONAL: If you want, you can throw the baking sheet into the oven preheated to 350 degrees F and bake for 4 minutes. Toss the cereal and then bake for another 4 minutes. It will make the caramel a little crispier. I made it this way the first few times I made this recipe and then accidentally forgot to bake it one time and actually preferred it a little softer. It’s totally up to you!
The pictures below show the steps for this recipe. Scroll down to the recipe card for all the details.
What is the Baking Soda For?
Baking soda may seem like an odd ingredient in the caramel, but it helps the caramel be more aerated. It helps the sugar crystals not crystallize creating a softer and smoother caramel.
When to Eat Churro Snack Mix
I can think of a million appropriate times to eat this churro snack mix because it’s right at all times. If you need a few specific ideas, it makes a great snack for movie night with the fam or for a gathering of teenagers at your house. It’s perfect for the holiday season and gifting to neighbors and friends. My kids love it when I have a batch ready for them as an after school snack, and of course it’s always a hit at parties or game nights.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
No Bake: I love that I don’t have to turn the oven on, especially in the summer. It just feels so much easier if something doesn’t need to be baked.
No Candy Thermometer: I know some people hear caramel and shy away because candy making can be so temperamental. You don’t need to worry about that for this simple recipe!
Irresistible Flavors and Texture: Cinnamon sugar, caramel and that crunchy Honeycomb cereal is a combination you’ll love!
Simple Ingredients: All the ingredients are likely items you’ll have at home already once you grab that box of Honeycomb
Timeless: This snack recipe is perfect any time of year!
Variations and Substitutions
If you aren’t a Honeycomb fan, you could use Chex cereal, Corn Pops, oyster crackers, pretzels or puffcorn.
I know some people have strong feelings against corn syrup, so if you’d rather not use it, try honey or agave nectar instead, though the flavor will be different.
Adding in chopped nuts, like pecans or almonds, would be amazing and I’m dying to try this recipe with a drizzle of melted white chocolate all over the top.
Storage Tips
Store this snack mix in an airtight container at room temperature. It will keep for up to 2 weeks.

New York-based hyperpop artist Underscores has shared a new song called “Do It” along with an accompanying music video. In the self-directed clip, Underscores sings along to the electropop track while working through choreography with two dancers, lights flash onscreen, and various people are blown out of their chairs by the sheer force of the music coming from a laptop. Check out the song below.
The 25-year-old April Harper Grey started releasing music as Underscores over a decade ago as a preteen. After self-releasing three EPs and her debut full-length album, 2021’s Fishmonger, she put out her sophomore LP, 2023’s Wallsocket, on Mom + Pop. Now, Underscores is gearing up to release her as-yet-untitled third album, on which “Do It” will be featured alongside the lead single “Music” from this past July.
In the meantime, Underscores has hopped on a handful of collaborations with other artists so far this year, including the Umru track “Poplife,” a remix of Yaeji’s single “Booboo” with Aliyah’s Interlude dubbed “Booboo2,” and the Oklou song “Harvest Sky” from Choke Enough, which recently got a deluxe edition.
Brandi Carlile was the musical guest on last night’s episode of Saturday Night Live, hosted by Miles Teller. Backed by a full band, Carlile performed two songs from her new album Returning To Myself, “Church & State” and “Human.” During “Church & State,” she recited Thomas Jefferson’s 1802 letter to the Danbury Baptists. Watch Carlile on SNL below.
Last night marked Carlile’s fourth time as musical guest and her third SNL appearance this year alone; she was among the performers at February’s SNL50: The Homecoming Concert and, in April, joinedElton John to play songs from their 2025 collaborative album Who Believes in Angels?
Bad Bunny hosted Saturday Night Live’s 51st season premiere last month alongside musical guest Doja Cat. Since then, Role Model made his SNL debut and Sabrina Carpenter pulled double duty, hosting for the first time and performing songs from Man’s Best Friend. This week’s episode is set to feature Nikki Glaser and Sombr. Then, on November 15, Glen Powell will be joined by Olivia Dean.
