Kate Bush has written and directed a short film, Little Shrew (Snowflake), and you can watch it below. Soundtracked by a new edit of her song “Snowflakes,” from 50 Words for Snow, the four-minute animation depicts a shrew searching for hope in a war-ravaged country. It ends with a request for donations to War Child.
In an interview with BBC Radio 4’s Today program, Bush said she is “very keen” to record new music but has not yet started work on it. “I’ve got lots of ideas and I’m really looking forward to getting back into that creative space,” she said. “It’s been a long time.” Asked about a return to live performance, she joked, “I’m not there yet.”
Bush told the BBC she started work on the film soon after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. “I wanted to make a little animation that would feature, originally, a little girl,” she said. “It was really the idea of children caught up in war. I wanted to draw attention to how horrific it is for children. And so I came up with this idea for a storyboard and felt that, actually, people would be more empathetic towards a creature rather than a human. So I came up with the idea of it being a little shrew.” The film was animated by Inkubus for production company Tomato Twist.
SZA and Keke Palmer had natural chemistry during their joint Saturday Night Live episode, back in 2022, and, now, they’re reviving that for an even bigger screen. The two co-star in a new buddy comedy film called One of Them Days that hits theaters on January 24. The movie will serve as the SOS singer’s acting debut in a feature film. Watch the trailer below.
One of Them Days follows SZA and Palmer as two best friends and roommates struggling to pay rent after one of their boyfriends spends all their money. Cue the laughs as they embark on a hijinks-filled day to fulfill the payment and maintain their close friendship. The R-rated movie is directed by Lawrence Lamont, produced by Issa Rae, and written by Rae’s frequent collaborator Syreeta Singleton. Rounding out the cast are Lil Rel Howery, Janelle James, Maude Apatow, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Katt Williams, Joshua Neal, Aziza Scott, and Patrick Cage.
Mereba is coming back with her second solo studio album. The new album, The Breeze Grew a Fire, arrives on February 14 via her new label home, Secretly Canadian. Leading the LP is “Counterfeit,” and you can watch its music video below.
Mereba released her first album, The Jungle Is the Only Way Out, in 2019 via Interscope. She released another Interscope project, the Azeb EP, in 2021.
Mereba worked on The Breeze Grew a Fire with producer Sam Hoffman. She said in press statement, “For this [album], it went back to me being on my own for the creation of a lot of the songs, and it was really important for me at this time of life because I was a little disconnected from the world, and from who I was. So I was trying to find my way back to myself first. What do I like? What do I want to hear? What do I want to say to people now?”

Brown sugar and butter fuel this delicious, fall-inspired side dish. This roasted brown sugar acorn squashrecipe hits those sweet and savory notes that are so craveable.
Roasting an acorn squash brings out it’s natural sweetness, and topping it with brown sugar and a little butter with warm fall spices almost makes you feel like you’re eating a dessert. This makes a perfect side dish for Thanksgiving or Christmas and pairs so well with just about any main dish.
The Biggest Pumpkin
I gave my pumpkin warm milk every single week for many, many weeks in a row because I’d heard that was the secret to growing the biggest, best pumpkin Vancouver Washington had ever seen.
Months of padding through the slowly drying out grass, stopping to see how much produce was growing (aka sneaking raspberries as fast as Mom could can them) had brought me to the reality that my pumpkin was in need of saving.
And I tried. I really did. But in the end, one pumpkin bit the dust while the other looked exactly the same as all my siblings. I don’t remember where I’d heard the tip or why I was so dertermined to make it happen, but looking back I can see that while nothing good came of it, nothing bad did either. I’m trying hard this year to remember that the tips we get for growing a successful garden may not always produce blue ribbon winners, but it did create the desire to see something through.
One good thing did come of the garden my parents planted. Acorn squash to the rescue.
While my little plant didn’t grow up extra ginormous, it did help me to embrace new foods and this is one of them. All these years later and I can sill remember the feel of mashing my little helping of acorn squash, loaded with butter and brown sugar and listening for the sound of the garage door shutting which meant it was time to eat!
Ingredients for Roasted Acorn Squash
The ingredients for this recipe are few and simple which is exactly how a side dish should be! Here is what you will need:
Acorn Squash: any size will work just fine for this recipe
Olive Oil: used to keep the squash from sticking to the pan and to help caramelize
Salt and Pepper: used to season the squash as it roasts
Butter: adds flavor and helps brown and caramelize the squash
Dark Brown Sugar: adds sweetness and rich flavor
Kosher Salt: cuts through the sweetness and enhances all the flavors
Cinnamon: adds flavor and warmth to the dish
Cardamom: adds flavor and that signature fall taste
Keep scrolling down to see the measurements needed for each ingredient. All the details are contained in the recipe card where you can also print or save the recipe.
How to Cut Acorn Squash
Cutting an acorn squash, or any kind of squash, can get more exciting than it needs to be. Let’s keep all our digits and do it the right way!
Be sure you are using a sharp knife. Lay the squash on its side on a cutting board and place the knife in one of the furrows (the dip between two of the bumps). Keeping your finger tips tucked under while still holding the squash, firmly push down on the knife. You will feel the knife push through to the hollow center.
Slide the knife around the tip of the squash. Don’t try to cut through the stem. Once you have cut all the way around the acorn squash, set the knife down and pry open the squash with your fingertips. The stem will either crack or break away to one side of the squash.
Scoop out the seeds inside with a spoon and you’re ready to go.
How to Make Roasted Acorn Squash
Here is a brief overview of the steps for roasting acorn squash:
Preheat the oven.
Drizzle some olive oil in a cast iron pan and rub the squash halves all over with olive oil. Season the flesh side with salt and pepper.
PRO TIP: If you don’t have a cast iron pan, a baking dish or baking sheet will work just fine. It may just take a little longer to brown and get crispy.
Place each half flesh side down on the pan and roast in the oven with foil loosely laid over the top of the squash. Roast until the flesh side is getting brown and caramelized.
Flip the acorn squash halves over and rub butter all over the rims and put the rest of the pat of butter in the well of the squash.
Sprinkle all over with brown sugar and the spices.
Roast again with the flesh side up this time and loosely covered with foil until fork tender.
Serve with a sprinkle of kosher salt if desired.
PRO TIP: You can eat the skin if you want, but it should be easily separated from the squash at this point, so it’s easy to discard as well.
All of these instructions can be found in the recipe card at the end of the post.
Is Acorn Squash Healthy?
Acorn squash is low in calories and high in important nutrients like vitamin C, potassium, and magnesium. So on it’s own, yes, it is quite healthy, but after we load it up with butter and brown sugar, it’s a little less so 😂.
Is There a Difference Between Roasting and Baking an Acorn Squash?
Both cooking methods take rock hard squash and cook it until it is tender and delicious. Generally speaking, roasting is done at temperatures 400 degrees F and higher and baking is done at 375 degrees F and lower.
Roasting gives you that browned caramelized texture and flavor.
Do You Remove the Skin from an Acorn Squash Before Roasting?
No, the skin does not need to be removed before roasting. As the acorn squash roasts, the flesh gets tender and will easily pull away from the skin when it’s done.
Storing Roasted Acorn Squash
Roasted acorn squash should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will keep for up to 5 days. You can reheat it in the microwave or in the oven at 300 degrees until warmed through.
There’s something so comforting and home-y about a roasted squash side dish. It goes well with all the typical comfort food main dishes and those crispy caramelized edges are heaven! This roasted acorn squash recipe with butter and brown sugar is sure to make your holiday side dishes list!

Mary J. Blige was among the Class of 2024 honored at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in Cleveland last night. Dr. Dre and Method Man inducted the soul great, before a hits medley featuring Ella Mai and Lucky Daye. Watch clips of “My Life” and “Family Affair” below.
Blige, who inducted Solomon Burke in 2001 and, posthumously, Nina Simone in 2018, said in her speech, “The queen of hip-hop soul is a rock star.”
In introducing Blige, Dr. Dre said, “Let’s face it, you don’t just listen to a Mary album. You feel that shit in your soul. Every single syllable, her emotional vocals capture the pain and culture, but her messages of resilience, of hope and light are a pathway towards healing. When you listen to Mary, we’re reminded we’re not alone in heartbreak.”
In her own speech, Rolling Stone reports, Blige said, “I’m grateful that I’m loved, and I’m capable now to give love. When I said I wanted to be happy, I really meant that. And I’m not talking about just the happiness where you’re delusional and think everything is okay. I’m talking about the happiness where you know there will be trials, but you’re going to smile anyway, because you believe you’ll get through it. That kind of happiness. I’m building for expansion. I’m building for longevity. I’m building for legacy, and I’m building for history. This whole time I was building to be a rock star, and not now. I am the queen of hip-hop — Soul is a rock star.”
Tonight at the annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in Cleveland, A Tribe Called Quest were inducted by Dave Chappelle, with Q-Tip, Jarobi White, and Phife Dawg’s parents accepting the honor. (Ali Shaheed Muhammad was not present.) After Chappelle paid tribute to their legacy and influence, video played of André 3000, Mike D, and Questlove discussing the hip-hop legends’ imprint on music and popular culture. De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, the Roots, Queen Latifah, Common, and Spliff Star then performed a medley of Tribe classics. Watch it go down below.
In his speech, Q-Tip said, “What’s more rock and roll than the blues? But just like our predecessors, we had to find spaces on the outskirts of cities and towns, from a southern sun house off Robert Johnson Crossroads to a transformed room in a hood tenement on Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx. The need to express burns in us with an art-fueled determination. A spark. The spark that embers within many of us in this room, and the spark that burned within the four of us boys in 1985 in New York City.”
Queen Latifah opened the tribute performance with “Can I Kick It?,” soon joined by Black Thought and De La Soul’s Posdnous for “Check the Rhime” and Common for “Bonita Applebum.” Busta Rhymes, who appeared with Leaders of the New School on Tribe’s 1992 hit “Scenario,” played a fusion of the original and the remix.

As a UK resident currently without the certificate, I had to be quite careful where I flew the Air 3S. Living on the coast at least meant I was able to fly it out over the sea, where it could easily be kept the requisite distance from people, buildings, parks, and beaches. If I lived in the middle of a large town or city here, however, I’d find the restrictions too frustrating to deal with and opt for an ultra-lightweight, fly-anywhere drone such as the DJI Mini 4 Pro. I suspect most casual drone users feel the same way.

DJI Air 3S low light sample
Twice as Nice
Those who decide to pass the courses and deal with the paperwork will enjoy excellent rewards for their time, patience, and money. If the older Air 3’s camera performance was impressive, the Air 3S’s is stunning. The new 1-inch sensor delivers 14 stops of dynamic range and excels in challenging lighting, producing detail-rich, low-noise images at dusk and even at night. I shot the sample photos (above) in DNG RAW (the wide-angle camera shoots 50-megapixel stills; the telephoto 48-megapixel) and edited them using Adobe Lightroom, while the sample video was captured in 10-bit D-Log M and color graded and corrected with DaVinci Resolve Studio. I had a blast editing the footage, with the 10-bit original files offering a huge amount of scope to work with. You don’t have to shoot in D-Log M, however; the cameras support standard color profiles in both 8- and 10-bit quality and 10-bit HLG.
There’s a wide selection of superb video and photo options available. While the Air 3S can’t shoot 5.7K footage (something offered by the DJI Mavic 3 Pro), it can shoot regular 4K videos at up to 60 fps, 4K slow-motion clips at 120 fps and Full HD slow-motion clips at 240 fps. It can also shoot 9:16 portrait-format videos, ideal for quick posting to social media channels, at a more than acceptable 2.7K resolution and 60 fps.
I wouldn’t call the cameras perfect, of course. The lack of adjustable apertures makes a set of neutral density (ND) filters almost a compulsory purchase for anyone shooting video during the day, and even then, changing the filters is a fiddly process. Hopefully that’s one upgrade we’ll see DJI introduce with the Air 4, whenever it arrives.

Turkey Basics
Before we jump in to making this smoked turkey, I want to cover a few of the basics:
A frozen turkey will need thaw 24 hours per every 5 pounds.
Turkey will need to smoke for 25-30 minutes per pound.
Safe internal temperature for a turkey is 165 degrees F in the breast.
So let’s assume you are going to roast a 6.5 pound turkey that is frozen when you purchase it and you want to have your meal on Thursday afternoon. Here is your brief timeline:
Remove turkey from freezer to thaw in the fridge: 2 days ahead of time (Tuesday afternoon – Wednesday evening)
Now the turkey is ready to carve and eat Thursday afternoon! Now here are those same steps in a little more detail…
How to Make Apple Smoked Turkey Breast
Alright, let’s get down to how to make The Most Amazing Apple Pecan Smoked Turkey Breast. Start out by brining your turkey breast. Even though it’s not an entire bird, brining is essential to a tender and flavorful turkey breast.
How to Brine a Turkey
Brining a turkey needs two specific ingredients and then the remaining ingredients vary based upon your own individual recipes.
Liquid- Your turkey breast (or whole turkey) will sit in a liquid anywhere from 8-24 hours. The kind of liquid does in fact make a difference as they will help to flavor the meat. Brining, as well as marinating is not made to soak into the center of the meat, but to flavor the outside so well that as it cooks that flavor emerges.
Salt- It’s preferred that you use Kosher salt for brining as it’s a more coarse salt which will help to break down the meat, soak in the liquid for a more juicy meat and finally, the salt helps to flavor the meat more than just a rub later on.
Combine all the ingredients for the brine into a large pot with a lid. Rinse the turkey breast thoroughly and then submerge in the brining liquid. Store in the fridge with the lid on for 10-12 hours or overnight.
Next up is the rub on the turkey. Do not ever make a turkey without this step as this is where all of those yummy flavors are going to come from. Here’s what you need to do:
Rub for a Turkey
Spices- You usually see a lot of herbs with turkey, but spices are great to bring out a little extra flavor. In this case, we throw in smoked paprika to really drive home the flavor but also the color with that deep red. Cumin, garlic and even ground mustard bring a balance to the spices that creates a warm, aromatic experience.
Sugar- Just a stitch of brown sugar like any good BBQ or Smoked recipe adds the tiniest amount of sweetness which really balances the garlic and smokiness.
Butter- Butter is essential to add a little more juiciness and flavor to the meat. It also helps the spices to stick to the meat.
Combine all the ingredients for the rub and set aside. Remove the turkey from the brine and pat it dry with paper towels. Spread the rub all over the turkey breast, under and on top of the skin.
That’s not all though, you still need to fill a drip pan with liquids that will help to steam the bird as it smokes. Trust us on this one, you do not want to just go with water.
Drip Pan with Juices
Fill a tin pan, we just get ours at the local grocery store, with pineapple juice and water. Even though this is an apple juice brined turkey the pineapple juice adds a really interesting level of flavor to the bird and the gravy.

How Long to Smoke a Turkey Breast
Preheat your Traeger smoker to 300 degrees F with pecan pellets. Place the drip pan with the smoking liquids in it under the rack of the smoker. Then put the turkey breast side down, on the smoker grill grate and close the lid.
Let it smoke for 3 – 3 ½ hours or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the turkey breast reads 165 degrees F.
Once it has reached the desired temperature, remove the turkey from the smoker and tent it with foil for 20 minutes to let it rest. RESERVE the drippings in the drip pan to make the gravy.
Combine the water and cornstarch in a small bowl and whisk together to combine. Pour all the drippings from the turkey into a saucepan on the stove top and bring to a boil. Once boiling, slowly add the cornstarch mixture and whisk everything together until thickened.
A smoked turkey will sometimes have a pink ring around the meat, but that’s from the smoke and flavor, it doesn’t mean that you need to keep cooking the turkey.
In fact, sometimes that pink hue can really penetrate into the meat, so it’s important to recognize if it’s the smoke or raw meat, which do in fact look different.
What Goes with Smoked Turkey
Oh my goodness, let’s talk about sides before we forget. Here are a few of our favorite things to go with smoked turkey.
Depending on your smoker and how much time you have you will want to adjust the temperature of the Traeger Pellet Smoker. We prefer 300 degrees F for 3-3 ½ hours. You could also do 325 degrees F for 2 ½-3 hours, but we much prefer to have a low and slow meat.
Can You Freeze Smoked Turkey?
You can easily freeze smoked turkey, but only keep it in a freezer bag in the freezer for up to 2 weeks. If you wish to keep it for 1-2 months, use a Food Saverlike Cade and I have.
BEST. INVESTMENT. EVER.

Pa Salieu has shared two new songs. “Epiphany (Freestyle)” and “Crash (Freestyle)” follow last month’s “Belly,” which celebrated the British Gambian rapper’s release from prison, after serving 22 months of a 33-month sentence. Both songs come with music videos, and feature Salieu rapping over beats from longtime collaborators Felix Joseph and AOD. Watch the new videos below.
“While I was in jail, I realised how fortunate I was to always have my thoughts for company,” Salieu said in a press statement. “My mind was my escape, and I fell in love with the pen and paper and that’s when I had an epiphany—I have a voice, a platform, and something meaningful to say.”
Kim Gordon has released a digital deluxe edition of The Collective, her second solo album that was released near the start of this year. The updated version of the LP includes two additional tracks: June’s “ECRP” and the brand new “Bangin’ on the Freeway.” Check out the music video for the latter, which was directed by Gordon’s daughter, Coco Gordon Moore, below.
The deluxe edition of The Collective will also be available on vinyl, with physical copies dropping on December 13 via Matador. “Bangin’ on the Freeway” is the second single from it to get a visual directed by Coco Gordon Moore, following “ECRP.” Other videos were helmed by Clara Balzary (“Bye Bye”), Alex Ross Perry (“I’m a Man”), and Vice Cooler (“Psychedelic Orgasm”), the first two of which actually starred Coco Gordon Moore in front of the lens.
Since touring in support of The Collective, which included a stop on Jimmy Kimmel Live!—marking Gordon’s solo live debut on late-night television—where she and her band played “Bye Bye,” Gordon has also found time to record with Model Home. The two teamed up on the track “Razzamatazz” along with Justin Raisen, who worked with Gordon on The Collective and 2021’s No Home Record.
Craving the signature taste of Chick fil A nuggets? Skip the drive-thru and the price tag and try this easy homemade recipe with a delicious homemade sauce for the perfect copycat dish.
When our girls were little, Cade would take them on daddy daughter date nights periodically and the girls always picked Chick-fil-A as the place the wanted to eat dinner. I used to love Dairy Queen as a kiddo so I get it. Plus it’s a daddy date so I’m not invited.
When I was little I guess I used to get out of bed a lot and wake up super early. Which is funny because I HATE, DESPISE, DETEST, and VEHEMENTLY PROTEST waking up. I looooove to sleep and take naps. Love it. Anyway, my parents made me a chart when I was like 3 I think. Every day I didn’t get out of bed I got a whale stamp (remember how stamps weren’t all cool yet? It was just an old black ink pad and whale) on the date and after a week I got to go to Dairy Queen. What a treat!
So, I started researching Chick fil-A chicken copycat recipes and experimenting with recipes. Every recipe I saw had pickle juice so I was intrigued. This is a perfect copycat recipe! And my favorite part, it’s a fraction of the cost! Eating out has gotten so dang expensive!

How to Make Copycat Chick Fil A Nuggets
For this copycat Chick Fil A nuggets recipe, we will start by brining the chicken for a few hours to infuse the chicken with flavor and help tenderize it. Then we bread the chicken chunks and deep fry them. It’s so easy! Here are more details about each step:
Brine the Chicken
Brine: Place the chicken pieces in a bowl or airtight container and pour the pickle juice and water over the chicken for 3-4 hours or overnight in the fridge.
Make the Chicken
Mix: Add all the ingredients for the breading mixture to a large bowl and whisk together.
Whisk: In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
Prep: Add the oil to a large saucepan and heat to about 350 degrees.
Dip the Chicken
Drain: Grab the brining chicken from the fridge and drain all the pickle juice.
Dredge: Dip each chicken chunk into the egg mixture, and then dredge in the flour mixture. Repeat this step twice on each piece of chicken.
Deep Fry: Place about 8 nuggets at a time into fryer and cook about 4-6 minutes until golden brown. You’ll have to cook the nuggets in batches so that you don’t overcrowd the pan.
Drain: Remove to a plate lined with a paper towel to drain.
Serve: While they are still warm, serve with the copycat Chick-fil-A sauce (see next section).
NOTE: I have one kid that won’t eat these nuggets with anything but Chick-fil-A sauce, but I have another kid that is loyal to ranch. So bring out all the dipping sauces and let everyone pick their favorite. Other delicious options are honey mustard sauce, BBQ sauce or just ketchup.
The complete instructions can be found in the recipe card down below.

What to Eat with Chick Fil A Nuggets
A trip to Chick-fil-A isn’t complete without those signature waffle fries, right?! They honestly don’t do much for me, but hot salty fries are one of my love languages, so a side of crispy french fries is a great side dish option!
Homemade mac and cheese is classic side dish with chicken nuggets. If you want go with a little lighter side option, make a fresh salad or make some roasted veggies on the side.
Why Use Peanut Oil For Frying?
Peanut oil has a high smoke point and neutral taste which makes it perfect for frying foods.
Peanut oil is low in saturated fat and high in polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats, making it a healthier choice for frying.
If you don’t have peanut oil, vegetable oil or canola oil are both good substitutes.
Is Chicken Breast Healthier Than Thighs?
Breasts and thighs actually do not differ that much in nutrient content.
Both chicken thighs and breasts are good sources of lean protein.
Chicken breast contains less fat and fewer calories than dark meat, but the differences are small.
Can I Cook These in the Air Fryer?
Yes, these work great in the air fryer! Preheat your air fryer to 390 degrees F. Coat the basket of your air fryer with cooking oil. Follow the directions in the recipe card for coating the chicken. Spray the coated chicken chunks with cooking spray on all sides.
Air fry a batch of chicken for 5 minutes. Shake the basket and spray any spots on the chicken that look dry and flour-y. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Repeat these steps with the rest of the chicken pieces. Be sure to not overcrowd your air fryer basket.
Storing Chicken Nuggets
Leftovers should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will keep up to 4-5 days.
Chicken nuggets also freeze extremely well. Let them cool completely an then flash freeze them so that they don’t stick together as they freeze. Place all the nugs on a baking sheet and stick them in the freezer for an hour or so. Then place them in a ziploc bag. They will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Can You Reheat Chicken Nuggets?
You can reheat chicken nuggets.
The microwave may make chicken nuggets tough and soggy, so the best way to reheat is: place the chicken nuggets on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet, and pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees.
Ten minutes in the oven delivers great taste and crunchy texture.

Santa Cruz, California, hardcore band Scowl have signed to Dead Oceans and are kicking off their new era with “Special.” The single reunites them with Grammy-nominated producer Will Yip, who worked on last year’s Psychic Dance Routine EP. The new song also comes with a music video directed by Silken Weinberg, which you can watch below.
“Originally [guitarist] Malachi [Greene] sent in the demo while we were touring the UK,” Scowl singer Kat Moss recounted in a press release. “Cole [Gilbert] added his flare on drums; [bassist] Bailey [Lupo] directed the bridge; and, finally, [guitarist] Mikey [Bifolco] cooked up his leads. ‘Special’ is a kamikaze. The lyrics are about threatening the audience by asking ‘What do you really want?’ in clear desperation to answer my own question ‘What do I really want?’ But the answer is simple, I want to feel alive.”
